New thread for a new month! Everyone is doing so well, we are forming some great habits and, hopefully, feeling better for it.

some good links:

How To Be Groomed thread

Discount Make-up and Toiletries
Cheap Smells
Fragrance Direct
Xtras Online
Look Fantastic

Its also worth joining groups like wowcher and Groupon for discount manicures etc.

Baby steps are the way forward, and if you fall off the wagon and have a pj day (or week) its ok, just jump back on. We want to take more pride in our appearance, make an effort. As one poster said, "we think there's no point making an effort if we are just at home with our DP's and DC's, but they are the most important people in our lives - why not act like it?" I certainly feel better, my self-esteem is higher and I have more confidence.

All welcome.

Happy Fabulizing Dahhlinks

Just back from the gym so feeling very virtuous - if a bit sweaty! Get paid tomorrow so going to treat myself to some more skin care from the B range in Superdrug. I've already got the face wash and really like it so might try the face scrub and night cream.

JemimaMuddledUp · 15/02/2013 20:27

issima I remember those days. It is only recently that I have being able to properly get some "me time" again, the first few years with my three seemed to pass by in a haze. I still usually find one ends up knocking on the bathroom door wanting something, but unless they want to tell me that the house is burning down they are old enough to wait for 10 minutes.

Always well done for going to the gym! I have to admit that the gym slightly intimidates me. I have never been, and I don't quite know what I would do when I got there IYSWIM. Which is silly as I run and go on my stationary bike at home and do things like yoga and swimming quite happily. Maybe I should face my fears and go for a gym induction.

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 15/02/2013 20:32

Jemima I only started going a few years ago and still don't go as often as I should. When I first started I went to a personal trainer which really helped. Wasn't as scary as going in on my own and it meant I was shown how to use all the equipment properly.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 15/02/2013 20:51

I have a ds 7, and dd is almost 5 so cant leave them in the shoe department just yet Grin

Ive told myself Im not getting any younger so if Im going to be verging on looking ridiculous and yet enjoying myself hugely then so be it! It seems like now that the dc are of a much more managable age and Ive lost weight and am happier with myself than I have been for a while, that now I want to enjoy clothes more etc - rather than in my 20's where okay I prob was at the better age to experiment, but had really small children and no time to myself to care how I looked! I lived in an iron maiden t shirt and maternity trousers or pj bottoms for months when Id had my first Grin So, time for some colour and patterns I think.

Hope youre all enjoying your evenings, all Ive done is remove my chipped nail polish

JemimaMuddledUp · 15/02/2013 21:32

I feel exactly the same as you Guy

I used to love fashion and clothes. I used to spend hours pampering myself, and used to buy new clothes all the time. I used to manage a shoe shop, so the staff discount came in handy to stock up my Imelda Marcos style shoe and handbag collection Grin

Then I had 3 babies in 3.5 years, retrained as a nursery teacher so my work look went from high fashion to practical, and along the way became Mrs Frump.

Now I've lost weight and the DC are that bit older I want to find me again under the acres of mumsiness.

JemimaMuddledUp · 16/02/2013 07:49

Morning!

Today's outfit: black and white stripe tunic, black leggings, black cable poncho, black flat knee high boots, red tote bag.

Am going to have a look in Store 21 later as I noticed on the way past they have lots of cheap scarves. I am a sucker for cheap scarves Grin

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 16/02/2013 07:54

Marking place to motivate myself later Wink

bleedingheart · 16/02/2013 08:35

I bought a gorgeous emerald green and violet scarf in Studio 21 last week. They also have some slim fit chino type trousers reduced to £7.99. I bought them in khaki and think I might go back for the navy and grey Blush.
I have big thighs and long legs and can look awful in trousers but these look okay I think.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 16/02/2013 08:37

Jemima - yes thats exactly it! Im doing my 20's now, fashion-wise Grin Your outfit today sounds really nice makes mental note to go in store 21 Im a sucker for scarves too, especially the cheap ones!

Dh and ds are out for a few hours, then later I hope to get out and have a look for a jersey blazer. I also really have decided I need that orange skirt and I reckon with black tights and my grey heeled ankle boots I could pull off the awkward length

Today Im in charcoal shirt, black leggings and mini skirt, black biker boots. Was wearing a black boyfriend cardy with it but its freezing in my house at the mo so Ive swapped it for a huge leopard print one. Got moisturiser and primer on, bb cream, but no makeup as yet cos I REALLY wanted a coffee...

Where's Trampy? Hope you're okay lady Smile

Have a lovely day people, yesterday was like a beautiful spring day here, today its foggy as hell.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 16/02/2013 08:40

bleeding - 7.99?! Bargain! I say if you like them and they fit well then go and stock up! Otherwise you'll wish you had later when theyre all out of stock...

I was at a levi outlet a few months back, trying on those jeans with various curves, demi etc I remember at one point the assistant says to me (after Id commented on the difference between 2 pairs Id tried) "hmm yes I have large thighs too" Hmm Shes lucky they were heavily discounted lol

JemimaMuddledUp · 16/02/2013 08:55

Oh yes, a jersey blazer. I need want one of those too, but am trying to hold out for another couple of weeks as my birthday is next month and I know I will get vouchers. I have been doing a bit of market research though and quite like the one in New Look.

Has anyone seen Trampy at all? Hope she is OK.

Is Studio 21 the same as Store 21?

TrampyPants · 16/02/2013 11:55

Hiyaall, I'm okay. Been a rough few days but I'm back now. Will read back to see what everyone has been up to.

Hello notjustamummy, welcome! I know exactly what you mean, welcome to other newcomers too!

Jemima, glad you got a night out, even if it wasn't as romantic as you'd hoped. I'm put off shellac nails incase they wreck my already iffy talons. Pity about your not great purchases though, I've beenreading loads of magazines, looking for ideas Grin

Guy, glad you found your jeans, topshop jeans are my faves! Kudos for shopping with Littles, I avoid taking ds now.

I've not heard of studio 21, loving the sound of the scarf, might take a shufty.

Hope all with plans for today have a good one!

I've been ordering a few goodies, the 3.99 sweater from h+m, I need a pair of boyfriend jeans that fit though. I have no bum at all. this scarf and, my favourite this from reiss. I can't wait for them to arrive! I am also being sent some free skincare goodies by a local company to sample for my blog.and I had an article about alternatives to denim published yesterday. Woo hoo! I can't walk, but everything else seems good.

I love blazers full stop, especially asthe weather warms up! Howwas your run?

OP posts:
GuyMartinsSideburns · 16/02/2013 14:05

Silly question but.... I got married last year, very very low key, low cost type of day, literally 20 mins in reg office Grin Anyway I wore a black blazer with a dress, do you think I should be wearing the blazer more often?! I mean it seems a shame to never wear it again, but also it feels like 'no I cant' Blush Its not a 'special' blazer or anything, and it seems a shame to waste it.

Good to see you back, Trampy. Hope you're doing okay xx I must say Im pretty happy with my h an m 3.99 sweater! Comfy and I really like the fit. I saw in Topshop yesterday they had loads of boyfriend jeans on sale. Mine are from topshop and fit great.

TrampyPants · 16/02/2013 14:22

Guy, good point! I shall try topshop. Justabout the only shop that has jeansthat fit me. Thank you.

I would probably wear it again, tbh, just not often!

OP posts:
GuyMartinsSideburns · 16/02/2013 14:27

Yes maybe you're right Grin maybe I should get a topshop one for everyday wear

JemimaMuddledUp · 16/02/2013 14:43

Good to see you back Trampy! That scarf is nice, but I think I would worry about ordering it from China.

I didn't get chance to go scarf shopping as I spent half the morning looking for toy stuffing for the school craft club that I help out with Angry My replacement La Redoute cardigan has come though and this time it fits perfectly. They didn't have a black one in a smaller size so I got grey and it is a really nice shade. It was a bargain too, I had a 50% off code so it only cost £5.25. Also it is the first and probably the last item of clothing I'll ever own in a size 6/8 - I might take to wearing it with the label sticking out! Grin

TrampyPants · 16/02/2013 14:49

Guy, do it!! bad influence

Issi, doesn't matter, still impressed! And thank you. They dispatched same day too, some lovely stuff in their sale.

Jemima, really? What was thecode? And Grin at wearing the label out, you've done soon well.

OP posts:
TrampyPants · 16/02/2013 14:51

Oops, I've ordered from china before. Takes ages, but it was only £1.50 so I'm not expecting a miracle.

OP posts:
JemimaMuddledUp · 16/02/2013 15:04

I'm probably just over cautious about ordering from abroad. And too impatient!

The La Redoute code was 2250, you got 50% off one item plus a free bag. The bag is OK, it is a red tote with loads of room in, and it brightens up my many variations of black, white and grey clothing! I got the code from the thread on here about the £1 shirt.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 16/02/2013 15:26

Right Ive taken a punt on 2 oasis blazers because we have a catalogue and theyre on there figured I'll return them if theyre no good, and if they are good then I can pay over 3 months rather than hand over cash in topshop and be skint Blush Its my fault for being silly and not being able to choose between colours, I need the whole set of things Ive always been like this, probably makes clothes shopping 100% more difficult than it has to be.

Im happy to go cheapo with tops but I find that cheaper jeans and things like blazers dont seem to work so well for me. Im funny with shoes too but I think thats from being made to wear awful ill-fitting shite when growing up so think I view cheap footwear with suspicion I imagine theyve come on leaps and bounds since then though so maybe I should give them a chance. My feet blister so easily though and seem to hate footwear. Dh says I obviously shouldve been born in a really hot climate where I could just stay barefooted Grin

Has anyone here bought off that 'everything a fiver' website? Thats another thing Im suspicious about (cynical, me?) but my friend loves it. I like looking on the website and going "OMG, A FIVER?!" Shock but havent been brave enough to place an order yet!
