Have quickly got up to date - this thread is moving at breakneck speed!

Novice that Balenciaga is totally gorgeous. Hope you love it when it arrives
Blonde delighted you bought the silk shirt - it's so classy
AnniAnni I would have gone for the Hudson baby bootcuts too but unfortunately they were gone in my size
Marsha really like all your white stilleto links - I can't do high heels but thinking about something like these in white instead.

blondassassin · 01/02/2013 07:25

Liberty Grin I'm resigned to never getting a halo where shopping's concerned.

DH here but have had my order shipped to my mum's house round the corner Wink

blondassassin · 01/02/2013 07:32

Ah it was you who found the shirt Liberty, thanks! Am worried it may be a bit classic for me but am hoping to make it work with my leather leggings a la Hopefully!

Loving the frenzied Donna Ida shopping Grin

Annianni · 01/02/2013 07:42

I had to get my order in as dh is off work the week after next and any deliveries would get the response...
'what the bloody hell have you ordered now?' :o

He's lovely really, before any of the bench buying people stick their oar in and tell me to ltb.

Annianni · 01/02/2013 09:12

Brilliant Anni!

Great jeans shopping Annianni. I really want some baby bootcuts...

I frequently get stuff delivered to work, run down to the local H&M at lunchtime to try it on and then straight to the post office if it has to go back. Lots of boxes arriving just stresses DH out! He hasn't a leg to stand on though - he shops all day but justifies it on the basis that all his recent purchases (stereo, amps, sub woofers, new PC etc) are for the 'household' - as if I'd notice what difference a sub-woofer makes!

Pseudonymity · 01/02/2013 11:18

Hi again, & hi Marsha! these are the Lanvin gold flats on NAP. They are so elegant. I have a wishlist as long as my arm for spring/summer but definitely a good pair of flats, some elegant low heels, possibly in white, and some bright earrings - Tom Binns-a-likes hopefully.

I'm loving the blue bag vibe. I love this from Smythson. I don't have any expensive bags, one very old Mulberry that I never use.

Definitely also want some cropped jeans for the summer, want to channel Audrey Grin I am not a big jeans wearer, unlike many on the thread. Unfortunately I am the wrong shape for jeans - my only jeans are a couple of pairs of Levis bold curve skinnies, urgh. I actually have a nice figure, v. small waist and wear a 10 in most clothes but I'm more Kim Kardashian than Audrey, much to my disappointment.

Mrsap · 01/02/2013 11:20

Loving the baby boot cuts. I need done non skinnies in my life too.

Funny, my DH really doesn't mind what I buy in the way of clothes he just doesn't understand it at all as he just sees clothes as 'a covering'. My FIL is the same (my MIL has an amazing wardrobe Envy).

Mind you they both spend loads on boat and cycling stuff (£500 for a headtorch?!BlushBlush) so guess it all evens out.

QueenCadbury · 01/02/2013 11:33

liberty I'm loving your shopping style. I can't order anything at the moment as we're trying to save to do stuff to the house so dh has banned online purchases. Tis a pain as now I have to shop with toddler in tow, hide stuff in my wardrobe and pretend I've had it for ages Grin

I've just bought a cheap pearl necklace as I've been inspired by a couple of Pinterest images. Would love a set of real pearls for my birthday but thought I should just try cheapo ones to make sure I don't look like an old lady. Anyone else wear pearls?

Loving the bag purchases from everyone. I'm really lazy and just use 1 bag as I can't be bothered to transfer all the toddler paraphernalia from bag to bag.

MarshaBrady · 01/02/2013 11:39

Hey Pseud they are gorgeous. Love your ideas, especially the white! Grin

I also would like some MiH Paris in off-white. The 'off' part being very important to me of course.

Funny what you are all saying, Liberty dh is analogue sound system things (deep bass yada) and yes Mrsap bikes, the nicest frame, gets cleaned regularly. He loves these things like I love clothes so he doesn't have a leg to stand on! Actually he always says oh get it, and that's nothing get it. It has a great effect as I often think hmmm it's quite a lot and then I don't (sometimes).

QueenCadbury I'm not sure I can do pearls. But for the right style definitely.

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 01/02/2013 11:44

marsha I'm not sure I can either but I'll give it a go!

What is it with men and bikes? Mine has 3 already and would love a 4th!

libertychick · 01/02/2013 12:12

QueenCadbury did you say on another thread that you are 40 this year too? I hit the big milestone in July and am debating what I should get for it. I had some cheap imitation pearls a couple of years ago and wore them to death - getting the right shade for your skin tone is quite important I think. Dona was experimenting with them too and wore hers with a denim shirt which I imagine would look good.

MarshaBrady · 01/02/2013 12:18

Dona's style was great for pearls, it can be fresh and very stylish.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 01/02/2013 12:21

As your style would be too of course! I really like the more dramatic ones. I saw some Lanvin ones at one point that were nice. I think Popcornia? was it liked them too. On an earlier vogue.

OP posts:
libertychick · 01/02/2013 12:33

Funnily enough I only found they worked on me in summer wearing floral skirts with plain tshirts or tailored trousers with a shirt. It may have been the colours or the fact I had a bit of a tan. My winter work wear look tends to be a lot of black and grey - they didn't work with the shades of grey I wore and did work with black but made me look a bit Margaret Thatcher! I quite like ropes of them a la Coco Chanel - was it Dona who said that Chanel always said you should wear fake pearls as wearing too many real ones is too much? Or that might have been Lucia VP in the 'Things I wish my mother had taught me' book...I have all these random facts in my head but poor recollection of the source!

It's exactly this type of discussion where we miss you Dona Smile

MarshaBrady · 01/02/2013 13:35

That sounds nice Liberty. I'm sure I could find a way to wear them, but I'd have to put some work into searching which ones would be best.

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 01/02/2013 14:31

Yes liberty I'm 40 in November. Not sure exactly what I want yet but I have given it a great deal of thought. I had thought that I'd wanted a mulberry or similar as I fell in love with last years alexa in grey but I've got another 2 and a half years doing the toddler group thing and quite frankly I'd be worried it'd get ruined or pinched. For as long as I can remember I've wanted a 2.55 but that's not going to happen until my 60th when the kids are grown up! I'd like to investigate those r&b bags irl though. Other than that I'd like my colours done as at the moment I've only self diagnosed. I can pretty much work out what suits me but I'm not very good at putting colours together without a neutral. I'd also love a rose gold watch although haven't tried any on yet so may not suit my skin tone. And then the pearls possibly. Oh, maybe a silver cuff too.

Would love to do pearls with denim shirt but collars and shirts just don't suit me. I'd love some kind of denim collarless blouse! Will get back you all about whether I look MT, granny, bridal or just fantastically cool Grin

Mrsap · 01/02/2013 14:45

I love my pearls. The don't go with everything as they can make some stuff look a bit mrs thatcher but if the rest of your outfit is young ish looking then it works.....well I am not sure but I have based that on the number of comments I do (or don't) get.

I agree with trying lots on to get the right colour, size of actual pearls...and length. I can't do long as they just look wrong.

I am another one who can't do shirts with collars or breast pockets. Makes my shoulders and boobs look enormous and not in a good way.

Have a houseful of guests this weekend and a 3 yr old party to cater. Feeling exhausted just thinking about it.

Have a good one all.

MarshaBrady · 01/02/2013 17:34

QueenCadbury love your planning for your 40th.

Mrsap happy 3rd birthday to your ds/dd. Good luck!

Shop look Aubin & Wills sample sale in Shoreditch tomorrow.

Drywhiteplease · 01/02/2013 18:18

Queen love pearls (I'm an 80s woman at heart!!) wear pearl studs almost every day. My string less often....only when trying to look grown up/sophisticated and as others have said, with the right outfit. I love the Chanel pile them high look but I don't have the guts!!!!

Anni those jeans are incredible bargains. Like you pseud I don't feel awfully relaxed in jeans (similar figure, petite with bum...dresses suit me better).

shopafrolic · 01/02/2013 19:21

Thanks Marsha! Shame, DH only just back and jet lagged so can't abandon him and DS. Are you going?

MarshaBrady · 01/02/2013 19:29

Shop I'm not sure yet. I'd really like to, but it was on today too and I bet there is hardly anything left.

The last time I went to a sample sale in Shoreditch, for SCP or Viaduct (can't remember, but one of those design places) there were queues down the street and it was disappointing.

I'm not sure if I will, but if I do will report from scene, haha.
