Want to try to lose half a stone by Xmas - are you in??

So I m up for a little Xmas weight loss! Basically, I know at Xmas I put on weight so want to be well below my 'buffer zone' to enable me to join the festivities. Also want to look good in my Christmas party wear!
Useless on my own, need support to keep me on track!
Anyone in.............

Yes, I'm in! But I'm due to give birth on 22nd so it may be cheating slightly as I'm guaranteed to lose half a stone! It's then the rest I'll have to shift!

fedupofnamechanging · 29/11/2012 10:08

Morning all. Just done level one of the shred again. Slightly easier than yesterday, but I can see myself getting bored very quickly.

Seem to have put on a pound since yesterday, despite doing the shred and ending the day with a couple of hundred calories to spare. Think it might be due to all the dairy milk I ate the day before yesterday!

Hope today is going well for everyone

sweetheart · 29/11/2012 11:32

Morning all!

Hope everyone is feeling good and positive today!

I have gotten into teh habit of having an option hot choc with a bit of squirty cream on top which I think is probably hindering my weight loss a bit so I'm trying to cut that out in the evenings. I had some pineapple last night instead which brough me in under my 1200 cals - if I'd had the hot choc I would have hit 1200.

I also had a good session with a PT last night (dispite dreading it all day!) so that made me feel much better and focused to stay a bit more on track throughout December. He has suggested doing something called "10 of 10" while I'm off owrk over xmas to stay on track. It's basically doing 10 reps of 10 exercises which only takes a few minutes and could be done with the kids around as soon as I've got up. then I can just jump in the shower knowing I'm done for the day. Exercises doe 10 of 10 include things like:-
Squat thrusts
push ups
back / tricep dips
burpees
sit ups
squat jumps
star jumps
mountain climbers
30sec sprint on spot

etc

karma - thanks for the heads up on the ready meals I'll check those out. I also wonder if M&S ones are any good? I tend to bulk them out by adding lots of yummy veg and a Aunt Bessie yorkshire pudding Grin

planigirly - 1000 cals per day is quite low! Esp if mfp is suggesting 1400.

With mfp I always aim to be lower on my carbs and higher on my protein but that's because I'm doing a fair bit of exercise so I need the protein to repair my muscles and also a lower carb diet reduces bloating around the stomach area. I can't do NO carb or very low carb though! I love my carbs too much!

laptopdancer · 29/11/2012 14:25

I am back on the wagon after the first Xmas festive meal. Just putting it behind me now

twooter · 29/11/2012 15:16

Not doing so good today. Will have to do some exercise later to make up.

fedupofnamechanging · 29/11/2012 15:57

Oh dear - had a slice of Christmas cake for lunch. I know it contains fruit, but somehow I don't think it counts as healthy! It was nice though.

Low cal dinner for me, I think.

sweetheart · 29/11/2012 16:01

Am I the only one having a good day today? It was beautiful weather here today (cold but lovely) so I went for a run at lunchtime which really lifted my spirits. Been good foodwise so far today and have netball training tonight so won't be at home to pick at things.

Not looking forward to the training so much though, it's outside so I'll be bloody freezing! How many calories does shivering burn do you think? Grin

Joycey29 · 29/11/2012 16:47

Well -I m doing ok - lots of walking up and down stairs at work.
Didn't t succumbe to the sandwiches at break and avoided snacking at kids tea.
Shred DVD turned up - slightly nervous but going to give it a go!
Be strong - so easy to slip in the evening!!!

Afternoon all!

Wow, we'll done to those managing to exercise outdoors! Blooming freezing today!

I've had a not bad day.... Had All Bran for breakfast then a very protein-y lunch consisting of prawns, chicken, an egg and hummous. MFP saying enough with the protein already!

Just read this article online in today's Daily Satan: www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2240003/Its-hell-feast-famine-diet-help-drop-dress-size--live-longer.html

I had actually never heard of this 5:2 thing before reading these fitness threads on MN this week. Anyone on this thread trying it?

I always thought not eating all day was bad for you.... Seems to be the antithesis of the low GI/GL thing that I'm trying and which tells you to eat every 3-4 hours.....

(Apols if this diet is old news and been discussed to death.... Was news to me!)

TheOriginalNutcracker · 29/11/2012 18:24

I'm not doing so well today.

I had my porridge for breakfast, yuck. Had a bananan as a snack mid morning and then eggs on toast at lunch time.

Have just had chicken in garlic sauce, salad and jacket spud with cheese.

Have only done the school run as exercise too.

It's so bloody hard cos i feel hungry all the time.

laptopdancer · 29/11/2012 18:30

Ive been ok.....40g cereal and s/sk milk bfast, lean ham and tomato sandwich (grainy bread) and banana pre school run. For tea its a salad and chicken skewer (breast cubed on a skewer).

TheReturnOfBridezilla · 29/11/2012 18:37

Seven pounds is exactly what I want to lose. It would make me so happy if I could but motivation /self control is out of the window at the moment. I can but try!

TheReturnOfBridezilla · 29/11/2012 18:39

I'm starting tomorrow. [ahem]

Joycey29 · 29/11/2012 18:45

Come on Bride - join us tomorrow and we ll get there.
Never been so motivated as having this many eyes on my food in take.
Just done Shred level 1 and I ache but reckon wont be long til I m on level 2!!

It's been quiet on here today! Well ve been feeling really puckish all day, I think it must be because it's so bloomin cold. I had yoghurt and half a banana for breakfast, crisp reads with light Philli and ham for lunch. Snacks were a few nuts, an apple and a bit of toffee popcorn which wasn't my finest hour and just had a chilli with cheeses grated on top and sour cream - whoops! Still I went for a bike session at the gym earlier so if I can avoid eating anything else before bed I should be ok.

How's everyone else don't today?

musttidyupBeforeSantaComes · 30/11/2012 20:22

I'm doing well so far. Was at work so no picking. Porridge for bf, 2 eggs an a wholemeal pitta and a pear for lunch and tea coming soon - chicken kebab :-) best skinny take out :-) but will steal some of DHs chips.
Off for the weekend tomorrow so did a good run last night and feel I can be a little bit off diet this weekend.

plaingirly · 30/11/2012 20:32

I don't feel hungry .... managed to resist chocolate today .... looking forward to Zumba next week.

Instead of eating a whole pack I ate 2 jelly beans and that was enough.

Think I must have bumped my head or something - acting like a crazy person!

AsparagusFern · 30/11/2012 20:32

Evening all

I've had a good day so far: boiled egg and one slice wholemeal toast for breakfast; low fat cheese and oatcake for snack; sweet potato and cottage cheese for lunch; and prawn and chicken stir fry for dinner.

My problem is definitely now until bedtime......the danger zone!

8pm-10pm is a killer when I'm trying to avoid snacking!

AsparagusFern · 30/11/2012 20:34

plaingirly well done for stopping at two jelly beans! That is willpower indeed!

plaingirly · 30/11/2012 20:44

I even logged them on MFP!

I would normally just have eaten them all but wasn't really tempted. Hopefully that means that this will be a lifestyle change rather than a short term diet.

AsparagusFern · 30/11/2012 20:53

Definitely

I totally agree about lifestyle change. I keep smiling thinking this is the 'new me'! I hope so!

(I've also caught myself giggling when I've input really silly things into MFP. Am trying to remember the silliest thing I've input. Three green olives?!)

plaingirly · 30/11/2012 20:57

I am trying to imagine what I will look like at my goal. Can't imagine it!

Have been looking at the before / after pictures that people have posted - amazing differences! Some look like totally different people!

Strange to feel excited about it all - normally I feel deprived and miserable.

AsparagusFern · 30/11/2012 21:02

That's so good you're excited.... Me too! I'm already fantasising about what life would be like without a muffin top. It's been so long that I've had one.... I just can't imagine!

plaingirly · 30/11/2012 21:11

I haven't been slim since I was a skinny minnie at about 10!

Can't imagine being able to wear whatever I want! Got to stay motivated!!

I even want to do exercise so I can log it. I sound insane!

The mfp site is really supportive too - people commenting and motivating others.

sweetheart · 30/11/2012 21:13

Epic fail here, made an options hot choc and sneeked a few squares of the kids chocolate that was in the cupboard Sad this weekend is going to be bad, I can tell!
