So I m up for a little Xmas weight loss! Basically, I know at Xmas I put on weight so want to be well below my 'buffer zone' to enable me to join the festivities. Also want to look good in my Christmas party wear!
Useless on my own, need support to keep me on track!
Anyone in.............

I'm in. All my clothes are tight, and that's a very worrying position to be in before Christmas! I don't want to weigh myself though ...

I should dig out shred again. I enjoyed it before but I'm a bit scared of it now. I think because of the every day thing.

My problem is I make a lot of cakes - got to stop licking bowls (not literally) and nibbling on offcuts!

Good Morning all!

I'm also on the 'look and feel better by Xmas' thread, but half a stone is exactly my target, so would love to join this thread too!

I'm using MyFitnessPal too, I'm 5'3" and my target is 1200 calories.

I'm struggling to figure out what my weight at the moment is though... Have recently moved house and every room is carpeted except the kitchen which has these slate type tiles which are a bit uneven. So don't trust my scales......

Anyone know a way round this / would a big flat piece of cardboard underneath give the scales a more accurate reading? Hmm

At the moment the scales say 9 stone 6, but am a bit distrustful of this. I feel a lot more....

Morning,

Just a little tip for anyone struggling on 1200 cals a day - just make sure you do some exercise every day to increase your calorie allowance. It doesn't have to be serious / hard exercise! I (very sadly) put my sports tracker app on whilst I was out Christmas shopping on Saturday and was very pleased to see that I'd walked 5 miles and burned nearly 500 calories Grin

If anyone likes Ice Skating maybe you could take your kids for a treat this weekend - ice Skating is exceleent for family fun AND burning calories.

Good tip sweetheart

At the moment I'm doing zilch exercise (excuse - it's cold!) and 1200 cals is a struggle when you're not burning cals

Can I join in too please?

I am 11 stone - my "slim weight" is 9 st 12 - have put a stone on in the last 18 months for various teasons. I have set myself a target of getting to 10st 3 on the 5:2 diet, which I started Monday. But half a stone before Christmas would be brilliant.

I had a "fast" day on Monday - managed 589 calories which is over the 500 but the best I could do.

Today is my next "fast" day and I'm having an apple and a white coffee as a mid-morning snack. I've got skinny soup for lunch and supper and some fruit.

I'm using MFP to keep track of the calories - it's brilliant, isn't it? Never used it before this week.

Have a good day everyone!

Hi guys

52 MFP really is a godsend!

Have just read on another thread that my 'slim weight' or ideal weight for my height (I'm a short arse), is apparently 8'10"! I don't think I've been 8 anything for over 20 years! (Am 35....)

I honestly don't think it's possible for my body frame to get below 9, altho others of my height seem to manage it easily. I don't think I was made to be 'skinny', just want to look healthy. I'd be happy with something in the early 9 stone region.

There's a helpful thread at the moment about finding the healthy weight for your height. Someone posted a helpful chart - pinched it for easy ref for everyone! www.nutriactiva.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/BMI-Chart-eng.png

Me please. Ive just today started my new healthy eating plan.

Had to have toast for breakfast cos we had nothing else in, but have been shopping now, and got lots of chicken and fish.

I'm following a plan a friend told me about where you have porridge for breakfast, eggs for lunch and then chicken or fish meal for dinner.
You can have apples or bananas or nuts as snacks.

It sounds quite boring, but i do love chicken and fish, and eggs so i think i'll be ok.

Ive just bought some green tea aswell, and was expecting to hate it, but it's lovely. I got the one with apple and pear in.

I am 5'2 and current weight is 11 stone 5. My goal weight is 9 stone, but i'd be happy with anything of before xmas.

Last time I did MFP I went from 78kg to 72kg in about 4 weeks. Definitely worked due to the exercise factor. I'm struggling at the moment as one dc is off school and its too cold anyway.

Those that graze and pick, are you giving up or grazing on healthy stuff?

Report
wem · 28/11/2012 12:07

TheOriginalNutcracker - do you sweeten your porridge? I love porridge but I don't think I could have it unsweetened, bleugh.

AsparagusFern · 28/11/2012 12:15

Twooter I'm a big time grazer. So I've 'cunningly' chosen a healthy eating plan that approves of grazing (as long as its healthy!).

I'm trying to follow low GI / low GL principles - so the idea is you make sure you eat something every 3-4 hours to keep blood sugar levels stable (so you don't feel hungry then binge).

My snacks at the moment are things like:

  • two oatcakes, a scraping of Flora olive spread and a low fat mini Babybel

  • berries (eg. blueberries/raspberries) and two dollops no fat Greek yoghurt (a great snack, but damn - berries are expensive)

  • reduced fat hummus on a rye cracker

  • apple and small piece of low fat cheese

Wem I have porridge for breakfast and have it with berries in - makes it sufficiently sweet I find, but still healthy

Hi all. Can I join? I'm trying to lose that dratted last stone of baby weight (well, toddler weight now) and have managed to lose 4 lb in the last 6 weeks so not much more to go. I started keeping a log of food but would be great to use an app for this - MFP - is that an app?

Report
Joycey29 · 28/11/2012 12:26

Morning all - umm that will be afternoon - where did that go!
So I m trying mfp but was way over 1200 yesterday - oops
Like the ww app as cushion of extra points makes me feel better!
Been good so far today - but it's all going to go wrong later - I can tell! Sad

WW worked brilliantly for me when I had four stone to lose, but now I just want to shift 7lbs, it just doesn't seem to work. Maybe it's the new propoints system, or maybe it's those extra buffer points! Also, the minimun they let you have is 29 points which is equivelant to roughly 1450 calories. As I'm techically not overweight anyway, that is just too many or me, and if I use the extra points too, then I just don't lose.

Strict 1200 calories a day seems to work, and because it's so few calories, I'm forced to choose healthier options. Man, I love crisps. And Cheese. For some reason, after months of fannying around and not getting anywhere, really having no willpower and craving stuff, this week I seem to have go into the zone.

AsparagusFern, you could pop into Boots and weight yourself, their scales are accurate.

Agree that WW pro points don't work as well for last few pounds so its MFP all the way now - joycey29 if you want to buddy up!
Also bought shred DVD so watch this space.......

Thank you - have downloaded mfp and already logged Monday and Tuesday, it seems very quick and easy to use.

Thanks AsparagusFern, I might try to get a big bag of frozen mixed berries. They go a bit slushy when defrosted but that's ok stirred through porridge or yoghurt. Should be cheaper than fresh berries anyway.

At the end of this, it will be interesting to note who has stuck to their plan and whether they've managed to lose their target in the time. We can all learn from this for the future.

Wem - I don't actually like porridge normally, so I am going to try it with raisins and a tiny blob of golden syrup. I'm hoping to cut the syrup out gradually though once I get used to the porridge.

Same with the brown rice. I have bought some sweet chilli sauce to drizzle over that, which I will cut down on as i get used to it.

musttidyupBeforeSantaComes · 28/11/2012 14:25

I have a generous amount of syrup. I figure the goodness in the porridge makes up for it so allow 50-60 cals worth. Very sweet and delicious!
