So I m up for a little Xmas weight loss! Basically, I know at Xmas I put on weight so want to be well below my 'buffer zone' to enable me to join the festivities. Also want to look good in my Christmas party wear!
Useless on my own, need support to keep me on track!
Anyone in.............

Yet 2lb loss for me this week. I have religiously stuck to the 1200 cals this week, although not had any time to exercise other than walking with pram yesterday. So that's 5lb in 3 weeks. And more importantly I squeezed into my black stretchy Uniqlo skinny trousers which I haven't worn for 2 years as they are a size 10!!

One more week to go until I finish for Xmas and its going to be very hard not to put it all back on. Am going to inlaws for a week and they've bought us guest passes at their gym so might actually be able to burn off Xmas pudding while they mind the twins.

ceeveebee · 15/12/2012 10:30

Yet was supposed to say yey!!

fedupofnamechanging · 15/12/2012 11:07

Weighed in at 9.3, so a small loss for me. MIL came round yesterday with a mountain of chocolate for the dc, so it is a struggle to resist.

Christmas can't come fast enough for me. I'm not hungry (not excessively, anyway, but I am desperate for a piece of cake!)

Joycey29 · 15/12/2012 17:46

Just baking with kids and for the hell of it weighed out 4lb in flour!
OMG - I was carrying that around all the time! Really helped me feel positive despite some dodgy days!Blush
We need to stop worrying about Xmas dinners! I started the thread to lose some weight so I could enjoy Xmas without really putting on, don't get me wrong I don't want to put it all back on but at least I now have a buffer against Xmas - I can enjoy and if I put on a pound or two I won't be tipping the scales at more than when I started!
Enjoy the festive season - and be good when you can but remember every lb is a buffer against just getting bigger and bigger and bigger Grin

Joycey very true!

Have been doing really well (and just bought a size 10 pair of jeans - see frustrated apple thread if any interested apples), for first time since the mid 90s, surely. (Though admittedly you have to go down a size with the brand I bought!)

But last night was another Xmas party - huge Italian meal, three glasses white wine, then today a fry up and a mince pie. Eek!

But have been so good all season and no point being a martyr the whole time. Fully intend on keeping 1200 cals as my default for non party days.

I think I'd just got into a frame of mind where eating loads was my default option, and that's not healthy. But after the past few weeks, feel very positive about new eating habits and feeling good about 2013 Xmas Smile

plaingirly · 15/12/2012 18:22

Only lost 0.6 this week. Plus have only lost 1 inch of my waist and bust in 4 weeks.

Think I am going to have to start some sort of weight lifting programme with my dumbbells!

TheProvincialLady · 15/12/2012 18:29

I have been lurking since last Wednesday when I decided to join you. Signed up for MFP and have been sticking to the 1200 calories a day. No speoial exercise but I do walk quite a lot. Bugger me if I haven't lost 6lbs in 10 daysShock So am now 7st 10lbs. My goal now is just to keep at this weight until Christmas. I don't particularly want to lose any more but I don't want to put any back on either, so I was thinking of eatng 1500 calories instead. Does that sound the right sort of amount? In case anyone worries about the seemingly low-ish weight - I am only 5'2" and a healthy weight for me is anything from 7st 4lbs. I haven't ever really needed to diet before but the chocolate consumption has been creeping up a lot lately. Thanks for the motivation!

AsparagusFern · 15/12/2012 18:40

Welcome provinciallady

Don't worry plain. My weight loss has definitely slowed down too (and this was before the Italian and the fry up). It's just the way of it..... We just need to keep ploughing on.

Exercise is so hard in this weather too. I'm so cold when I get up in the morning I think it's an achievement to make it to the shower!

ceeveebee · 15/12/2012 20:52

provincial well done! I think if you edit your profile on mfp to state your new weight and your goal of maintaining, it will give you a new target for calories.

TheProvincialLady · 16/12/2012 08:18

Oh that is really helpful thanks, ceeveebee. I'll do it now.

Movingforward123 · 16/12/2012 09:56

Hi everyone, well my dd has been sick for 3 days and I'm stuck at home with no car! So been feeling quite crap about it all. In the past two days I have eaten a lint bunny each day which were meant to be Xmas presents for dd! Each one was 500 calories SadSad

So I havnt lost any weight, actually I've put on a tiny bit as I was 9.13.2 I'm now 9.13.6 and I should be 9.12 tomorrow if I carried on loosing 2lbs per week.

It's just so hard to be home alone with dd for the whole day and we can't even leave our house. She's still unwell today, I hope I can stick to 1200 today!

Even if I would do a exercise DVD that would help but I just can't be arsed so lazy over here! Serious motivation needed!!

Movingforward123 · 16/12/2012 10:52

Bug good news is, I have lost 2 inches off my waist and 2 inches off my hips and 1 inch from underneath my breasts! So I'm really happy with that SmileSmile

Hopefully that will keep me motivated for a while!!

Joycey29 · 17/12/2012 07:26

Go Moving that's made me want to measure!
Just been using my clothes as a guide but yesterday my dad commented on how trim I was looking - yay! Grin
We are doing well girlies!

Morning all and good luck in our last week before Xmas!

Congrats joycey and moving on the lost inches.

If I have just one night out / Xmas party day, then it seems to put me right back to where I was the week before and takes me almost a week to get back to where I was. Am coming to the conclusion that every bite of a mince pie really shows on us shorties.....so unfair! Xmas Envy

However - onwards and upwards. We're all still here and trying - which counts for a lot, I reckon! Smile

Madmog · 17/12/2012 15:37

I've stuck really well to not eating much this week and have also avoided the three Xmas meals I had planned, as I had something similar to flu which then developed into a chest infection. My weigh in is tomorrow, surely I've lost another pound or two! Have to say my tummy feels a bit flabby though, I think that's down to the fact I've done no exercise.

fedupofnamechanging · 18/12/2012 08:00

I messed up spectacularly yesterday and had 3 freddos, a penguin, 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and a large glass of Glayva on top of my normal calories! Am very cross with myself, but back on the wagon now! I think I used up all my allowed calories too early in the day yesterday and got the mega munchies in the evening.

Am at 9.2 and a half this morning.

AsparagusFern · 18/12/2012 09:42

Madmog Hope you're feeling a bit better.

karma That's so funny - I was in Tesco just yesterday eyeing up the penguins! They were by the till and I just thought, hmm, I haven't had one of those in aaages!

Weigh in today has me at 9.1 stone - the lowest I've been since I started this (was 9.6/7).

However, I still don't look ALL that different to be honest, though waist band is definitely looser. Maybe someone of my height (5'3") really does need to go below 9 stone to look slim...?!

fedupofnamechanging · 18/12/2012 12:03

Asparagus, am 5'2" and have been using mfp to record measurements of my waist and hips. Mine are not that different to how they were when I was half a stone heavier. This is making me think that I am now losing from places where I wouldn't necessarily want to lose weight, like my face and boobs.

The last time I did a major weight loss, I got below 9 stone and although my waist, tummy, bum and legs looked great, my face looked very thin and my boobs virtually disappeared. I guess it might come to a choice of either getting to a 'perfect' weight or setting for something which makes us look better generally, even if it is not as slim as we would have ideally liked.

I think I would be happy with 9 stone ish, if only I could stay off the chocolate and shift these last few pounds. Never thought it would be this hatd at the tail end of my diet.

plaingirly · 18/12/2012 18:11

I have lost 8 pounds and an inch off my waist - just hoping not to put it all back on again!

I am sure I can feel muscles growing but I may just be imagining it as I haven't been exercising very long at all!

AsparagusFern · 18/12/2012 20:59

Congrats Plain! That's brill. I think muscle does respond quite quickly to exercise, so you never know!

Karma Yes, I feel your pain. I am also reluctant to lose too much weight and boob-age! And yet - at the weight I am currently, I can still grab rolls of fat. (Sorry - tmi.)

I just went into town this eve in fact, tried on some clothes and I'm still definitely a 12, not a 10. I wonder what the happy medium is?

It'd be great if someone could sound a klaxon when you start to lose too much / risk boob loss. Then you would know that if you're still not as slim as you'd like at that point, you'd just have to put up and shut up if you wanted to save the boobs! Xmas Smile

ceeveebee · 18/12/2012 21:15

I find that when dieting, all the weight comes off my top half - I can feel all my ribs and my waist is pretty well defined now - but I think I can only slim down on the thighs/hips by doing lots of cardio. Running is the best way to lose inches IMO but I really can't find the time to go more than once a week at the moment so stuck with doing DVDs which don't have same effect on me!

musttidyupBeforeSantaComes · 18/12/2012 21:41

I hear you Karma. I really want to lose weight from my still large middle but my legs/face get thinner and not my belly. Getting to the point where I think I'd rather keep my boobs and a little padding and put up with a non existent thick waist.
Great to hear your progress plaingirly you must be delighted- it's a great motivator to see results. I loved it the first time I felt my hipbones. Grin
Have lost 2 pounds since thread started and am delighted to have bought my first ever dress in a size 10 today. I think maybe I'm done.

fedupofnamechanging · 19/12/2012 06:45

In the words of the great Hugh Grant - fuckity fuck! Am back up to 9.3!

That's it now - NO MORE JUNK FOOD! I have less than a week to shift some of this now.

Madmog · 19/12/2012 09:32

Thanks for your good wishes ASPARAGUS. Just feeling very tired now. I haven't been eating much with being unwell, but at the same time haven't been exercising. doing much housework, going to work - all the things that burn the calories! Anyway, just done my weigh in and I lost half pound this week, so that 5.5lbs in total. Fell off the rails yesterday. Had bought some Belguim chocs for a secret santa which got cancelled. They were calling yesterday, so I had 3 lovely yummy choccies, just worried as the rest of the box is sat at my side.

ASPARAGUS and PLAIN congratulations on your loss. The losses are beginning to sound good.

plaingirly · 19/12/2012 19:33

Soooooo full!! Just need to lie down for a while! Almost a day of calories in one meal ..... not the best idea ever.
