So I m up for a little Xmas weight loss! Basically, I know at Xmas I put on weight so want to be well below my 'buffer zone' to enable me to join the festivities. Also want to look good in my Christmas party wear!
Useless on my own, need support to keep me on track!
Anyone in.............

karma totally agree. I've cut out sugar the last 2.5 weeks and I can feel a massive difference and cravings substantially reduced salivating over Dime bars yesterday aside

ceevee, moving and laptop I'm 5'2" and three quarters (so take the liberty of rounding up to 5'3")

I've just hit 9.2 stone today. I started at around 9.7 so am pleased. Amazed how big my muffin top still is though....

I really don't know how I'm going to shift that. So think I need to get to at least 9 stone.

(Am still a size 12 at 9 stone. Think I would have to be well under 9 stone to get down to a 10.)

laptopdancer · 10/12/2012 15:13

I have the lovely muffin top too but even have that when at a good weight. I find swimming helps reduce it (I do crawl).

Movingforward123 · 10/12/2012 15:22

Oh it's very strange that we all vary so much on size even thought we are all around the same height.

If I was 9 stone I think I would be 8-10 but 8 would be too tight if you see what I mean! But could fit Wink

If I was 8 stone I think I would be 6-8 that would be way too tiny for me. 9 stone is perfect Smile

laptopdancer · 10/12/2012 15:24

I think it depends on distribution...mine is all very much around my midriff

Movingforward123 · 10/12/2012 15:24

asparagus well done SmileSmile I'm Envy Grin

I have also found that cutting right back on sugar has helped my cravings. Before could easily manage a family sizes galaxy bar per day Confused

But now I have the chocolate snack a jacks or an options hot chocolate which are libel and also 40 calories!

AsparagusFern · 10/12/2012 15:47

Thanks moving! Xmas Smile

laptop I am the same - it's all around my flippin' midriff. I don't know about you, but I'm a classic apple (was moaning about this up post!).

I have fairly broad shoulders, large rib cage, moderately chesty and negligible hips and bum. This means I have never in living memory been a size 8 - not even when I was a teenager.

I think if I was nothing but skin and bones I still wouldn't fit into an 8 - my frame just wouldn't allow it. I would soooo love to be an 8 but it just doesn't seem attainable for me. (You can see me on MFP. BTW if anyone esle is on MFP btw and wants to message me their username, would love more moral support! Am friends with plain and joycey on there at the mo.)

There was a really interesting post on another thread recently about the different sizes/shapes people are at the same height/weight. Will try to find it!

AsparagusFern · 10/12/2012 16:04

Aha - found it! It was only the other week, you might've already seen it. Really interesting though. Shows how people just carry their weight differently.

www.cockeyed.com/photos/bodies/heightweight.html

I think what is universal though is that when you're around 5'2", if you put on a few extra pounds, it shows a lot more than on taller people. Probably stating bleedin' obvious So we have to be so much more careful - unfair! Envy

plaingirly · 10/12/2012 16:48

I'm 5'2" and a 1/4!

Miles off a size 10 though!

AsparagusFern · 10/12/2012 17:00

You're going great guns and getting there though plain! Smile

fedupofnamechanging · 10/12/2012 18:49

Are we all 5'2" on this thread, then? At 9.5, I am a size 12, but it really does depend on the clothes. I bought the jeggings from M&S yesterday, in a 12, and they are a lovely fit, but the skirt from M&S in the same size is a bit big on the waist, although it is about right on the hips. I always think of M&S as generous in their sizing, so I think I would be a 14 in some shops the ones for skinny teenagers, anyway.

AsparagusFern · 10/12/2012 19:16

Yes, it so depends on clothes. That's why I don't really like buying clothes online - it's so hit and miss.

plaingirly · 10/12/2012 19:22

I wonder what weight I would have to be to be a size 10.

13 stones 2 pounds was a 16 on me.

Can't believe I have lost 8 pounds so far - just got to keep it up! And survive all the temptations!

Movingforward123 · 10/12/2012 19:23

And talking about that muffin top, I defiantly have that! And my belly is a jelly belly, so wobbly! And the skin will get looser as I loose weight Confused what am I going to do about it??

Movingforward123 · 10/12/2012 19:24

plain well done SmileSmile how long have you been trying to loose weight? Are you also on my fitness pal?

AsparagusFern · 10/12/2012 19:24

8 pounds is truly fab plain!

plaingirly · 10/12/2012 19:29

I am in week 4 of the Healthy Me Plan! :)

Love MFP - have the same user name there.

QuinnFabray · 10/12/2012 19:59

At 5'4 and 9stone6 I am a size 10, possibly a large 10 mind. I rarely wear jeans though, and dresses and skirts are generally more forgiving. At 8stone10, my lowest weight I was still mostly a 10, but the clothes I have fitted me better then. I expect I'm probably a 12 now to be honest, but I refuse to buy bigger clothes!

Joycey29 · 10/12/2012 22:32

Ok - really weird - am 5'2 and a bit!
Am quite sporty and at 10st 6 ( top of my buffer) am a comfortable 12.
I reckon that Boden use me as their model as their size 12 is me!
Would love to get below 10st but would settle to back in my buffer.
Am 2 lb off but had another crap day!
Roll on tomorrow!

musttidyupBeforeSantaComes · 10/12/2012 22:34

plaingirly depends on your frame. I was an 18 at nearly 13 stone and an 10/12 at 8.10. Think I'd be a 10 if I lost another half stone.

musttidyupBeforeSantaComes · 10/12/2012 22:36

joycey I think you must be one of those people with heavy bones! My bf is like that - way slimmer than me but a stone heavier.

AsparagusFern · 10/12/2012 23:32

joycey I think if you're really sporty and fit a lot of it will be muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. It's that thing of the BMI/weight thing not being a good indicator.

musttidyupBeforeSantaComes · 11/12/2012 09:08

Love that website someone linked to with the grid on.

AsparagusFern · 11/12/2012 09:21

The different sizes/shapes at the same height/weight? So interesting, huh!

HelgatheHairy · 11/12/2012 09:50

I'm back after a really bad day yesterday. I do 5:2 so fasted till dinner yesterday but end up having a pork chop & chips for dinner. Thought I'd blown it then and had romantica and microwave popcorn.

I have given up focusing on losing so am focused on maintaining but If I keep eating like that ill gain. So having a proper fast day today.

DH has started noticing my weight loss now too. He said my bum is smaller and I'm smaller all over. Xmas Grin I need to be really careful now because usually the moment people start commenting on the fact I've lost weight I panic and put it all on again. I have no idea why.

HelgatheHairy · 11/12/2012 09:53

Oh and I'm 5"3. Currently 10 stone 14. (I know, I know but it's what my scale has weighed me as 2 weeks in a row!) I'm a 16 on top and 16/18 on the bottom.

The lightest I have ever been was 8 stone 9 and I was 8/10 on top and 10/12 on the bottom. And I could wear knee high boots! Can't get my legs into them now!
