Who knows might try some on in 2014, probably around the same time as you do libertychick. Grin

MarshaBrady · 17/01/2013 11:46

(o that was because I saw a similar sentiment from liberty!)

AmberNectarine · 17/01/2013 12:08

I saw plum suede IM Bobbys in Matches. I had to practically hold my arm down to stop myself reaching for my card. No spend Jan has been a fail.

shopafrolic · 17/01/2013 13:07

So what is the difference between the Beas and the Bowies Anni?

OP posts:
Annianni · 17/01/2013 18:42

From my extensive research, nothing

The beas have 2 velcro straps and the bowies have one.

I was wandering around the house this morning with one of each on, and they felt the same heel height wise etc.

reluctantironer · 17/01/2013 18:56

Delurking to say big thank you to Annianni!
Have had my eye on Ash Beas for ages but just couldn't justify the price to myself.
However after reading your earlier post I ordered the taupe ones from Brandosa.

They arrived today and are fantastic - I love them - very comfortable and my stumpy legs have become long legs!

Topazandpearl · 17/01/2013 21:44

Another mostly lurker, sometime poster, who will missDona. Have a good break and come back soon! Like others, I have found your posts illuminating and confidence-building. Thank you.

I love my navy Bowies, even more comfortable than the dreaded Fitlops (which I wore all last summer). In this wearher, I appreciate how snuggled my feet feel!

libertychick · 17/01/2013 21:48

Grin Marsha yes I did comment on another thread that it can take me a while to feel comfortable with a trend - hate to tell you all that generally once I decide it's ok that's usually curtains for the style! I have moved from hating them to thinking they look ok so buy them quickly is all I can say because in about 6 months they will qualify as 'mum trainers'!

For the ultimate kiss of death there is an M&S version marginally saved by being limited collection rather than per una

libertychick · 17/01/2013 21:50

More comfortable than fitflops Topaz? Seriously??? Now I am interested...Grin off to google navy bowies

AmberNectarine · 17/01/2013 21:53

Don't mention Fitflops. It has historically got me into trouble.

libertychick · 17/01/2013 22:00

How so Amber?

shopafrolic · 17/01/2013 22:26

I thought the FF word was banned from this thread?!

OP posts:
Decameron · 18/01/2013 07:05

Ha ha, Amber! I also have a pair of Fitflops (shh). Never to be seen outside the house.

Really like my mum trainers navy Bowies. They should be renamed Ambers.

AmberNectarine · 18/01/2013 12:38

I have quite a few pairs of fitflops (including high tops). It is the white elephant in the corner that we never talk about.

I'll tweet Ash about the proposed name change. I reckon they could be brought on board.

It is taking a lot of effort not to just out fleece pyjamas on, as I have no intention of going back out there!!

MarshaBrady · 18/01/2013 13:09

Finally got my car back! They had it overnight. I walked to nursery this morning and had to carry ds2 there. God he is heavy. And in the the Lanvin wedge, as it started to snow. Nuts

I really should take more notice of impending snow storms. Thank god for copious amounts of industrial strength suede protector and rubber soles.

Love your new top Decam.

Grin Liberty same as me then.

Amber yes they should be Ambers.

libertychick · 18/01/2013 22:04

I had a team building thing near Marylebone today so afterwards I had the joy of 2 hours on my own on Marylebone High Street - I practically skipped down the street in the snow!

Had to make the most of my time so I went to Gerard Darel as Amber has mentioned them so often for workwear and had a great time trying on stuff and bought a this dress in black and some black cigarette pants - both at 60% off and have found a replacement for Hobbs for workwear - result!

Then went to Aubin and Wills and got this lovely white shirt and a red and cream stripe sweater which isn't on the website.

As I was passing I decided to pop into Ash and challenge myself and try on the Bowies! I can see the appeal - my legs looked very long and lovely but they made my feet look weirdly short. I have confirmed they are not me. But I love these ones so will start hunting them down at a lower price.

Then spent a happy 20 mins, inspired by Dona, in Diptyque trying out gorgeous smells - currently wearing something fresh starting with a V!!! It's lovely so next time I get in there I will have to buy it, provided 'fresh beginning with a v' is enough of a clue for the sales person at the time - why did I not write it down Confused

In short, I had a fab day!

libertychick · 18/01/2013 22:07

Oh and re Marsha's query this should be the liberty although it will be 13 years and 5 months (time left on mortgage) before I could actually own the bag named in my honour!

AmberNectarine · 18/01/2013 22:26

Glad you found GD good liberty, I really love their stuff, but it has been derided on here as for 'mature' ladies. I don't think that is the case at all, but meh.

Discovered a new brand recently, for fans of Maje and Sandro, check out Claudie Pierlot. They have a concession in HN and I loved their stuff!

shopafrolic · 18/01/2013 22:33

I am in mourning, if you haven't seen my other thread, Aubin & Wills are closing down. Where will I shop now?????

OP posts:
libertychick · 18/01/2013 22:36

Like the look of the CP stuff Amber - thanks for the link. I think the GD stuff looks a bit 'mature' on the website etc but it looks much better on - the dress I linked to is far sexier on than it looks - I am fairly small busted but that dress makes my body look more balanced. And the staff were lovely, they just left me to it and I was pottering around the shop in bare feet wearing one of their dresses for about half an hour with no pressure at all - unlike the evil witches in Matches (which I spent about 5 mins in) who clearly recognised I wasn't in a league that would help their commissions!

Portia4 · 19/01/2013 07:26

Another GD fan here for work wear. GD was the handbag brand of choice for DD2s friends in her class in France (aged15/16!) - this always fascinated me, not a Juicy bag in sight!

AmberNectarine · 19/01/2013 08:07

They do nice bags, I like the 24 hour one. I thought GD had a great season for AW12, lots of lovely rich colours, sparkle, leather and animal print. Ticks all my boxes!

Did you not already know shop? They are closing A&W to concentrate on Jack Wills. Damn shame tbh. I remember, years ago, I was organising a charity fashion show and JW had just started - they couldn't push their clothes at us hard enough. We used some, but 17 year old me Hooghly they were v boring and wore the D&G lent by Harvey Nics. Funny they've gone on to be teen brand of choice!

AmberNectarine · 19/01/2013 08:08

Hooghly?? Thought!!

MarshaBrady · 19/01/2013 08:25

Love your dress Liberty. Gorgeous colour and shape. Great shopping, sounds like a lovely day.

Shop oh no! What a shame. Hate it when places that I love close. If they ever shut Liberty I'd be so upset. I can only imagine those huge stores are in a better place lease/ownership, however it works. Otherwise how does Debenhans do it! Prime location, shoddy interior.

Amber that looks good, will check it out.

And for Dona I'm going to put forward Dior. The Dior dona, maybe vintage.

Projects were discussed and vague mentions of when and depending on new business wins. So quite vague, I need actual dates for nursery to book it in. I don't fancy rushing around looking for cc like I did last year.

Also not sure how much work stuff I'd buy. Minimal, and go for non-work SS.
