Yes no no

What I should I call the room with toys in which is not a sitting room?

We don't have any Lego...

Fizzylemonade · 13/10/2012 18:51

Am I meant to call the playroom the children's lounge? Confused

It is a room, they play in it, it has all their toys in it, plus a sofa where they sit to play on the wii. It is downstairs and isn't a bedroom. Totally confused as to what to call it. Does its location count? If so it would be the front room.

overmydeadbody · 13/10/2012 18:57

no no and no

WiseKneeHair · 13/10/2012 18:58

Yes
No, but would like one.
Yes

We also have a room called the Snug.

Do I massively and definitely lose? Grin

RhinestoneCowgirl · 13/10/2012 19:04

playroom - no because we have no space
spice rack - god no (spices have to lurk in a dark cupboard)
feature wall - no, but we do have a sort of portal to a parallel dimension light fitting/tv thing that DH made in the living room

OwedToAutumn · 13/10/2012 19:10

We used to have a feature wall in our playroom.

We no longer have either.

I do have a mahoosive spice drawer, though.

HeeeresThing3 · 13/10/2012 19:14

Playroom - I wish! Instead all the DDs toys are in the living room as their bedrooms are like match boxes.

Spice rack - Yes, my kitchen hasn't got enough cupboards and they were pissing me off getting in my way!

Feature wall - No, I rent so the walls are all neutral.

FrankensteinWippery · 13/10/2012 19:17

Have a playroom. Am I doomed then?

MrsBovary · 13/10/2012 19:18

Yes, a playroom.

No spice rack, and definitely no feature wall.

LynetteScavo · 13/10/2012 19:19

Who actually uses a spice rack? I only use cinnamon and nutmeng. My nutmeg is 5 years out of date. The ginger is probably geriatric. I think I bought it when DS1 was 2. He's now 13.

My feature walls don't count. I mean they are different from the rest of the room, but they aren't a feature.

We no longer have a playroom. Which is why the DC's bedrooms don't look like they are out of a magazine.

Please explain what we are supposed to call the room with all the toys, a big tv, board games and a big old sofa? I'd rather stab myself in the eye than use the word lounge.

I'm now going to provide you with some of the words we use for rooms in our house. You may hurl:

Playroom
Cloakroom
Study
Nursery
Drawing room
Dressing room

There aren't any feature walls but only because we haven't decorated yet. There are no twigs or pebbles but yesterday DH out a pair of painted antlers up on the stairs and I love them.

beachyhead · 13/10/2012 19:28

We have a den and a spice cupboard, no feature wall as such... One wall in said den is slightly darker than the others!!!

ravenAK · 13/10/2012 19:31

Bugger! We have a playroom.

One of my mates was enthusiastically telling me all about his playroom last night - we were at a gig & I'd mentioned that other friends were staying with us 'in the playroom'.

Mutual embarrassment ensued once we established that I meant 'the room in which we keep lego & tatty sofas' & he meant 'the room in which I pour custard over latex clad models & take photographs of them for specialist publications'.

No no and no.
I also don't say Poorly sick, which someone has just updated themselves as on FB. I literally did a throttle sign with my hands whilst rolling my eyes.

And it is a policeman who used it what is the world coming to?

SaraBellumHertz · 13/10/2012 19:39

I have a friend, a partner in a law firm, who referred to herself as being "poorly sick".

I should probably kill her

FrankensteinWippery · 13/10/2012 19:40

SBH - you should. I'm quite shocked that you haven't already tbh.

SaraBellumHertz · 13/10/2012 19:40

Although I have a playroom...people in glass orangeries...

Inneedofbrandy · 13/10/2012 19:41

I use my spices every time I cook. Don't you ever cook?

missorinoco · 13/10/2012 19:41

I have two spice racks! Alarmingly these are about fifteen years old, and pre date my marriage, hence we have two. I have a sneaking suspicion one or two of the orginal spices may still be in there. Gulp. Also have two shelves of a cupboard full of spices, but can't bear to chuck my rack cos my Mum bought it, and DH won't chuck his because that would involve thinking about it.
Is there a declutter thread? I should go off to find one, especially as the spice racks are full of empty bottles.

But no feature wall, all magnolia are equally bland. No playroom, I wish, come back sitting room I know you are there under the toys somewhere.

Gah, MN, now you have me thinking I should really sort of my kitchen cupboards.

FrankensteinWippery · 13/10/2012 19:41

Cook? That's what the staff are for.

Inneedofbrandy · 13/10/2012 19:43

If I had a cook, I would also have someone to spray my rugs Sad and have a playroom a parlour a rumpus room and a boot room. Sad
