I have grown out my hair and it is entirely natural and light brown. I wear it wavy/curly and it is just on my bra strap.

I am liking this blonde dip dye effect.

At 33 am I to old and will it be a bit try hard. Will I regret reaching for the bottle now I am finally natural?

I was tempted by your talk of henna but when I had a look on my fave non porn site vogue au I found out you can't use if you have previously chemically dyed your hair as it may turn pond green and if you don't like the henna colour you are left with you can't have it dyed at a hairdresser until it has grown out!? That is a long time for long hair.

PacificDogwood · 22/08/2012 23:29

Mere weeks days, my dear, mere days.

Now done it 3x, DH calls it 'pond scum', lovingly, I am sure..
I last used henna as a student, a short quarter century ago Shock

Yy, dog is v handsome. Like the sign too Grin.

Wet chalk run chalk down strand of hair. Lasts 24 hours.

Kool Aid ones last about a month and are very striking.

coco, I left most of my hair on my pillow after each pregnancy.
I am not very precious about my hair, but do prefer it when people don't larf at me.
I am not sure I'd mess with my own hair colour if it had not decided to partially leave me and leave fecking grey behind

I got fed up with time and money spent at hairdresser's for expensive dye jobs, so hey presto, Lush's my new bestest friend.

PacificDogwood · 22/08/2012 23:32

Koolaid chalk??

Hmm I googled chalking it looks a bit if a faff. If there are ones that stay in it would be ok.
Looks nice though.

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 22/08/2012 23:34

No, the kids are boiling Kool aid and dipping strands of hair in to get semi perm crazy coloured highlights.

Started after they discovered dog groomers use beetroot and Kool aid on poodles.

I don't see the difference to temporary sprays/pastes.
And it comes off onto your clothes during the day.
Its like the time, a hundred years ago, when I hennaed my hair. I got caught in the rain and it all started to drip red down my face. My poor mum nearly fainted when I walked in.

AmberLeaf · 23/08/2012 07:01

Wow my son told me about the Koolaid thing and I thought the person that told him was winding him up!

How does that work then? I'm assuming you need either fair hair or chemically lightened hair for it to 'take'?

ScumbagCollegeDropout · 23/08/2012 07:05

cocolepew I have visions of this No wonder your mum nearly fainted Grin

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 23/08/2012 07:22

Amber. Apparently the lighter the hair the better but you don't need to bleach it to get it to take.

cocolepew · 23/08/2012 10:11

Haha! Not quite as bad as Carrie Grin

ThisOnce · 23/08/2012 10:20

You can use kool aid to dye clothes too so makes sense.

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 23/08/2012 19:09

I have just discovered you can colour your own hair on Taaz, not just the hair styles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats loads of fun Grin

PooPooOnMars · 24/08/2012 13:17

Oooh I like it! I think you should do it. I think I might do it!

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 24/08/2012 18:21

I have now in my possession a tint brush and an ash blonde...

Do I

A. Pontificate a lot and do it next week?
Or
B. Wait till the dcs are in bed and just go nuts?

I am very concerned about this honeydragon only because I have been in your position before and spent the next day at the hairdressers, more than 3 times. Make sure you know what you're doing.

FYI - I reported my link but mumsnet replied saying there was no porn on it, just Vogue AU. If you get porn you may want to do a virus check on your computer?

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 24/08/2012 18:55

I opened your link on my lap top too Strawberry and no porn, just vogue Smile

I guess if it goes tits up I can cut it shorter and tint over the fuck up Wink

Good! Will you be drinking wine before this application?

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 24/08/2012 18:57

Incidentally what did you do Strawberry?

I had an emergency hair dresser trip when I failed to notice the hair colour in the bottle was not the same as the box Shock

Since I'm to mean to have my hi lights redone more than every six months mine goes like that for freeGrin

GraceInTheCity · 24/08/2012 19:14

I like it!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 24/08/2012 19:17

Oh wow, I would be calling the cosmetics company for some compensation if that happened!!

Unfortunately I got a bit drunk and thought doing my highlights myself would be a good idea, in reality I sat in the bath pasting bright blonde onto my roots in no particular fashion and it was awful. The next day I was due to go on a weekend away with exbf to a lovely spa hotel and spent the day in a hairdressers, crying. I was still unhappy at the end of it and the hairdresser ended up crying too..that wasn't good.

I also had blonde hair extensions in when I was around 18 which I thought would look lovely copper...copper dye turns blonde pink..who knew? I had to dye it all black which was a bit shocking and the next time I went to the hairdressers to have it lightened my hair started burning and smoking. Blush.

After I had dd I had a bit of a hair dying phase and tried to dye my lovely highlighted hair a medium brown but I didn't manage to cover all of the hair so I had horizontal streaks of my highlights going across my hair.

Whatever you do don't drink and dye Grin

StrawberrytallCAKE · 24/08/2012 19:19

oh yes and I once tried to dye my hair a bright blonde colour which went peach and blonde...I was likened to a porn star and with 34b's that's an achievement.
