Good style blogs that aren't all about plugging some product/company

I like style blogs but I really do find it frustrating when posts are clearly plugging a particular company. There are some bloggers who make it clear that items have been gifted or they've been asked to review a product and they do give an honest opinion - that's fine. However there are those who read like a press release and it just makes me feel like I'm being taken for a fool.

I like Doesmybumlook40 which is often mentioned on here, but any others?

Linking is too tricky on my phone but blogs I like are

Suburban Style
School Gate Style
40 Bum
Worn Out
Not Dressed as Lamb
Style Guile

CagneyNLacey · 12/08/2012 14:58

I like loads actually but can't currently think of any others.

TenaPenny · 12/08/2012 15:14

yeah im a bit meh on school gate style and style guile is just a tiny perky woman in blue converse by a pink door

CagneyNLacey · 12/08/2012 15:26

Arf!

TenaPenny · 12/08/2012 15:28

i feel i know these peoples houses as well as a stalker. and one has photos of her bathroom all the time, prob has a picture saying WASH or similar.
and 4 bum cannot stand with her legs together :)

noddyholder · 12/08/2012 15:37

I don't like the mummy ones at all. Does my bum is ok but she dresses like all my friends so nothing new although I think she looks good. I quite like teh more way out ones as they are so serious about it all it is very funny.Jo's clothes is good too I used to love travinia but she stopped

CagneyNLacey · 12/08/2012 16:04

See I like the 'mummy' ones- after emerging from 2 years of being pregnant and having 2 babies I really had no ability to get myself looking vaguely human shaped again. I had no clue and they really helped me just get a few bits to leave the house in, without looking like a bag of shit tied in the middle with string.

I now look at a few more fashiony blogs too. I suppose when people ask about style blogs I just assume they need as much help as I did Blush No offense op!

NotMostPeople · 12/08/2012 16:21

I'm not that wild about Style Guile either, she seems nice enough but a bit meh. School gate is a terror for plugging things and is a bit ordinary really. Both of them write much longer posts when theres something in it for them. Whilst doesyourbum has a set look I do quite like her writing and it seems genuine.

Will go and look at the others mentioned.

Bum is very funny in rl. I like a lot.

NotMostPeople · 12/08/2012 16:49

No offence taken Cagney I don't think I need help although I could be in denial! I just like style blogs in the same way I love flicking through magazines except the blogs are real people rather than size zero seventeen year olds.

There is also:

Poppy's Style

Wendy's Lookbook

What I wore

or

Atlantic Pacific

and of course WIT who is currently pregnant but still very stylish.

NotMostPeople · 12/08/2012 17:09

Ahh yes Wendy's look book is fab.

Keep them coming Please I have the school holidays to get through.

another vote for doesmybum.. she seems very real and I contacted her directly to ask about an item of clothing and she replied quickly and was very chatty and friendly, seemed genuinely touched that people were reading and interested in her blog. another good blog although for beauty not fashion is www.strawberryblondebeauty.com/ again Nic I think her name is seems a really nice person.

noddyholder · 12/08/2012 17:23

Yes tena i have friends who are friends with her via twitter she posts there too. She just looks like everyone i know!

noddyholder · 12/08/2012 17:35

some good bits

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/08/2012 17:43

I don't mind 'Does My Bum' but she looks virtually the same all the time and she is so painfully thin. And she spends far more money than I can afford. Don't like Style Guile or School Gate Style at all and they are v Primark-ish. Lol at 'tiny perky woman.' :)

Wendy is gorgeous but she wears tiny shorts and skirts all the time and I'm not young or skinny enough to do that now.

I quite like Kendi Everyday, although she's rather more colourful than I tend to want.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/08/2012 17:45

What I wore = sometimes good and sometimes bloomin' awful.

donotsquandertime · 12/08/2012 17:50

that looks good noddy.. i like having a nose what people are wearing Smile

MrsRyanLochte · 12/08/2012 18:24

I really like StyleGuile Blush

She always looks very neat and together and uses colour really well. She also doesn't over accessorize which I find to be a big problem with so many blogs (i.e. atlantic pacific) which is just not my style at all. I also wish I had her bone structure to carry off her pixie cut. She is tiny and perky though, but in a good way I think.

WIT very variable I think. Sometimes excellent, sometimes horrendous (horrendous usually when it comes to shoe choices - those studded leopard print loafers anyone?!)

Love Kendi - agree that her use of colour perhaps more suited to Texan climes than rainy England.

Not strictly style only, but I really like A Cup of Jo as she posts about loads of different stuff and links to lots of other interesting things on the web so its not all 'look at me and my perfect life'

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/08/2012 18:29

Yes - WIT's shoes are often truly vile and the loafers are the worst!

AmberNectarine · 12/08/2012 18:47

I love WIT's leopard loafers! If I had a grand spare I'd be buying them!

Style Guile pisses me off. She chunters on, ripping the piss out of trendy mummies who wear a 'uniform' of certain brands (Acne, Kooples etc - stuff I like basically) and ironically is just as prescriptive with her style, just using other brands.

SGS I can't get excited about, but that is because I am a bit of a fashion snob.

Love Wendy, Atlantic Pacific, style bubble - the usual suspects.

noddyholder · 12/08/2012 18:56

Stylebubble great for all teh variety

justasecond · 12/08/2012 19:12

Style guile is a bit frumpy but I like 40 Bum and suburban style also good.

MrsCampbellBlack · 12/08/2012 19:15

I love Atlantic Pacific but she is utterly stunning and teeny tiny which makes most clothes look pretty amazing.

I also like Doesmybum but she is such a different size/shape to me that none of her stuff would work on me but I like her writing and she's lovely on twitter.

WIT is good too - like her mix of stuff. I guess I like the more aspirational blogs [story of my life] Wink
