Good style blogs that aren't all about plugging some product/company

I like style blogs but I really do find it frustrating when posts are clearly plugging a particular company. There are some bloggers who make it clear that items have been gifted or they've been asked to review a product and they do give an honest opinion - that's fine. However there are those who read like a press release and it just makes me feel like I'm being taken for a fool.

I like Doesmybumlook40 which is often mentioned on here, but any others?

Yes she is mega thin though under weight if anything but the shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!More my style than any of the others though but £££

ken0eddie0kennedy · 12/08/2012 19:19

I'm bored with 'Bum' now...I'm sure she's lovely but it's all a variation on a theme - ie loose tops, tight trews....& I can tell a mile off when she's been given something to plug.

holler · 12/08/2012 19:22

Big fan of 40 bum lady and worn out. I like there to be some level of aspiration and fresh ideas rather than just putting on primark's latest offering. I can do that bit myself ;)

ken0eddie0kennedy · 12/08/2012 19:23

That Atlantic one is beautiful!

noddyholder · 12/08/2012 19:23

Yes she isn't really stylish as such just does a formula. Some of the cheaper stuff isn;t nice either. I like that she has long hair though and is 'older' although don't think as old as me!

noddyholder · 12/08/2012 19:24

atlantic pacific is different league and she has NO BOOBS! which looks great but hard to replicate if you do Grin

ken0eddie0kennedy · 12/08/2012 19:26

I think I like ones like that though, you can take bits and pieces - lots to look at. Her jewellery is amazing.

MrsCampbellBlack · 12/08/2012 19:27

Yes Atlantic looks like a model and the photography is stunning.

I love how here and Wendy have several celine bags - I mean they are £££

noddyholder · 12/08/2012 19:28

I was meaning bum in my post not atlantic who is fab

ken0eddie0kennedy · 12/08/2012 19:30

Wendy is fab, I love, love, love her photos.

MrsCampbellBlack · 12/08/2012 19:35

Wendy is gorgeous and her story makes her very endearing/inspiring

LaBelleDamesansTurkey · 12/08/2012 19:37

So many of these, the woman is too thin and flat chested for me to get any style tips from. It's easy to look good if you are size 10 without massive bazookas.
A lot of the clothes are out of my budget too, reiss, l k bennett, etc, and don't have a branch in my home town.

NotMostPeople · 12/08/2012 19:40

Ooh I've remembered another one, penny pincher fashion she looks a bit like Kendie which is confusing and like her name suggests picks lower priced things.

I don't mind the Primark element of SG and Sgs I quite like to mix things up price wise but I just don't find their style to be particularly stylish.

There's a woman on Pinterest who has lovely taste called Cici absolutely white I wonder if she has a blog.

bigpants103 · 12/08/2012 23:09

Most of the ones I like have been mentioned.

I quite like School Gate Style because she wears the sort of clothing I wear, and has a similar budget and scarf habit, so it's all quite workable. Ditto Does my Bum Look 40.

Wendy and Atlantic Pacific are both stunning; if I looked like them I'd be happy in a bin bag.

LOL at the description of Style Guile! She always looks too neat and "tucked in" for me.

LoungerLizard · 13/08/2012 08:26

Not actually a blog but I always enjoy the Avid & Wise threads on here. It's like eavesdropping on someone else's lives and, although they have a very clear (and expensive) uniform, they do turn up some beauties along the way.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 13/08/2012 08:57

I really like style guile too. She's nearly 40, so I guess it'll look frumpy to some of the younger posters here. I'm slightly younger than her and size 8. So I can picture myself in her clothes.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 13/08/2012 08:58

Slightly younger = almost the same Blush

FritziGreenEyes · 13/08/2012 09:31

LL Glad to hear you enjoy the W&A thread. Smile What is the "uniform" you are referring to?

AphraBehn · 13/08/2012 09:54

I like coco mama style. I think she works in fashion so it's not about what she wears but she puts lovely outfits together from a whole range of shops.

School gate is ok but 40 bum annoys me (why wear one top when you can wear 3, her washing pile must be huge).

MarshaBrady · 13/08/2012 10:00

I look at

The Sartorialist
WIT but not as much

Less often
40bum
Wendy

I also mooch around pinterest there are loads of really lovely fashion blogs that show someone in NYC then Paris etc. All wearing great outfits. There are so many out there, I can't remember the names right now.

ToastedTeacakes · 13/08/2012 12:49

I like minimal style blogs, for the most part, or those which also include discussion about style rather than just photographing endless new outfits.

Regarding age, I wouldn't worry about it unless the younger ones are overtly trend driven. Many of the blogs I follow have a similar aesthetic to me, and we are often well far apart in age (I am late 30's and many of them are early 20's) - I guess certain things, or 'classics', etc do not really age.
