New thread for chatting. Oh and swapping S&B tips.

Having a manic day here - INSET day at school and I have 7 kids (inc my 3) over for lunch. While also trying to "work from home" and talk to removal people.

Off on hols soon! Have been enjoying compiling my 'capsule wardrobe' for the trip, but find it hard not to base it on the Scorchio conditions here in the smoke, when Lyme is in fact going to be a bit cooler. One jeans, another trouser, loose trews, shorts, three pairs leggings, two dresses, various t-shirts, long-sleeve t-shirts, two cardies, a hoody, Converse, crocs, birkenstock Madrids and a light jacket should cover all eventualities I think?

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/05/2012 10:13

Have day off today, and have just woken up. Smile Am going out for lunch with DH later, then out to watch DD1's play tonight. Also day off on Monday. Have just noticed that DD2 is off on a school trip to Brittany soon and I haven't even looked at her list of things she needs. Saturday morning in Decathlon, I reckon!

I have delegated my 8 June meeting so will sort out my travel next week.

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/05/2012 10:31

Oh and I have just had three new tops from Boden delivered and a) they fit and b) I like them. Shock

bigTillyMint · 25/05/2012 10:56

Ooh holidays - have a good one, HerbsSmile I'm rubbish at capsule wardrobes!
And MrsS, Brittany sounds so much more exotic than Kent, which is where DD is going, I think! Whereabouts - I love Brittany, particularly southeren Brittany.

So we are on for the 8th?

I am unfit parent and don't know where she is going in Brittany. I think it is south, and near the tip. She goes away again in September to the Savoie. DD1 goes to the Lake District in September (the school apparently charters a plane to get them to Blackpool ShockHmm) which she is very much looking forward to.

Blackduck · 25/05/2012 11:42

Would love to but, need to look at team holiday chart (is half term) and work load....

bigTillyMint · 25/05/2012 12:02

If you are going for comfort, as opposed to style, may I recommend Naot sandals? Utter blissikins for the feet, but stylish, no... I also live in Birkies in the summer- have some bright red shiny Madrids, which I love.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/05/2012 10:08

these are mine

And they cost me 25 quid in TK Maxx. I discovered Naot when I was living in Israel and wore them all through my first pregnancy.

Blackduck · 27/05/2012 11:00

Oh MrsS you are right not stylish;) merrells? They are comfy and can be stylish....
I am into serious weight loss regime. No booze, lots of salad and Jullian on the Tv (this was after finding I couldn't get into two pairs of trousers.)

O

bigTillyMint · 27/05/2012 11:24

I wear my birkies or fitflops when cyclingBlush

BD, I know I should join you, but I'm hoping my extra poundage will drop off by magicGrin

Well, Champneys was grrrreat. The facial was lush and my skin still feels soft and plump, even after a few glasses last night! The other "guinea pigs" were really lovely - it was for an article on skin care in your 30's, 40's and 50's, so the beauty editors friend (30's) brought her mum (50's) and her little sister came along too. We spent alot of time lying on the sunloungers round the outside jacuzzi, but we did manage to peel ourselves off for a swim and a go at "aquamitts" which was like doing water aerobics with webbed rubbery gloves onGrin And a nice healthy lunch of course. Thanks again MISmile

Greetings from Lyme! Lovely and sunny here, with plenty of ice cream. Footwear-wise, I have been wearing my gardening crocs, and I don't care! Perfect for the beach, fording minor streams, etc.

Had to larf this morning. Lyme's weekend clientele had been, well, common as muck. All tattoos, cans of carlsberg and lidl cooler bags. Then the mumsnet brigade turned up on the beach next to us today. Boden dresses, kids called Flossie and Eddie, and wicker baskets full of delightfully artisan throws. One particularly admired article was declared to be from Zanzibar. I wanted to follow them to their 'just a crab sabdwich' for lunch, but dp put his foot down.

bigTillyMint · 28/05/2012 16:03

HerbsSmile How nice to be on the beach on this weather (even if you did miss out on the fabulous ChampneysWink!)

herbaceous · 28/05/2012 16:16

It's rather brisker weather here than in London, but still beach-friendly. Goes some of the way to making up for champneys.

There's a DEAR little gallery with just Darling jewellery I may have to raid to fully get over my disappointment.

bigTillyMint · 28/05/2012 16:18

Oh yes, you always have to get a holiday souvenir (mine is the DC's birthday present to me, chosen by me, of courseSmile)

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/05/2012 16:39

I have been Shopping with DD1 to buy her a dress for the school dance on Friday. I am not entirely sure why she needs one as she spent the whole of the last dance playing chess. Hmm

DD2 (11) has grown 4 inches since last year and has sprouted mini bosoms and a good pair of hips, so none of her summer clothes from last year fit her either. Bought her some shorts from local shop, age 14, the largest they do, and they don't fit. What now? Adult clothes? But she is my baby!
