Oh dear ollie, fingers crossed for you.

OllieinOrange · 16/02/2012 09:05

DH has a plan involving me scrambling down mway embankment, crossing bridge and meeting taxi in football stadium car park!!!!!!!

Russianred · 16/02/2012 09:06

Am glad (well not glad but ykwim) to hear there are others in the same boat. Have made some friends locally and I think a couple of them will deepen and we also have people we know nearby but they're DH's pals primarily - getting there and they're lovely but they have their own lives. My greatest friends are all so far away; my sisters, my lovely friends from school, my lovelier Uni mates (the ones taking me to the spa), the lovelier still friends from my PGCE and a work colleague from my last school. Those are the friendships that I really miss and people i would love to be able to pop out for drinks/cinema trips with.

Hope you get there Ollie - early in the day so am sure they'll fit you in even if you are a bit late!

Oh no Ollie, hope you make it.

Agree that moving often means a sacrifice of friends. I have been very lucky to meet some fantastic people through NCT and DH has made friends with the Dads too - hence the annual Spanish gold trip.

I am in contact with three people I did my nurse training with, whom I am very close to although we never get to meet often enough due to children and geography. They are the type of friends that I can tell anything to though.

I find that people I have met through work, I tend to have really close relationships with them in work, but not so much outside. Maybe thats the nature of the job though, needing to trust each other quickly etc.

Oh, agree that the friendships from this thread are very special too. MWAH to you all!

FritziGreenEyes · 16/02/2012 09:13

ollie I almost spluttered my tea across the laptop keyboard. I am now imagining you turning up breathlessly at the dentist's with twigs in your hair and mud on your clothes from scrambling down the motorway embankment. Grin

VerityBrulee · 16/02/2012 09:48

Ollie hope it goes ok when you get there. FWIW I had one out 2 years ago and it was a doddle, honestly and truely! I only needed 1 dose of regular nurofen afterwards. Think of the watch, visualise it on your wrist, think of the different colour straps you might get and which would go best with your favourite outfits Grin

Fantastic news Blue Thanks

Back later, it is playdate and sleepover central here - look away Bloss! I can't remember when I just had my own dc here this week. It's the constant catering that does me in.

FritziGreenEyes · 16/02/2012 10:06

Love Garance! How I would love to live her life for a day: swanning around NYC with her camera and wearing fabulous clothes, and her hair, her hair

loobylu3 · 16/02/2012 10:11

Huge congratulations to Blue and baby girl blue!

Sorry I missed your birthday, scarf. What lovely gifts. Hope you feel better soon.

All the best for the op, Ollie

Will try to catch up later but really need to get started on my mission to tidy up the DC's toys and have a big cull!

ReineDeSaba · 16/02/2012 10:32

fell asleep putting DD2 to bed last night and the thread has raced on but see that blue you've had your baby girl..well done! and hope you are both well..will go back to catch up and glean more details.

AmberNectarine · 16/02/2012 10:32

The olive Houlis I have if you're a 28 MiM

Russianred · 16/02/2012 10:57

Did you make it Ollie? Hope you're ok!

Meant to add, that, of courses, the friendships on this thread are wonderful. Vital even. Thanks to you all.

WritesHaybalerOnListOfPossibleCareerChangesUnderneathDanishPM

Will pull myself together over arm angst.

mrscb I went for yellow but unsure bag could be Too big.

ollie twig in hair dental chair chic very fashion forward..good luck!

pickled you are such a fun mum..rollerskating!

oh a nanny would be heaven..good that your DH understands the hard work you put in scarfi

very hard to leave good friends behind..found it very tough when I was away from London for several years but now with the children still so small socialising is very limited..thank goodness for meet-ups!

ReineDeSaba · 16/02/2012 12:07

popping back quickly to say great birth weight blue

playdates are very difficult with a baby scarfi but now DD2 older she is resilient enough to join in.

most of DD1s friends are brilliant and self sufficient.

vb I think you would make a brilliant foster parent..you have endless patience and such a nurturing nature.

ReineDeSaba · 16/02/2012 12:10

sanuk great wishlist.
lots of mums of 2 year olds on the thread.do you have a son or daughter?

OllieinOrange · 16/02/2012 12:36

Back home now. Traffic started moving just as DH was on phone to taxi company so no embankment scrambling for me thank goodness.

Procedure was ok, surgeon very nice. Think the worst bit was all the horrible noises (sorry). Still numb so sitting here watching daytime tv, watching DH eat scrambled eggs.

AmberNectarine · 16/02/2012 12:42

On way into the city to meet DH, and do spot of light shopping! Wearing navy Agnes, grey and neon yellow stripey jumper, grey Supergas, whistles pineapple scarf and navy Barbour. Having a navy fest so have gone all out and am carrying metallic navy Bayswater. Hoping the neon and different textures will let me get away with it! DD a vision in a chunky rose pink fishermans jumper (knitted by me) and leopard print leggings 'cos she's pure class like that Wink

Weather gorgeously spring like, wonderful day for new life!

Intend to try on lime green whistles jumper to either banish it from my thoughts or add it to my wardrobe today.

Fleecy · 16/02/2012 13:16

Snap amber - DD1 wearing leopard print leggings today but with brown crew neck cardigan and chocolate suede riding boots. I sometimes dress her in things I'd like to wear but can't!

Huge congratulations to you and your family blue - look forward to hearing more when you're a bit more settled.

Yay for it being over ollie and glad you made it on time.

OllieinOrange · 16/02/2012 15:42

Bored now.

Look at this boucle bike jacket on the DP website. here
Its one of those things I cant decide is nice or a case of right style/wrong material and vice versa. Comes in navy too.

They also have a lace dress which caught me eye, you dont often see them in grey. here

notyummy · 16/02/2012 15:49

Not keen on that jacket I'm afraid Ollie. Like the dress though. Hope ou are feeling ok!y

AmberNectarine · 16/02/2012 16:27

I like that jacket ollie it's not too different to this Marant I tried on the other day!

Hopefully · 16/02/2012 16:27

Ollie I have an irrational hatred of all things boucle, but I like the idea of a biker shape jacket in some non-obvious fabric. Dress v pretty.

Me and Em and Ce Me dresses both here - will try on and report back soon!

MidnightinMoscow · 16/02/2012 16:45

Glad you are ok Ollie, and that you are resting up. Like the dress, although 100% poly.

Oh exciting Hopefully, do report back.

Your outfit today sounds lovely Amber, hope you had a nice lunch with DH.

Boden breton dress arrived early, I suspect its going to be too short though, will decide later.

Thought things were happening a bit earlier, had a very small show (TMI - I am sorry) and some back pain. But nothing now. Am symptom spotting far too much.

FritziGreenEyes · 16/02/2012 17:10

Had lunch date with DH today. Was lovely! On my way back I checked out new stuff in Zara. Nothing for me, but I spotted this quilted leather jacket for scarfi possibly? It is real soft leather and great price I think.

For those who prefer motorcycle style: here but only in black.

For those of us with DDs: This boucle jacket is so pretty!. Wish I was petite and could get the largest children's size Smile

This sequin mini is quite Wendyesque. Don't like the styling on the Zara website though.

Hope you are not in too much pain ollie. Not keen on the DP jacket but the dress looks great!

hopefully Let us know how the dresses look!

OllieinOrange · 16/02/2012 17:24

MiM the spotting could be your MP right? ( cant bring myself to write the right words as its a horrible term but the second word is the thing you use in a sink to keep the water in and the first one rhymes with lucas!!!!!!)

hopefully ohhh, hurry and try dresses on please! So glad one of us has finally got their hands on the Me and Em dress.

Great about you meeting DH for lunch Fritzi and Amber. I watched DH eat lunch, does that count as a lunch date?

The grey Must Have Boden jumper has arrived and I must say its a must have!
Lovely soft wool, great length on me, great buttons on the shoulders and a dropped shoulder seam. Thinner than the Boden jumpers I brought last year tho. I sized up and shouldnt have as its quite boxy in shape so will exchange for a smaller size, now on a 6 week wait.

MidnightinMoscow · 16/02/2012 17:30

Ha ha, yes I know what you mean Ollie, although in my line of work I use the 'M' word a lot.

Glad to hear that the Boden jumper is a keeper.

Fritzi lovely Zara links, like the sequin mini but I am looking for one that is a bit more fitted.
