Sorry for poor thread title but I am hopeless at rhyming at the best of times...
Unbelievable how quickly we filled the last thread!

Had one hour on Friday before the meeting started and used my time very efficiently and bought these. They are not quite as high as the 50/50s but suit me better. Was hugging the shopping bag close to me on the train back home yesterday Grin.

ollie Such a shame that your DH isn't going to go with the job offer over here. Oh, the fun we could have!

hopefully Having you on this thread is great and I enjoy reading your posts a lot. I hope your mother doesn't find any more tidying tasks for you today. You look fab in your wedding pictures.

annie Hope you got all your work done last night and have the chance to get some rest today.

red We have our hob on our kitchen island too. We couldn't decide on backsplash for ages. Haven't had one for ages and it is absolutely fine. I do most food preparation stuff on the island anyway.

Have lovely Sundays everyone!

Oh my goodness, 1 day away from the thread and 5 pages of posts! Enjoyed reading them all over lunch. I meant to come on last night and post about the mini MU but was asleep by 9pm! V little sleep Sunday night and DS returned from a friend's house in a monstrous mood so 4pm to bedtime were challenging.

Lunch yesterday, in contrast, was lovely. Thanks so much zembo, ny and icey, it was great to meet you all. Am Envy of ny's gorgeous mane of hair and long legs, of icey's beautiful skin and eyes and zembo's colouring, boots and way with necklaces!

zembo you looked amazing in the roxy but I don't think I could quite do it justice. I do, however, want to copy your boots and chan luu bracelet and have been a-hunting online just now. Thought I'd struck gold on shopbop with the boots but none in my size, boo. And I'll have to wait for another sale for the bracelets, too exxxy at full price I think. That Marc Jacobs spotty scarf is gorgeous; I think the teal one will look beautiful on you. I didn't get anything in whistles although there are some nice SS bits. Just want the sales rails gone now!
ollie I've looked at your pics and also love your kitchen and hair colour Smile. Have to agree with the reservations about the dress's length though and think you seem too unsure to keep it. Really like the alternative NYE linked to though - worth a try?
mrscb I really like those NL boots. I do rate their footwear (though nothing else, really!)
red so glad the deadline issue was resolved and good luck with the new opportunity.
hopefully those muubaa leather jackets are fantastic. If I were you I'd indulge in one of those rather than the marants; I think you'd get years more wear out of one. Expensive shoes/boots don't seem to last that much longer than cheaper ones in my very limited experience, whereas clothes, particularly leather, can just go on forever. But that's just me and probably why I don't have a very impressive shoe collection. Oh, these are my chestnut boots NYE here.
verity well done re. insurance and just wow re. the watch!
marsha really love your j crew and acne trouser choices. You really are the outnet queen whereas I always seem to come to bargains on there too late or am unlucky with sizes. I really feel for you with your job dilemma and can sense your anguish! From an ignorant outsider's point of view it doesn't sound like there are too many pros to taking the position but the others' more knowledgeable advice sounds very useful.
mim I want those Topshop zip trousers too! I don't care about thickness; I'm always cold, even in summer and it was cooler in July and August last year than spring anyway. Annoyingly, they're out of stock online but in stock in my local branch so may have to brave the teenagers at some point this week.
looby I have tried shellac nails and liked them. They're very thin and natural looking for gel nails, although peeled off after 1-2 weeks on me, probably due to excessive baby wipe use (I'm a bit addicted to them).

Hello to everyone else. I'm having a relaxing afternoon while DS rampages around my parents' wood, so we're both happy. Took him to a new activity this morning, a 'Mr Tumbles' session which seemed to mostly consist of doing the hokey cokey and being given biscuits and a lollipop! DS loved it but I'm not sure we'll go back! Good outfit today though: black super skinnies, long white ruched IO top, long black boots, black and grey leopard faux fur coat, hot pink leather gloves.

That's just reminded me - got some deliveries yesterday. Raspberry blochs are amazing (and loved the packaging). Navy nobody skinnies are great: v dark and feel lovely quality. A good cheaper alternative to J brand 901s even at their full price. However, the reiss order was laughably disastrous. The cream faux fur is so thick I looked like a yeti with a tiny pin head peeping out the top. And the stripy skirt is too much like a stretchy belt.

Sorry for length of post!

Have just spoken to two cobblers who reckon that with the amount I walk (quite a lot, at least an hour most days) I wouldn't get more than 3 months (wearing every day) out of a rubber sole before needing to redo it to keep the leather in good nick. Assuming I wore them, say 50% of the time (realistic - I only have two other pairs of boots and one of those is a country Dubarry type pair), I'd be looking at £30+ a year added to the cost of the shoes. Grr. But they are so comfy and lovely! Maybe I need to accept that they are just not right for the insane amount I am on my feet for though. Sad Sad Sad

AmberNectarine · 24/01/2012 14:37

hopefully was in Matches earlier fingering those Dickers and I must say that was the first thing I thought! Also, the suede, while buttery soft, would definitely not stand up to the kind of battering my boots get! Also saw tan Pistols though, and they have rocketed to the top of my footwear web list along with the Stella M sandals WIT linked to (which also come in nude) and some Ash wedge trainers.

Also saw gorgeous leopard L&L scarf in Whistles which I loved, so will add that to the must have list. It's getting a bit long!

marsha I would agree with the 3 month trial suggestion, nice to test the water. Love the orange T!

apuski sounds like what my DS had the other week which turned out to be viral rash.

Saw a gorgeous Bottega Veneta bag in the Oxfam shop today, but need to keep funds for above wish list!

Hopefully · 24/01/2012 14:43

You're right Amber. And realising that I could get a pair of (clearly much longer lasting) pistol boots for the price of the Marants plus one year's resoling is really the final straw! I am so tough on my shoes, I just don't think I can have a pair that are as high maintenance as the Marants. Sob, they are gorgeous. But I am being Wise.

blue2711 · 24/01/2012 14:43

Anyone like this leopard print dress dress?

blue2711 · 24/01/2012 14:48

Sorry hopefully, what a wrench it will be to reject them! But I do think you're being wise. And now you can spend the money elsewhere!

OllieinOrange · 24/01/2012 14:55

Just ordered the Outnet dress and also got the same style in taupe too to compare. Thanks again Everything. (sorry for calling you Hopefully earlier!!!) I love it how it tells you how much you saved (133 pounds!). Feels good!

MidnightinMoscow · 24/01/2012 15:11

Can I ask a question which I suspect will have an answer similar to "How long is a length of string" Grin

What is the likely hood of my bottom half and stomach getting back to the same shape after DC2?

I've spread a bit over my bum, and obviously my stomach is massive, but my thighs are the same. Would I be crazy to order jeans/trousers in my pre pregnant size or should I just hold out and see what will happen?

Can you tell I am so desperate to buy new clothes...Grin

AmberNectarine · 24/01/2012 15:18

mim I am back in all my old stuff now, and have had to eBay a lot of my pregnancy and immediate post-DC2 purchases as they are too big, so I would get the size you were pre-preg. If nothing else it's an excellent motivator. That said don't be disheartened when you don't immediately slip back into your old surf because it took me c. 4 months (though admittedly I did bugger all about it)

hopefully it's sad, but you know it's the right thing to do. They are amazing boots but when I part with serious wedge for something I want to be wearing it ALL THE TIME, none of this saving it for best malarkey! Get the pistols, I love mine and they are nice and sturdy!

AmberNectarine · 24/01/2012 15:19

That would be old stuff obvs.

MidnightinMoscow · 24/01/2012 15:24

Thanks Amber. I have a few things to see me through the in between stage that I bought after DS, as in a couple of pairs of jeans, tops etc. You are right though, it is a good motivator. I am just unsure as to whether my body will bounce back this time, I am 35 you see. Wink

Hopefully · 24/01/2012 15:27

Right, bye bye Marants. Amber you are so right - I hate saving clothes for best, and want to enjoy my shoes every day!

MIM I think it depends on (a) your delivery and (b) how much you care. I took age post DS1 (like, a year) to get back in shape, but after DS2, although it was CS, I cared more and had got less fat. I was prob back to within 5lbs of pre-preg within 3 months, and obviously only started exercising after about 10 weeks. Did have Wedding as extra motivation though!

Thank you for wise Marant-related words, apologies for bird thread hog. Will now go and catch up properly. And decide whether to keep Ash boots, order pistols or order NL cheapies Grin

blue2711 · 24/01/2012 15:27

mim I've been asking myself the same question and have ended up crossing my fingers and buying things in my pre-pregnancy size. I lost all the weight last time and hope to again, and like you, my thighs are actually no different.

Wondered if any of you might be interested in this blog? I know we're not actually the most frugal bunch on here but she has some nice stylish ideas and features her kitchen today.

Good choice with the dress ollie!

Hopefully · 24/01/2012 15:36

bird? Brief. Stupid phone.

OllieinOrange · 24/01/2012 15:44

MiM i went back to the same size as before both times in fact my waist was smaller, tummy was just more wobbly than before - still is!
Hopefully - such a shame about the boots but when it comes to everday footwear, your head should rule your heart, or something like that ( sounding like my mum now!)
Blue - so pleased you enjoyed your first meet up.

Internet connection at home is completely buggered. Says the dsl connection is lost, . So frustrating using iphone.

The Ce Me London website has lots of jersey dresses in jewel colours if you are after such a thing?

ollie The CeMe dresses look fab!

marsha Could you negotiate a redecoration of the office with some Farrow & Ball into your contract? Wink

zembo Gorgeous bracelet. Have something like it on my wishlist in different colours.

annie That skirt is made for you!

hopefully Was wondering what bird thread you had posted on. Grin

BTW new boots were very comfortable and look great.

Verity, lovely watch, glad everything is sorted.

NY, Blue, Zembo, Icey, you all sound gorgeous.

Marsha, it does sound like you are happier being freelance. Great Outnet buys.

Hopefully, I saw very similar boots in Comptoir today, I can't remember the price but I am sure they must be cheaper. Cocosa were selling Muubaa last week.

Mim, I was back in my usual size very quickly (I gave up sugar a month before DD2 was born as this was my only vice when pregnant) but only losing the remaining 6lb now as it finally dawned on me that drastic measures like cutting down on carbs and Wine were required. Unfortunately.

I'm going to list some bags as soon as the DDs go to bed. I was looking at the Alexa again today and I have to have it!

carciofi · 24/01/2012 16:59

Ollie, that Ce Me dress is lovely.

Blue, have you chosen a name yet? I like Lara from your list. DD1 has a friend called Elodie, I love that name.

MidnightinMoscow · 24/01/2012 17:07

This all sounds very encouraging everyone, thank you.

carciofi, your no sugar idea had me thinking. I am going to make a massive effort in these last few weeks to have a uber healthy diet, not only to aid with weight control, but try and get me in tip top condition for the birth. Having a cold makes you feel sluggish and unhealthy.

Hopefully, as painful as it is, you did the right thing. You need to be able to wear something without worrying about it getting wrecked etc.

That dress is lovely Ollie.

Glad the Boots were ok in the end Fritzi.

carciofi · 24/01/2012 17:30

It's horrible having a cold when you are pregnant. Get well soon, Mim. Did you see the photo of DD1 dressed as a nurse in my profile? I was calling her Nurse W&A!

MidnightinMoscow · 24/01/2012 17:48

Just seen it carciofi, she looks so cute!

Her picture prompted me to post a picture of me and some friends in our student uniforms. I am bottom row - second from the right...so young looking!

OllieinOrange · 24/01/2012 18:30

Oh bloody hell! Boden order arrived with only the white cropped jeans for me. Just tried on, bit too long so bent over to roll them up and the button popped off and flew across the room! I'm putting it down to shoddy workmanship and not tummy size! Honestly, Im filled in indignation! Wink
Actually they are a really nice fit on - quite a bit of stretch, tight but not skinny tight and a nice rise so v flattering on the tummy area (before button flew off). I may investigate other styles as mabe I'm Boden body shape (is that a good or a bad thing tho?)

DS1 loves his navy hoody with the union jack on the back - DH rolled his eyes but as I replied, rule rule britannia!
