Sorry for poor thread title but I am hopeless at rhyming at the best of times...
Unbelievable how quickly we filled the last thread!

Had one hour on Friday before the meeting started and used my time very efficiently and bought these. They are not quite as high as the 50/50s but suit me better. Was hugging the shopping bag close to me on the train back home yesterday Grin.

ollie Such a shame that your DH isn't going to go with the job offer over here. Oh, the fun we could have!

hopefully Having you on this thread is great and I enjoy reading your posts a lot. I hope your mother doesn't find any more tidying tasks for you today. You look fab in your wedding pictures.

annie Hope you got all your work done last night and have the chance to get some rest today.

red We have our hob on our kitchen island too. We couldn't decide on backsplash for ages. Haven't had one for ages and it is absolutely fine. I do most food preparation stuff on the island anyway.

Have lovely Sundays everyone!

Right - kitchen pics and paint samples are now on profile.
Ignore the existing floor - it was like that when we moved in and will be changing it to dark grey slate tiles.

Most Dutch houses have an open plan L shaped ground floor layout with the kitchen forming the L bit like this one. Its obviously not huge and we are still trying to work out if we can fit an island to the right to give is a extra worktop space and storage.
Opinions needed on the blue samples - but Im also keen to try some greys - F&B Pavillion Grey or the Lamp Room Grey? Thoughts?

Yes, Bloss, he had great taste in picking you!

Hopefully, I have some Splendid and Vince tee shirts and I don't think they are worth it. You could order from Revolve though, it's cheaper.

Lovely skirt, Annie.

NY, that was a massive bruise, poor little thing. I fainted on the tube once and ended up with something similar.

Ollie, my dh gives me a lump sum as well when he gets his bonus. So thinking about it, I spend at least double the amount I admitted to on the other thread.

I have just counted my scarves and I have 40. Blush I've been buying them for years and going to keep them all for my DDs, I have some lovely designer ones for them. If they are into that sort of thing, of course.

carciofi · 23/01/2012 10:56

Ollie, I prefer the blues ... Lulworth blue in particular. Lovely photos of your boys.

notyummy · 23/01/2012 10:57

Amber - Nothing to Envy by Barbara Demick

Into thin air. I have no desire to climb a major mountain, but I LOVED this. See the reviews on Amazon - superlative!

Cloud Atlas (although some find this hard going.) I also loved Black Swan Green by the same author, and this is an easier read.

Star of the Sea.

Zembo · 23/01/2012 11:03

Morning ladies!

Just dropped DS off at nursery and getting ready for our mini MU - thanks for the nice wishes.

Very impressed by your scarf collection Carciofi - I've just ordered this in both colours what do you think (as resident expert? Must go, neighbour at the door!

IceCreamCastles · 23/01/2012 11:05

Oi ollie. Why can't I see your photos? I thought we were friends Wink. And why are you telling fibs about your age on your profile? Hmmmm?

Amber- I'm just about to start 'dissolution' by c j sansom. It's set in Tudor times which isn't really my thing usually but my mum raved about it and DH couldn't/wouldn't put it down so thought I'd give it a try.

I want to watch 127 hours too. Dh refuses though. We watched Sherlock Holmes last night and both really enjoyed it.

On train now. Nervous!

AmberNectarine · 23/01/2012 11:08

zembo that is the scarf I was dithering over in HN yesterday. It is lovely!

OllieinOrange · 23/01/2012 11:15

Icey - think I had you under your old name - sorry! And have updated age (dam you and your eagle eyes!!!

MidnightinMoscow · 23/01/2012 11:18

I can't see either Ollie.

OllieinOrange · 23/01/2012 11:24

Right - think I have updated everyone's names and added new ones.

Hopefully · 23/01/2012 11:31

Ollie I like the Lulworth, but if it's any brighter than it appears in the picture, maybe not. If the top right one is a fraction bluer than it appears in the pic, I'd be tempted by that one.

Carciofi I am going to make DH read your post when he comes home to prove that I don't have too many scarves. Think I'm going to save my scarf buying pennies till I'm next in London - I can always find ones I like in person, but often the way they're tied/draped in online pictures puts me off.

BFBM arrived in the post today (incidentally, NYE rechristened it "Be Fat, Be Miserable" on the weekend, which I much prefer Grin). Am going to tackle it tonight I think.
Am impressed by your Jillian study Bloss! 52 changes book also sounds like a good read. I am trying to generally be 'better' this year (about remembering birthdays, looking after myself, enjoying family, everything really, but nothing massive in any one direction), so it would probably be a good read for me if I was kindled up, which I'm not.

OllieinOrange · 23/01/2012 11:44

HL has just arrived - just off taking DS2 back to school after lunch and have to do a supermarket run so back later. (Feel a bit nervous at the thought of trying it on tho it has to be said!)

notyummy · 23/01/2012 12:02

I'm nervous too Ollie and it isn't even my dress Grin.

IceCreamCastles · 23/01/2012 12:04

Oooh-really hope you love it ollie. Your kitchen is beautiful- I love the height and the light. Will examine colours later .

Have just ordered aggies- thanks fleecy!

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/01/2012 12:26

these cheapy boots arrived and are good. Nicer colour and decent quality suede too.

Ollie - are you watching 'Call the Midwife' - I'm loving it and thought it was just your cup of tea.

FritziGreenEyes · 23/01/2012 12:42

ollie The suspense is killing me Grin. Love your kitchen and think Lulworth would look good.

zembo If you decide not to keep the scarf in the blue/grey colourway, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. HN doesn't deliver to Europe, bah...

Have a great mini MU all!

bloss Although I find most self-help books unbearable, I enjoyed reading Unlimited. Many things she says are so simple but really struck a chord.

OP posts:
carciofi · 23/01/2012 13:22

Red, hope they are understanding about the missed deadline.

Just got an email to say that Donna Ida are out of the 29s in the Hudson jeans, annoying.

Zembo, I like the scarf. Hopefully, four scarves is definitely not too many!

Ollie, hope you are happy with the dress.

I love Call the Midwife, despite being extremely squeamish.

Fleecy · 23/01/2012 13:36

Carciofi ? can you adopt me if your DDs aren?t into scarves please? Grin

Lovely kitchen Ollie ? I like the Lulworth Blue the best too but is it a bit too warm if you?re having grey tiles? In which case I?d go for the one on the top right.

NY ? I?m with you on the low number of teatowels. I don?t get how you sort out teatowels? Surely you just have them in a cupboard or drawer and, umm, that?s it? Also, Al Pacino. Are you talking Godfather Part II? If so, yes.

Glad several of you have ordered Aggies ? yay!

Have fun at the meet-up today Smile

Nice boots mrscb

Red ? I hope the missed deadline doesn?t cause a problem.

annie I reckon you could carry those trousers off no problem. I have a friend who wears things that are potentially tricky but she wears them with a sort of nonchalance that means they just work. I think confidence is key.

blossoming · 23/01/2012 13:39

52 small changes book.

Dauphin · 23/01/2012 13:41

Oillie...I can't see either! I do like Lulworth Blue and my favourite is Light Blue...oh, and Skylight pretty nice....

I haven't watched Call the Midwife - as this week watched Birdsong, with Eddie Redmayne and Clemence Poesy....fab stuff too....

Russianred · 23/01/2012 13:43

Hello all - deadline issue resolved and will try and get a bit more done tonight. Another opportunity has presented itself as a 1:1 tutor at a lovely local school with the deadline for application being tomorrow. Am wildly panicking in trying to fill in the application form and feel under-qualified (which I'm not) and generally crap (I could be). Bloss and Pickled, help!

MarshaBrady · 23/01/2012 13:48

Ollie I love the top right one. But all F&B are great I think, if you stick to the palette you want. Ie blues, greys. Will look fab with grey slate floor.

Red sounds good!

Hopefully · 23/01/2012 14:48

Ooh, my Marants have been dispatched. I will commence obsessive tracking.

Red glad you resolved your deadline and hurrah for possible new opportunity.

Fleecy you are clearly a tea towel amateur Wink. There are tea towels, hand towels, towels for using for baking and towels that are too stained for public display but useful for glass drying. I admit that until Saturday I did not know all these categories either. Oh, and we had to sew fabric loops for hanging onto those with no hooks. Rock 'n' roll.

So excited to hear about HL dress Ollie!

pickledsiblings · 23/01/2012 15:05

Red, have you read this about the Government's One to One tuition programme? Somewhere in your application form you should have the opportunity to write that you are currently on a career break to raise a family but then also include details of your most recent work as work carried out during your 'break' IYKWIM. I would also mention your recent relocation to the area and why this particular job appeals and why you would be fab at it (...I have always enjoyed helping individual students to overcome their misconceptions and have offered one to one/small group revision sessions in my previous role as blah blah). Good luck with it Smile.

Off to pick up DSs and kill some time util DD finishes fencing - wish I had her life!

OllieinOrange · 23/01/2012 15:19

So. Helmut Lang has been tried on..... Not sure tbh!

Its like a very expensive Janice! Quite thin jersey and like Amber said, not a pure grey - more of a muddy grey so its colour description of sediment is spot on!

Have put 2 pics on profile (and you know I don't do that lightly!), one of the HL and one of me in Janice for comparison.
Please bear in mind I would normally be wearing spanx, opaques and not standing in such a funny way - who know I was bow legged? Am obviously still carrying xmas weight too. Shoe boots were the first pair of heels I grabbed. I tried hitching the HL up more to make it shorter but then it looked too rouched. Also thats the NAP label on my leg, not a tattoo!

I like but not sure if I like it enough (ie 204 euros worth!)

I'd appreciate total honestly Confused
