Sorry for poor thread title but I am hopeless at rhyming at the best of times...
Unbelievable how quickly we filled the last thread!

Had one hour on Friday before the meeting started and used my time very efficiently and bought these. They are not quite as high as the 50/50s but suit me better. Was hugging the shopping bag close to me on the train back home yesterday Grin.

ollie Such a shame that your DH isn't going to go with the job offer over here. Oh, the fun we could have!

hopefully Having you on this thread is great and I enjoy reading your posts a lot. I hope your mother doesn't find any more tidying tasks for you today. You look fab in your wedding pictures.

annie Hope you got all your work done last night and have the chance to get some rest today.

red We have our hob on our kitchen island too. We couldn't decide on backsplash for ages. Haven't had one for ages and it is absolutely fine. I do most food preparation stuff on the island anyway.

Have lovely Sundays everyone!

I can imagine you'd suit pretty and light very well Marsha, whereas I can't really 'do' pretty, need structure and strong colour really. Shame, as I'd quite like to be a floaty type!

MarshaBrady · 28/01/2012 09:34

It's funny, isn't it how we go for different things. I really like the Marant little jacket but I can see it would look best on someone who is petite. ie not me.

I did think the other day how nice it is that we all have a own style thing going on. Builds a nice visual image. Colours etc

MarshaBrady · 28/01/2012 09:41

And the Marant dress too, I like that as well. Very nice!

notyummy · 28/01/2012 10:02

I am loving all the stories of people's goth youth. I was 'gothy' rather than a full goth - never dyed my hair for example, as I was aware that people always said my hair was v distinctive and didn't want to mess with the colour. Plenty of mosh pits, DM boots and either minis or long skirts though. One of my mates was a 'proper' goth - white make-up, the works, and propely anti-establishment. She went to become a Dr of Archeology.....and then at the age of 35 joined the police. Talk about a turn around Grin.

Handbag is salvageable. It is quite old anyway. Black leather and so no water marks showing thus far. Has taken much drying and I am not sure if my nice blusher brush has survived the ordeal. Expensive work notebook looks just about useable, but lots of notes taken in fountain pen are trashed.....the ones done in ballpoint are fine, so perhaps that's a valuable lesson!

AmberNectarine · 28/01/2012 10:28

Glad to hear the bag is salavageable ny, shame about your notes though! I have a red leather mulberry that has never recovered from an encounter with a vodka and orange!

ApuskiMcClusky · 28/01/2012 11:16

Morning!

NY, glad to hear that your handbag has survived, and hope the blurry notes aren't too important! Reminds me of when I had my handbag stolen, it had a notebook in it with all my notes for the diploma I was doing - I was in a panic until the police found my dumped bag, minus my purse, mobiles and nintendo DS, but still with my wallet and the notebook inside!

Speaking of bags, I've taken quite a liking to this Tory Burch bag, and I like the satchel in brown or red too. I might finally have found something for my birthday!

Hopefully · 28/01/2012 12:15

Apuski I like the bigger one more, but they both look fab. Nice in red and brown too - the brown is a lovely chocolate colour, I'd be hard pushed to choose!

DS1's fashion moment this morning: "Why do your trousers have zips on Mummy?" to which I replied that they looked cool, and he said, "they don't look cool, they look silly. i like your other trousers." that's me told Grin

Picked up the New Look boots this morning. Quality really pretty good, they'd stand up to wear pretty well I think, but I really don't like the shape Sad. And annoyingly I paid with Paypal so I have to post them back, not return them to a store. Wish I'd checked that before ordering! Am debating which boots to torture myself with next, Dicker-alikes from Aldo or pistol-alikes from KG. For wearing with skinnies mostly, but possibly for v casual dress/denim mini type things in the summer. Thoughts?

OllieinOrange · 28/01/2012 12:21

Running in to say, look what Anya Hindmarch is doing for SS.
sparkly apple clutch.

Remember my silver ebay buy from last year....?

notyummy · 28/01/2012 12:26

I think I prefer the KGs Hopefully.

Apuski - I like that satchel!

Scene of domestic bliss here at NY towers (will ignore the row that DH and I had earlier, which has blown over....) DH is in the kitchen with DD, making my birthday cake - coffee and walnut. He is wearing the skull and crossbone apron you made Bloss! I also got a special birthday breakfast made earlier - smoked haddock and poached eggs. He ordered the egg poachers from lakeland especially..I think we are both getting old Grin. He is doing dinner tonight tonight. Smoked salmon terrine for starter and then sea bass. It's not actually my birthday today (that's tomorrow) but DD's swimming makes sunday morning a bit more rushed, hence the breakfast today. In a rather sadistic manner, I am 'celebrating' tomorrow by doing my new 'Ripped in 30' DVD before breakfast. I am reliably informed it will form part of the presents...

ApuskiMcClusky · 28/01/2012 12:26

Hopefully, I think they're both lovely, but prefer the Aldo ones, I like the ankle width of those ones better.

See if this works - trying to link to my shopstyle account, where I save various random ideas or things I want to be able to find again (risking things being sold out before I get round to buying them!).

OllieinOrange · 28/01/2012 12:30

Hopefully I like the Aldo boots.
Apuski agree about liking the bigger one best.

Off to look at new blinds for the house with DSs in tow - the thought of them being let loose in a curtain shop is quite terrifying.

Thought this blue cotton top from Mango was very sweet here

4pm today on bbc 2, one of my favourite films ever- Galaxy Quest. If you haven't seen, you should tape. With Signourney Weaver and Alan Rickman on hilarious form. Genius. May need to start a thread...

Also just finished reading 'Dark Matter- A Ghost Story.' Very readable, and very spooky!

Hopefully · 28/01/2012 15:11

Apuski that shopstyle thing is brilliant, never knew it existed. I have been saving things to polyvore, which is quite fun, as you can make outfits etc. I also have a random wardrobe app on my phone which is quite good for planning outfits, since I can't get into our bedroom once DS2 is in bed to plan the next day's clothes (and by 'plan' I mean 'see what's clean').

Am going to phone Aldo and see if they have the boots at their Southampton store, as could then go there with DS2 on Tue and also check out Office and Schuh for any contenders.

NY will set it to record, sounds like my kind of things Smile

AmberNectarine · 28/01/2012 15:17

Hopefully I like both, but I remember you saying you loved the Dickers and that you weren't sure you loved the Pistols so for that reason I vote Aldo.

ApuskiMcClusky · 28/01/2012 15:38

I've got the shopstyle app on my iPhone, and you can set it ip for text alerts when things go on sale that you've saved - it doesn't work perfectly, as it didn't register the NAP sale for a few days after it had started, but with other stores it has worked well.

I'll check out polyvore too. I have a wardrobe outfit app, but lost the will to live with the hassle of taking photos. I need to do something, though, I keep forgetting what I've got.

OllieinOrange · 28/01/2012 15:45

Back from curtain shop - DSs were wonderfully behaved (I love iphones). I'm Shock that each blind (pale cream linen roman blinds) will cost 500 euros - and we need five of them. We are also getting some lovely white wooden shutters for the bathroom. Using Amber's handbag currency, thats a lot of Mulberry!

notyummy I've seen Galaxy Quest before - very funny, AR is so droll in it.
Apuski that shopstyle thing is a great idea. Off to have a go myself!

Hopefully · 28/01/2012 16:52

Bloody hell Ollie, you could buy a sewing machine, lern to sew and make them all for that price! Assuming, of course, you don't mind waiting a few years till you've got the time to do all that before having any blinds...

Am trying to work up enthusiasm for rock night party. We have decided to get the train so we can both drink, so at least I might have a chance to get into it all. Haven't been out it he evening for so long, I've practically forgotten what to do.

Ooh, I joined the BBH revolution today. It is so easy! Definitely wouldn't want to use it if I had longer hair though, it's a bit alarming. I'm quite a competent blow-dryer, but can use BBH without a mirror and while playing with the DCs, which gives it the edge in my world.

blossoming · 28/01/2012 18:42

OMG I love your stylebook apuski! Such gorgeous stuff, and those FC dresses are lovely especially the red one. I wish I lived closer I would love to catalogue your wardrobe for you!
notyummy, so sorry about the bag mishap. There's a lesson there for all of us girls! Glad things weren't completely ruined. I would say, great excuse to get a gorgeous expensive bag for your birthday, but remembered they're not your thing! Hope you have a lovely time today and tomorrow and hope you kick Jillian's arse with the new dvd.

I love Jillian. She was with me today when we went back to the mountain bike centre but this time with nice Sil and Bil who are ambitious 'tourers'. Keeping up with bil on the steep bits without having to worry about DS who was with Sil was great and all I kept hearing was 'when it starts hurting, those are the ones that count the most'! Had such a great time. Everyone is better behaved when there's company!
hopefully, my favourite lipsticks are MAC ones, but the one I wore today was from my Bobbi Brown pary palette, and I don't think they come full size. Must investigate when I'm next in Chester. I haven't been near a shop since December 17th. And it will be half term when I'm next there! Still, it's January, and I weighed a little less than normal on MIL's vicious bathroom scales even after a carb filled lunch today.
Ordered a Jigsaw cap sleeve top with asymmetric neckline this week as it was on sale, but it was dreadful when I tried it on. I think I might have tried it on before in store, but had forgotten. Then the farhi stripey top that I ordered in December arrived, in a M, but it is like men's XL. Can't stand the discrepancy between brands.

I think I may buy a McQueen scarf. I think it's classic (scarf that is), and dramatic (skulls). Do you agree nye?

blossoming · 28/01/2012 18:49

I'm laughing at the words to accompany this dvf scarf: add to your city mini break wardrobe! Just my sort of marketing, and quite relevant as we're about to book our Easter mini break!

Zembo · 28/01/2012 19:48

Nice scarf Bloss Where at you planning to go at Easter this year?

Carciofi I love the yellow Burberry you linked to. I've looked at it before as having a bit of a thing for yellow at the moment. I really like Burberry Brit. Also, definitely the Alexa over the other bag you linked to.

Amber gorgeous Mulberry scarf

Hopefully glad you like the BBH. It doesn't work that well on my longer hair, any slight added volume falls out quite quickly. Having said that I find it useful as an alternative to taking my hairdryer when I go away.

On hairdryers - Blue I've had a parlux for several years now. I bought it as my hairdresser at Aveda used one. I don't notice the heaviness at all. I've got some R&B lace up boots, similar to the ones you linked to. I've only worn them a few times, not really me I think so currently in the 'to eBay' mountain - think I've missed the boat with it until the A/W stuff starts hitting the shops again.

NY bad luck on the handbag. I dropped my iphone in the loo and felt like a complete plonker afterwards. Enjoy your birthday celebrations!

Ollie made to measure blinds are very expensive, I spent even more than that in my old house (only needed 3) and then had to leave them behind when I sold it as no use anywhere else.

loobylu3 · 28/01/2012 20:26

carciofi Blush at obeyed- not sure how that happened!

Love both of those Burberry macs hopefully/ carciofi but not the price. Prefer the Aldo boots too.

V pretty jacket mrscb - lovely design and so feminine although wouldn't suit me, I think because of the pale colours.

Sorry to hear about your poor bag and contents NY. You sound v calm about it as always!

apuski- great app! I have the FC red dress on your first page- tis lovely! Was wondering about getting another similar one in their sale v reduced but have spent so much in the sales already!

ollie- definitely worth shopping around on the price of the blinds. I paid quite a bit less for ours and they came to measure and fit too. Your apple bag is nicer than the AH :)

I think I will have to get that app too Apuski!

Have so far taken 2 calls today from a good friend who is convinced that u must be traumatised by nearly being 40. I think it may have more to do with her bring 40 in a few months herself Wink.

MidnightinMoscow · 29/01/2012 06:06

Good morning. DS up at 5am today, painful.

Apuski that app is great, and you have a very nice wishlist there indeed.

Happy birthday NY, hope you have a lovely day. Sorry about the bag incident hope that the notes are salvageable.

Hopefully my favourite lipsticks are Chanel Rouge Coco, although I do need some lip balm with them. I have heard that the pigmentation in Tom Ford's lipsticks is supposed to be excellent. They are £££ though.

I bought a new Chanel polish yesterday from the spring collection. It's called April, and I linked to that blog as it gives the best pictures of the colour - its gorgeous.

Having a sausage and lentil casserole for lunch today - nervous as DS has never had lentils and I think sometimes peanut allergy and lentil allergy go hand in hand. DH not keen to eat lunch in the hospital car park though. Grin.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.
