Sorry for poor thread title but I am hopeless at rhyming at the best of times...
Unbelievable how quickly we filled the last thread!

Had one hour on Friday before the meeting started and used my time very efficiently and bought these. They are not quite as high as the 50/50s but suit me better. Was hugging the shopping bag close to me on the train back home yesterday Grin.

ollie Such a shame that your DH isn't going to go with the job offer over here. Oh, the fun we could have!

hopefully Having you on this thread is great and I enjoy reading your posts a lot. I hope your mother doesn't find any more tidying tasks for you today. You look fab in your wedding pictures.

annie Hope you got all your work done last night and have the chance to get some rest today.

red We have our hob on our kitchen island too. We couldn't decide on backsplash for ages. Haven't had one for ages and it is absolutely fine. I do most food preparation stuff on the island anyway.

Have lovely Sundays everyone!

Back from tasting the results of DS2's "cooking with the Dads" afternoon. Was really great - the Dads took the class to a goat farm to see cheese being made (very smelly was DS2s opinion on that) and then they all helped to cook a four course meal. Food was amazing (various types of bruschetta, meatballs in tomato sauce, risotto etc), really impressed. The Dads that helped all looked knackered but said they'd really enjoyed it. DH still there, tidying up.

MrsCB thats a really great jacket. Would be quite versatile with skinnies and dresses. I was going to ask what type of jackets people wore over the summer. I had a cropped navy cotton peacoat last summer which I wore a lot but its looking a bit shabby for this year and needs replacing.
Amber boiler story was v funny. I did something very similar, all the call out guy had to do was press a big red button that said 'start' Blush

Although the thought of wearing one at the moment turns my (overly wobbly) stomach, saw this bikini on the JL website and liked (tho think model isn't wearing the padded bits?) navy and white striped bikini here

NYE I believe she's a Chanel girl, but I will ask her tomorrow when I see her (didn't even think to ask her!)

Since thinking is such hard work, can I consider it a form of aerobic exercise? Grin. It is knackering brainstorming things I might like to do. Also quite demoralising, as I am left feeling I am good at nothing. Even though I know that's not really true.

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2012 19:42

Ollie I am getting a cream blazer or jacket this SS. I have to remind myself otherwise I get distracted by other pretty things. And need to get a jacket. My Paul & Joe trench is too old now. I like the bikini too.

Hopefully I find thinking very tiring. Which is one of the reasons I can't do what I do at home in a hot, crowded noisy office.

I need space, air, walking in the sunshine and light!

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2012 19:47

Got NYE's dub on now. (Matches still following me around top right corner.)

Marsha, I like being followed by Matches. :)

Lovely bikini, Ollie, and your DH and DS sound like a great team! I wear a blazer, a barbour Kate or a trench coat in the summer. I'd like something like this but cheaper.

I'm not really sure about selling the small bayswater but can't have two tan bags.

Hopefully, your sister is very stylish as well.

Hopefully · 27/01/2012 20:08

Carciofi love that coat. I want a cheaper version of this one. I am contemplating making my coats this year, as all the ones I like seem to be £500+, but the time investment in making one is massive.

I love it when people say my sister is stylish - I wish I had more pictures of her grunge period Grin. Oh god, speaking of grunge, I am going to a 'rock night' themed (40th) birthday party. Wtf should I wear?

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2012 20:10

Carciofi your Raoul top is there Smile. Like familiar faces where ever I go. It often stops on a Carven white jacket. Useful for working out what I've looked at most at least.

Hopefully I can only imagine the work involved in creating a coat.

Think it's more common-or-garden rock. Playlist includes Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Metallica, Alice in Chains, that kind of stuff. If only my sister had kept more of her grunge era wardrobe.. Apparently moshing is compulsory, so my original plan of blue patent stilettos with skinnies is out.

AmberNectarine · 27/01/2012 20:37

Oh god, I was a goth in my youth, wore ripped fishnets, DMs or fetish shoes, mini skirts, corsets and dog collars as standard. Bad times.

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2012 20:43

Amber, how funny.

Did you ever go to a goth/punk club near Angel tube? I had a friend who used go.

Hopefully · 27/01/2012 20:51

I wasn't a goth but definitely owned a dog collar - have vague recollections of wearing it as a bracelet along with a stack of others. Like, 2/3 of the way to my elbow. I did have awesome hair though - really sharp angled chin length bob with the bottom inch dyed scarlet all the way round. Spent 7 hours in Sassoons getting it done - head of sixth form =had a fit, but she loved me and didn't make me get rid of it Grin

Amber you seem brave enough to have pulled off goth with panache.

AmberNectarine · 27/01/2012 21:28

marsha I used to frequent a few dodgy places in surrey mainly, though did enjoy the sights and sounds of Soho & Brixton for gigs. I was always right in the mosh pit. Ah, memories.

hopefully you are very kind! I think I still harbour tendencies now, with all the leather and studding in my wardrobe love the sound of your 6th form hair. We had very strict rules at my school (independent girls, v stuffy) so the most dangerous I could go was a deep cherry colour.

I must confess I have kept my red snakeskin buffalo platform trainers (remember them) and a particularly shocking pair of stripper style PVC boots with a metal heel bought from a vintage shop on portobello road...

Russianred · 27/01/2012 21:32

Oooh I got chucked out of my stuffy independent girls school for dying the front section of my hair bright red. I was only 13 and hated being there and when I refused to change my hair they threatened me with expulsion and I said 'alright then' which they weren't expecting at all. The one time in my life when my mother has completely supported my decision - moved to an arty comp and absolutely thrived. I was a bit of a goth too..!

MrsCB/Verity that jacket is delicious.

I wonder about Petit too - she was/is so lovely.

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2012 21:36

I wasn't a goth but used to hang out with people that were 'punks'. Ie modern ones. Amazing outfits. A million things used to go together to put it all together. I used to crimp and back comb my hair and wear braces Grin.

Oh to be a blonde, slight punk-light. Dh and I are laughing remembering.

But before that I would find secret raves (usually adverts in Soho) and dance all night til sunrise.

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2012 21:37

And we didn't look too bad cos we'd get stopped by magazine photographers wanting to take a pic... got to count for something!

AmberNectarine · 27/01/2012 21:39

I need!

Hopefully · 27/01/2012 22:08

Ooh, that is lovely Amber. I couldn't wear it, but would be envious of whoever could.

I think I am going to have to order the anglomania dress. Showed it to DH and he was mighty impressed. And also reminded me of a couple more bits of old office wear that I can eBay to put towards it.

VerityBrulee · 27/01/2012 23:34

Lovely dress hopefully

Argh, I'm as fat as butter as Mrscb would say. Just had birthday dinner for my mum, steak, sauteed onions, mashed potato and chocolate roulade. I'll need a lot of shredding to work that off! I'm not sure about the arms, i did have to take off a few layers to try it on, but the colour is lovely and very you mrs! I was determined not to buy summer stuff which I won't be able to wear for months, but when it all starts arriving in the shops it's so tempting......I've spotted some lovely things this week, hopefully I'll wrest the dc off the mac tomorrow to do some links.

Realised today that my eldest is nearly taller than me. Time to swap the ballet flats for platforms!

So cold here, hope you all have cosy weekendsSmile

VerityBrulee · 27/01/2012 23:41

Not sure about the arms of the jacket that is, my arms need some work most definately Blush

ny your poor bag, would it be covered by your insurance? You work so hard, I feel like such a slacker when I read your posts!

amber I had a v similar experience with central heating years ago, too embarrasing to recount. What a relief your handbag budget doesn't have to be wasted on a boiler!

Ok, off to bed.

Hopefully · 28/01/2012 08:48

My top tip for the day: don't Shred on an empty stomach when you haven't eaten since 7pm the day before. The lack of energy would have been comical if it had been happening to someone else.

MarshaBrady · 28/01/2012 08:48

I love Marant stuff.

But am going to wait for what is coming in. I am going for a pretty, light dress.

Anniemac have a great party tonight!
