Sorry for poor thread title but I am hopeless at rhyming at the best of times...
Unbelievable how quickly we filled the last thread!

Had one hour on Friday before the meeting started and used my time very efficiently and bought these. They are not quite as high as the 50/50s but suit me better. Was hugging the shopping bag close to me on the train back home yesterday Grin.

ollie Such a shame that your DH isn't going to go with the job offer over here. Oh, the fun we could have!

hopefully Having you on this thread is great and I enjoy reading your posts a lot. I hope your mother doesn't find any more tidying tasks for you today. You look fab in your wedding pictures.

annie Hope you got all your work done last night and have the chance to get some rest today.

red We have our hob on our kitchen island too. We couldn't decide on backsplash for ages. Haven't had one for ages and it is absolutely fine. I do most food preparation stuff on the island anyway.

Have lovely Sundays everyone!

I am mortified, plumber came and the thermostat was turned off! DS must have done it! Over £100 to find that out, think I'll tell DH it was a fuse or something...

Hopefully · 27/01/2012 12:10

Also Grin at boiler prices ranging from PS1 to 2.55. I love the PS1, just casual enough for me but still a bit interesting. Maybe next lifetime Smile.

MIM I definitely come under the heading of having boobs. This is not helping to dissuade me either.

Portia black leather theory dress sounds rather fab Envy

Am trying to think of outings to entertain the DSs this afternoon, as DS1 is bouncing off the walls after morning at home. He has requested a trip to the cathedral, which I reckon I can manage, but doubt it will burn off the required energy!

Ordered new underwear this morning. I really resent spending money on it (especially nude underwear to be invisible under clothes) but decent underwear makes so much difference to my life that I will suck it up. Plus it's so exciting to be down to my normal size after a second 20 months of PG/BFing. Hope the refund for Marants and Jalouse comes through soon though, am feeling a bit poor!

Hopefully · 27/01/2012 12:11

Cross posts. Grin Amber. So you can totally afford a new bag now instead.

blue2711 · 27/01/2012 12:12

Lovely sunny day here today; sunshine really does lift the spirits doesn't it. nye so glad you are feeling brighter today.

hopefully inspired by you I have sorted my tea towels and started an expenditure spreadsheet! Feeling pleased with myself (and crossing my fingers that I too have lean spending periods). Your blog is lovely and I love your boys' names. You are very like my mum, who makes everything and is brilliant at it. She has made beautiful heavy curtains for the nursery (dark rose pink and cream striped) and crocheted a huge white blanket for the baby. Sadly I have not inherited her talents and only excel at buying, not making. I wanted to be a journalist before going into teaching and actually interned on the mag Cosmopolitan when I was 18! Not much actual writing seemed to go on there admittedly... Would echo the approval of whistles t shirts, I have quite a few and they are just the right fit.

red i have tutored quite a lot and in my experience you need to be able to illustrate exactly how you set about improving a student's performance and refer to specific egs where you have done this in the past. Parents paying for tutoring tend to want dramatic results!

dauphin and icey love the name choices! Estella is probably my no 1 at the moment. Love Frank for a boy and think the nickname Frankie is lovely when they're little.

mrscb thanks so much for that jeans link; they're currently sitting in my bag... I'm with you on mid calf, a definite no from me being 5ft 1. I'm with you on the Botox too, I'm sure I'll try it but would want it to be discreet. Good luck with your tests.

amber really like your forever 21 purchases, I have quite a few lace tops. How do you style them? I like dressing them down with vests and skinnies but never quite sure how else to wear them. I also have the nude TS ballerinas but find them only really wearable as indoor slippers. That acne jumper is gorgeous! Much boiler sympathy. We rent our current house and the boiler is crap:noisy and not powerful enough so that the nursery has to have an oil filled radiator to heat it. Can't wait to escape cheapskate landlord and finally buy a home of our own, this year, hopefully.

Nice to hear from you pickled and glad your teaching wardrobe is going down well with your students. They really do notice I've always found - and I taught teenage boys!

zembo good luck with your decluttering and ebaying mission, very satisfying work I always find. I'm wondering about these boots

Hello to everyone else too!

blue2711 · 27/01/2012 12:17

Cross posts amber. That is just the sort of thing that would happen to me - and I would so be tempted to fib to DH!

I can never bear to spend on underwear hopefully and would be mortified to admit where I buy most of mine from, particularly on this thread!

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2012 13:07

I have some Rigby and Peller but it's a pita to handwash. Mostly it's ye olde basics.

Caricofi I know I think they are are a proceed with caution thing. At first I wasn't keen on NaP, then I saw that shot with the shirt and thought hmmm....

loobylu3 · 27/01/2012 13:15

Won't comment on Kate Moss any more as she obviously has lots of fans on here!

Pleased to hear that you are feeling better today NYE. You really are doing an amazing job looking after your DS and working without much support from your ex of your family. Single mums where the ex partner has regular access and plenty of local family support are in a very different position to those where the ex has no/ limited interest and no/ barely any family support. I'm absolutely sure that you will be in a v different place in a couple of years time, probably with a lovely new partner too :)

zembo- my DH will be a little older than your even when he becomes a C (mostly due to having done 3 yrs compulsory army service in S/pore before starting Uni). We will have been parents for 12/13 yrs by this point! We would certainly consider moving to S/pore as medics seem much better treated there- they even get generous annual bonuses from the government!
I have a couple of good friends who are Consultant Anaesthetists. They do qualify quicker as no research and 5 yrs as a Registrar. One of them is in Glasgow, actually.

amber- I'm giggling over your boiler escapade! At least you don't need a replacement, eh.

dauphin/ Icey- nice names. I have Hermione and Hugo as possibles on my list. I like Frank but prefer it as a nn for Francis. Estella is v pretty- reminds me of Gt Expectations.

marsha- not a fan of the floral trousers, at least, I agree with carciofi. I couldn't wear them but you might be able to! Carciofi- am v jealous of your scarf collection! I have a couple of lovely Italian Etro scarves (gifts) but the rest are cheap and cheerful. Perhaps I should invest!

I'm another who needs to get obeying- haven't done any for several months and have spent a lot in the sales for myself and the DC.

Enjoy the rest of your days everyone.

carciofi · 27/01/2012 14:24

Looby, I'm laughing at obeying! Nice scarves are the perfect purchase when pregnant, I think. I start buying Gucci, Missoni etc when I was a student in Italy and it snowballed from there.

I am checking my ebay sales obsessively, I have 95 watchers on my bag now but only two bids.

Amber, I wouldn't tell my dh either!

I am a bit fed up of renting too but it has its advantages when boilers break. :) We don't deal with the owners at all but with a management company who are very on the ball. We also could move around the corner from the school (tiny catchment areas here) where we want DD1 to go.

Missed the DHL man with my silk top, grrr.

Hopefully · 27/01/2012 14:56

carciofi we rent, but are in a position to buy this year. Only problem is that we can afford to rent somewhere far nicer than we can buy. Dilemma.

Blue I am hoping that of we do buy at least I can put my sewing skills to use making curtains etc! I (obviously) live the boys' names, but we had a hell of a time coming up with names for DS2. Had girls names coming out of our ears of course. If we ever have another and it's a boy, we're screwed Grin

Need to do a bit of ebaying (which my phone wants to correct to 'beating', incidentally), have two more brora cardigans and a few other bits to rid myself of.

carciofi · 27/01/2012 14:58

We can't afford to buy where we rent either but luckily prices are only going down in Ireland where we do want to buy!

I found my old favourite jeans on sale so repurchased. They really are a great fit if anyone is looking for skinny jeans.

carciofi · 27/01/2012 15:08

Luckily for us, that is, but not so great for my compatriots.

notyummy · 27/01/2012 16:28

Ladies, I bring news of a handbag disaster. To avoid putting handbag on floor in loo I put beside sink -in constrained place. Was automatic tap and part of my large bag was under the tap and triggered it. I didn't notice as was looking for soap!! Handbag full of water inc new leather bound work notebook, library book, make up etc. At least mobile phones were in outside pocket. What a pain!!

carciofi · 27/01/2012 17:11

Oh no, NY, is it ruined?

I can't find the packaging for the Pure Collection shirt. Guess I'm keeping it!

Hopefully · 27/01/2012 17:22

Disaster NY! Is the bag salvageable? Good excuse to buy new make up etc.

Speaking of make up, does anyone have any lipstick brand recommendations? Want proper colour, real lipstick, but not too drying. Am looking to match my HoC lipsticks, as I hate the way they all fade to the same pink once the initial perfect colour has worn off.

I am experimenting with a maxi skirt today. I have decided that I like it, but need to be careful not to look like a mad lady.

Am absolutely out of energy today. Think I might have a night of no Shred/BFBM. Enjoying a biscuit before dinner - I am feeling less motivated to diet until my new scales arrive. I am one of those dieters who absolutely need daily weighing to keep on track. None of that weekly weigh in malarkey round here!

Lack of energy compounded by my brain being taken up with my mini career crisis - thinking is surprisingly tiring, it turns out!

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/01/2012 18:29

Oh how I love this

Just been thinking about poster whose name has vanished from my memory -lovely auburn hair, was on a spending ban to see if she could stop shopping and if she did it her friend was going to buy hear a mulberry scarf. She also has a Burberry trench, Choo biker boots and a personalise AH bag Smile Do like how I remember the important stuff.

AmberNectarine · 27/01/2012 18:31

That's petitdonkey, mrsCB.

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/01/2012 18:33

Of course! Thanks. It scares me how rubbish I am with names

AmberNectarine · 27/01/2012 18:36

That jacket is A-MAZ-ING! I love.

Also must link this fabulous scarf. Gorgeous!

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/01/2012 18:44

Oh amber I am so glad you like it too!

And such a pretty scarf

VerityBrulee · 27/01/2012 19:04

mrscb I have tried that jacket on, it is lovely and is on my potential bithday present list Smile

Cooking dinner but will be back!

carciofi · 27/01/2012 19:06

I was wondering about PetitDonkey recently too.

I like the jacket and scarf.

I know a lot of people don't like Mulberry but is the Alexa nicer than this Somerset shoulder bag?

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/01/2012 19:13

Oh Verity - are the arms quite slim cut?

Hopefully · 27/01/2012 19:20

Carciofi I prefer the Alexa, but the Somerset is really nice too.
