Sorry for poor thread title but I am hopeless at rhyming at the best of times...
Unbelievable how quickly we filled the last thread!

Had one hour on Friday before the meeting started and used my time very efficiently and bought these. They are not quite as high as the 50/50s but suit me better. Was hugging the shopping bag close to me on the train back home yesterday Grin.

ollie Such a shame that your DH isn't going to go with the job offer over here. Oh, the fun we could have!

hopefully Having you on this thread is great and I enjoy reading your posts a lot. I hope your mother doesn't find any more tidying tasks for you today. You look fab in your wedding pictures.

annie Hope you got all your work done last night and have the chance to get some rest today.

red We have our hob on our kitchen island too. We couldn't decide on backsplash for ages. Haven't had one for ages and it is absolutely fine. I do most food preparation stuff on the island anyway.

Have lovely Sundays everyone!

Hope the tests go ok Mrscb.

Just finished work. Was 1045 last night. Trying to clear inbox before time off next week. I am looking forward to it but the prep is exhausting!

OllieinOrange · 26/01/2012 21:51

Ahhh. Im a cranberry girl too.

Showed DH those Mango shoes i linked to yesterday. He liked, a lot. Men.

Hopefully · 26/01/2012 21:53

Thanks for the blog love! I keep it up partly so I have an occasional writing outlet - was a journalist pre-DC.

And thanks for the R&B info, lots to think about! Went and peered in the window with NYE today but nothing that grabbed my eye. Will have to have a proper look at some stage. Actually, Stuart Weitzman shoe boots grabbed my eye, but they were black and v far away from being the kind of shoe I need right now.

All these lovely dress links have reminded me, I am still regularly lusting after this VWA one. I might have to order it purely so I can see for myself that I do not turn into a 5'10" model when wearing it Hmm Grin. And that it has too much black in. And that the stripes aren't big enough. Someone please criticise it for me.

Zembo and Emo it is v alarming initially totting up purchases, but once you get used to it it's rather liberating, as sometimes I have a lean period (like last year) and feel able to splash out by spending my entire 2011 budget in one month.

MrsCB hope tests are all ok, not much fun even if they are routine etc.

I have been stressing myself out today trying to work out a Plan. I am feeling a bit drifty career-wise, but not really sure what to aim for.

OllieinOrange · 26/01/2012 21:56

Going back to the KM chat, Carla Bruni is another one who has ruined her looks. Her cheeks look so strange.

AmberNectarine · 26/01/2012 21:59

emo I have had my eye on that jumper for months if only they would reduce it below £100... Then I could justify it because it is fabulous but ridiculous!

nye hope your day improved, lovely shirt!

carciofi I need a new scarf storage system as I bought 2 today!

reine that dress is gorgeous, MU dress?

Hopefully · 26/01/2012 22:05

Oh, Ollie, I think block heels can be fine. I have some. Definitely need to be a tiny bit more careful with outfits to avoid frump factor though.

AmberNectarine · 26/01/2012 22:07

Bought a couple of Forever 21 cheapies today - this lace top and this mint scarf. Bought latter to try out mint on me as I really want this Acne jumper.

Also bought this maje scarf, apols for wanky link, was all I could find!

AmberNectarine · 26/01/2012 22:11

Hopefully I saw that dress IRL the other day. Afraid it is really really nice.

AmberNectarine · 26/01/2012 22:14

Oh also Hopefully I saw these today and thought of you...

Hopefully · 26/01/2012 22:24

Amberyou are not helping me dislike it!

OMG Those also boots are lovely. And the heels are low enough. Have been trying to think of something to do tomorrow, maybe the DSs and I need to take a shopping trip...

pickledsiblings · 26/01/2012 22:24

Red, best of luck for your interview tomorrow. I say go as smart as you dare with your outfit. My teaching wardrobe has been a success, have had some lovely compliments from teenage girls Grin.

NYE, funny old day for you - hope tomorrow is better Smile.

Big wave to Ollie and the rest of you, I am enjoying reading but too tired to post . Marsha, where do you see yourself in five years time? Take the option that will help you get there. Let this decision be about you - loved Reine's 'description' of you, so funny Reine.

Ladies with the babies on board, hope you are having lovely baths and footrubs Smile.

AmberNectarine · 26/01/2012 22:41

I think you should try it on Hopefully it's the only way. Otherwise you'll always think 'what if?' I always find the things I fantasise about end up looking crap anyway, so where's the harm?

Russianred · 26/01/2012 22:47

Now I'm a G&T girl. Have never got on well with vodka.

Pickled interview is next Friday. I actually must prepare for it in some way. Am going to go back over the NLS and GCSE frameworks as haven't looked at either in 3 years. The job description was so vague (non-existent really) that I'm not sure what more I can do. Blue were you doing some tutoring? Any pointers?

Reine I really wish they'd had that dress in a S. Keep torturing myself with it.

MrsCB hope that everything goes well with your tests.

NY you must be knackered. What are your week off plans?

Have spent the evening beginning to unpack kitchen - there are bits we've had away since we moved in July and it has been lovely re-discovering it all. Still a fair way to go yet though..!

MidnightinMoscow · 27/01/2012 07:00

Quick post from me just to say Good luck to Red for the interview today.

Back later.

carciofi · 27/01/2012 07:35

I am always relieved when something I have been thinking of buying doesn't suit me, it is money saved for something else on my list.

Amber, nice scarf.

NY, you are putting in hours like my dh. Enjoy yourself next week.

Portia, I didn't have to wear a uniform either, thankfully. I mostly wore In Wear from Clothes Peg in Sutton (I hope that is still going) and Benetton to school too, remember the Benetton scarves? The King Sitric is a classic, I had my 16th birthday there (a long time ago!).

Portia4 · 27/01/2012 08:00

Carciofi Clothes Peg really was the go to place then, you escaped the uniform too, I don't know when they introduced it, Dd1 went to SPS to the junior and now that I think about it, she didn't have a uniform either.

Very cold here today, I am off to the hairdressers for a blow dry and being collected to go to Dublin for the lunch. I will wear the black leather Theory dress that I got for the meet up last year Smile

blue2711 · 27/01/2012 08:04

Very Envy that you have a theory leather dress portia. Enjoy lunch.

Back later for a proper catch up.

MidnightinMoscow · 27/01/2012 08:25

Good Morning.

Hopefully I tried that VW dress last year in the pink/blue stripe. Its a lovely dress, but you need boobs for it, which I don't really have. Ended up looking very flat on me. It really is a lovely dress though.

MrsCB Sorry to hear about all the tests, and hope your Sister is ok. I have been drinking lime juice or apple juice with soda water lately. Also, M+S have a really good range of fresh juices which I have been mixing with soda too. I can't drink neat fruit juice without feeling like my teeth itch.

NY, you have been putting the hours in. Hope you are not too tired.

Am swapping the The White Company top for a medium having measured it against my existing t-shirts. Was going to order the Topshop ballet flats in nude and pink, but if I remember they are almost slipper like in terms of the sole.

AmberNectarine · 27/01/2012 08:36

mim I have the nude TS ballerinas and I love them but can't do a day in them as my heels ache!

MidnightinMoscow · 27/01/2012 08:50

Yes, that's what I remember about them. I need a nude pair, that are more 'shoey' than the TS ones, but not as 'shoey' as say, R&B flats.

I know that you lot are the only people I know that will totally understand the sentiment behind that statement. Grin

I love French Sole for ballerinas but they are £££!

Speaking of £££ I got home yesterday to discover the boiler had stopped working, so have plumber coming. First hour will be cost of a nice pair of FS, if it ends up in new boiler territory we're talking anything from PS1 to 2.55

notyummy · 27/01/2012 09:26

Hi all

Glad you are feeling better NYE.

Good luck with the interview Red. Sounds like you have done as much prep as possible without much material to go on. I went for an interview this time last year for a job I wasn't that bothered about (long story...) and realised in the waiting area that I knew precisely NOTHING about the organisation. I mean NOTHING - I had done no research at all. Whilst I didn't really want the job, I started worrying about embarrassing myself so grabbed a leaflet and read it before going in. This was the one I mentioned before where I had to prep a Board presentation on strategy against the clock and then present it, followed by an interview. I got offered the post (and I know at least 3 others were interviewed!!) All I could think was...how bad must they have been if I got it after reading one pamplet?? Grin

Good to hear from you Picked.

I am pretty knackered if truth be told - and this is usually my non working day, but I am off to London for a strategy workshop. At least I get some reading time on the train. Only one day at work next week though!

Hope you all have good days. I am off for a quick run before the London trip.

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2012 10:49

Oh Amber your post made me laugh. That's how I think.

I also relate the value of my work to Hermès bags multiples (or yearly school fees, on a serious day). If I ever have time to do my own work, actually I think I will as I have made a decision re work! Will tell them Monday.

New boilers are the pits though, ours is old and serviced yearly by British Gas (we do that homestart thing) argh I dread the day we have to get a new one.

NYE glad you are feeling better. Lots of support on here for you (hugs)

Pickled I know where I want to be in 5 years. Independent and doing my own work, good advice thanks.

MrsCB hope your tests are ok.

NY you sound very good and your ability to wing it in that interview makes me smile Grin (and actually I can understand that, the smallest bit of info is all one needs sometimes).

Hopefully I love your blog, something about the kindness and love in family life brought a little tear to my eye .

Emo I haven't any R&B flats yet. Website is terrible! I can only see winter stuff too.

Lots of lovely purchases everyone, too many to say.

For SS I am considering CofH rose print skinnies. Madness? Probably. A one season wonder, but sometimes it's fun to have a one season wonder.

carciofi · 27/01/2012 11:37

Bummer about the boiler, Amber!

Portia, the leather Theory dress sounds fantastic. Have fun.

Mim, I bought that t-shirt in pink in medium (also a 12).

I was in doing a cookery class in DD1's nursery school this morning (each week, the parents take turns to do the class). They are so sweet in their little uniforms. DD1 was proudly showing off her little sister.

Not sure about the rose print trousers, well, not for me, but Marsha you could work them.
