Sorry for poor thread title but I am hopeless at rhyming at the best of times...
Unbelievable how quickly we filled the last thread!

Had one hour on Friday before the meeting started and used my time very efficiently and bought these. They are not quite as high as the 50/50s but suit me better. Was hugging the shopping bag close to me on the train back home yesterday Grin.

ollie Such a shame that your DH isn't going to go with the job offer over here. Oh, the fun we could have!

hopefully Having you on this thread is great and I enjoy reading your posts a lot. I hope your mother doesn't find any more tidying tasks for you today. You look fab in your wedding pictures.

annie Hope you got all your work done last night and have the chance to get some rest today.

red We have our hob on our kitchen island too. We couldn't decide on backsplash for ages. Haven't had one for ages and it is absolutely fine. I do most food preparation stuff on the island anyway.

Have lovely Sundays everyone!

OP posts:

Masha those yellow skinnies are great, and the t-shirt is a lovely colour.

Can't watch call the midwife - I can't cope with the stress of worrying about MC/stillbirth, even in fiction. Have only had one (v v early) MC ever, so not sure why I find it so stressful Confused

Did yoga dvd last night (90 bloody minutes! Need a shorter yoga dvd), and am pretty stuff today even though I hardly pushed myself at all. Will try to do once a week I think.

Have ordered NL suede boots, hopefully they'll do...

OllieinOrange · 25/01/2012 12:45

MrsCB Am sending the HL one back (but may well look out for it in the sales at a more reasonable price, its length was the deciding factor) and have ordered the grey and the taupe Ce Me dress as found by Everything to try.
Im usually a muted wall colour person too but just fancied a change. We'll see. Our kitchen is quite small with hardly any worktop space and a tiny oven - the previous owners were not cooks but spent a lot of money on good units and hob. I'd hoped we could extend out but will make do with a small island feature for now which gives us the room for a proper oven under the hob.
Agree with how fascinating the era of CTM is. Mum said the book features a lady (who goes into the house after the birth to help) whose children all ended up in the workhouse - the subject of another of the authors books. Mum has just started reading it and said its a good read but terribly sad.

I was explaining to DS1 that we didnt have computers growing up and he didn't believe me!

blue2711 · 25/01/2012 12:46

Aggies have arrived and are perfect! Really, really pleased. Great height for me and lovely colour. I would have paid twice the price and still been happy so big thank you to fleecy and hopefully (and Wendy!).

hopefully I am counting on OTKs working next autumn and also surely you don't think skinnies are going anywhere....?! Say it isn't so, please! Speaking of skinnies I quite like these - or is it just the price tempting me?

What boden code / discount are people using atm? I want to do my big spring order for DS and need to save as much as possible!

Also, I know this subject has been covered before but my hair dryer crisis has become acute and I still don't know what to buy. The noises mine is currently making suggest its imminent death and I'd like to get a new one that suits long-ish, fine, highlighted hair that dries pretty quickly. Think parlux ones sound a bit heavy and more cut out for thick hair but what else is good? Any ideas gratefully received!

Thanks ladies, hope you're all having good days.

blue2711 · 25/01/2012 12:47

I meant 'speaking of OTKs' - it's a link to some from pied a terre. Sorry!

OllieinOrange · 25/01/2012 12:55

Blue I am thinking of getting this Parlux one which is the lightest in the range - here I need to compare its weight with my existing one tho as I really can't handle heavy hairdryers. I too have fine hair which dries v quickly but my hairdresser sadi Parlux would be fine for it. My existing one has recently lost a lot of power and overheats quickly so is on its last legs too.
Everything recommended one recently but I forgot to save it?

Boden code is IPAD for 20% off.

blue2711 · 25/01/2012 13:08

Thanks so much ollie. Your hair did look quite similar to mine (only better colour and cut!). Do you know if it's worth hunting to find that model cheaper anywhere?

Thanks so much for boden code too. DS's spring/summer wardrobe staples ordered so now I feel productive!

MidnightinMoscow · 25/01/2012 13:15

Hello.

Still full of cold, hurry up and go!

Shame about the Reiss dress Red, although agree that there will be loads of spring/summer dresses arriving soon in the shops.

Blue, I am now used to the Parlux and don't notice the weight of it at all. My hair is a mess though, trying my hardest to wait until early March to get it done...and I am going back to the highlights. I am not that keen on those boots I'm afraid, they look a little clumpy.

What a lovely compliment Emo. Do you feel better for it? I smiled at the idea of Ollie's head in the fridge trying to find wine though.

Hopefully I think skinnies are here to stay, but I find my OTK's most flattering with leggings/opaques.

I haven't watched any CTM yet, although should do as its based around the part of London that I did my training. Only just watching One Born Every Minute through my fingers.

this came today in white, is a lovely t-shirt for spring/summer.

I am still tempted by this . Never ordered Boden before, what do you think the sizing would come up like?

blue2711 · 25/01/2012 13:22

Thanks mim, the boots have been deleted! I am going to stop thinking about OTKs now and save for 5050s in the autumn. No idea about adult boden sizing I'm afraid (but children's seems true to size or smallish if that's any use!) Nice Breton tunic - I've forbidden myself to buy any more stripes as have a bursting drawer full already (and clueless DH calls them my burglar outfits). Hope your nasty cold goes soon.

MarshaBrady · 25/01/2012 13:30

Blue I saw the OTK 5050s on sale here. But maybe they all are these days, I can't remember which season they are from.

I do need some ballet flats still, and thinking I might have to look at Lanvin. Although they are quite a lot. Just looked at NaP and most are sold out. Anyone would think there was a national ballet flat shortage or something.

MiM hope you feel better soon.

carciofi · 25/01/2012 13:33

Mim, you look so sweet and innocent! I bought that tunic last year but returned it was too short on me and I'm not a leggings fan. It's nice though.

Well done, Emo. 2 x 9 months was enough for me.

Thanks, DD2 is cute so I forgive her for waking up at 5.30! Grrr.

Blue, I'm getting 5050s next autumn too. A mum at school has them and they look great on her. Everything does though, she's Swedish, tall, thin and blonde. Envy I saw someone mentioned my DD2's name on your names post. I haven't heard of any others and it is not in the top 300.

Ollie, DD1 looked at me in disbelief when I told her that we didn't have DVDs! Are these the cropped jeans? They look nice.

Marsha, do the J Crew jeans run large? They are a good price.

carciofi · 25/01/2012 13:41

Sorry, Ollie, are these the cropped jeans?

MidnightinMoscow · 25/01/2012 13:47

That's what I think will be the problem for me too carciofi. How tall are you? I don't want to wear with leggings either, had visions of trench coat with sleeves rolled up, nude ballet flats and the dress.

Think that leggings with it will be leggings/tunic/fly boot MN staple mum wear territory. Grin

carciofi · 25/01/2012 14:05

Sounds like a nice outfit. I'm 5'9", Mim. I forgot to say, I think it is true to size (if it is the same as last year's version).

carciofi · 25/01/2012 14:06

The first outfit sounds good, I mean. Not the leggings/fly boots. Wink

blue2711 · 25/01/2012 14:13

I don't like the sound of that Swedish mum carciofi! What is your DD's name if you don't mnd me asking? PM me please! Can't believe how many people have posted suggestions on that thread. Need to make a new short list and force DH to bend to my will.

Thanks for 5050 link marsha. Tempted but can't decide between suede or leather and also unsure about size. I usually take a 4 but they have 3.5s available so if they come up big they'd probably fit...

blue2711 · 25/01/2012 14:15

Oh and love the lanvin flats on NAP Envy Envy!

MidnightinMoscow · 25/01/2012 14:17

Ah, well I am a shortie at 5'4''.

You forget the 'naice' top with the leggings/fly boots. Smile

Swedish Mum reminds me of a staff nurse I employed when I was a ward Sister. She was young, Swedish and very pretty. (But also an amazing nurse too)

I remember my friend who was the ward Sister on the next ward coming over for a cup of tea and taking one look at her and saying, "MiM, what were you thinking...?" Grin

This was obviously my pre DH days when going to work had the added bonus that you might just meet someone you fancy. Keeping the competition to a minimal was essential. Wink

Emo76 · 25/01/2012 14:17

I can't watch "call the midwife" OR "one born every minute" and my second time round giving birth wasn't really too bad at all. I am enjoying the re runs of the "crystal maze" at the moment though and so is DD1!

olly I will not be continuing in Feb but will have dry Sun - Weds I think every week. It all got a bit out of hand in the run up to Christmas!

carciofi · 25/01/2012 14:19

Blue, I know, to top it all off, she's really nice and friendly. The whole package!

carciofi · 25/01/2012 14:21

Mim :). You can always return it, give it a go.

FritziGreenEyes · 25/01/2012 14:22

For the petites amongst us: I like this from JohnnieB. Would be indecently short on me though...

Russianred · 25/01/2012 14:48

Fritzi you star - I have been envisaging that dress in my head for sometime. Shall purchase forthwith - MiM I think I'm going to go for this over the Ladies version - it was the pockets that were putting me off.

Our kitchen is finished! Have stuck a picture on for you to see - it's still quite clearly a work in progress, but am thrilled with it.

Blue it is annoying about Reiss and returns. Had a moment of panic when I thought it was no refunds at all as I have now spotted another lovely dress that I would like. I didn't think shops did that anymore - it's a bit grabby, hey? 5050s are gorgeous you know, the Bloomingdales ones are not much cheaper than buying here, so would be wise to wait and try them on next Autumn.

Zembo your new scarf is glorious.

I might read the book of Don't Call... Have been really enjoying the series - I thought Miranda was brilliant, a great actress.

Cropped jeans nice Ollie - were Boden helpful with button issues?

carciofi · 25/01/2012 15:06

Can't see your photos, Red but fantastic that your kitchen is in!

The Pure Collection silk shirt arrived, I like it and it's a good fit but I don't love it and it doesn't go that well with my velvet jeans. Even for £44 for silk I should like it a lot to keep it, right? This is the shirt I really want but too ££. I also like this Raoul blouse.
