I'm really tempted to try ones of these. Anyone recommend Glossy Box, Boudoir Prive, Feel Unique or similar? I keep reading beauty blogs to see which is best.

Mine says they'll take payment around the 20th and it's due up to a week later, I've yet to recieve my January boxes from Carmine or GlossyBox :(

mrsmartin · 31/01/2012 16:10

I'm still waiting for mine too but I only signed up on friday - they should both be delivered within a week. Carmine and glossybox both have the box listings on their websites now so at least we know what to expect - not too impressed by the carmine offering!!! Might feel different when I see the products but I'm glad I got both of them on a £5/box offer.

SebastionTheCrab · 31/01/2012 17:22

Excited about my FeelUnique box. Apparently they're sent out 1st week of Feb so not long now.
I never spend money on myself in this way so it's a nice change. Smile

StellaAndFries · 31/01/2012 17:24

I have a half price code for GlossyBox if anyone is interested :)

MooMinCow · 31/01/2012 18:04

Ok, am now thinking of trying one (baaa baaa)... Few questions:

I'm a bit of a makeup junkie, so would prefer a box that had more makeup than toiletries - so which company would be best?

And following on, I have dark skin, so no point signing up for a box which only contains colours suitable for fairer skin tones - anyway to personalise the samples a bit?

louby86 · 31/01/2012 18:07

You can fill in a beauty profile about what sort of make up you prefer/skin type with glossy box, not sure if you can with any of the others

MooMinCow · 31/01/2012 18:15

Thanks Louby - don't want to get lumbered with 'porcelain' foundation and self tan samples Grin

Will go and investigate...

HeartOfArse · 31/01/2012 18:25

Anyone got a Glossybox code? i am ordering my first box this evening Grin

Chandon · 31/01/2012 18:34

Have signed up to carmine and got my box within a week, and loved it!

mrsmartin · 31/01/2012 18:38

glossy box code GLOSSYTUBE2012

MooMinCow · 31/01/2012 18:42

Is carmine better for makeup then Chandon?

novelsituation · 31/01/2012 22:54

Some thoughts on the January Carmine box:

Although I generally love bath products, I felt those bathsalts were somewhat meh. Have used them - there wasn't much of a scent, the bath needed a good scrub afterwards and I seriously doubt the " equivalent to a three day fast " claims.

The Korres wild rose moisturiser is lovely. Smells great and very hydrating. Seems to suit my skin.

I find the tiny rollerball in the Balance Me oil sample very frustrating. it doesn't work very well so it's hard to get the oil on the skin. I can't tell if the oil is any good!

My DD claimed the false eyelashes and loves them.

I like the eyeko stick. i got the petrol colour and it's great with my colouring. Needs lots of blending to be wearable, but nice with a complementary shadow on top.

i'd rate the box 5 out of 10 ( Each product can gain a maximum of 2 if I love it, I if it's ok and 0 for a strikeout.)

it's good fun trying out new stuff I wouldn't normally buy, though.

Chandon · 01/02/2012 10:52

The carmine box:

It had a full size Weleda shower gel, lovely and worth the 10 pounds already (or almost), a Blingtone glitter eyeshadow, which I would wear for parties (tried it on), a japonesque brush for smudging eyeliner/eye shadow, which I like (I do smokey eyes a lot), also a nice day cream, but it is a tiny bit glittery so would not use that every day, still like it though, and a Benito Brow bar voucher to have eye brows threaded (worth 15, always wanted to try that!).

So I guess make up-skincare mix.

I like the look of the new box, apart form the eye lashes which I would never use, but can easily give to a friend :)

And I just LOVE having a present for myself, wrapped nicely as well.I so rarely get gifts :)

Chandon · 01/02/2012 10:53

It also has a spray for hair, to help it dry quicker. i have really long hair so worth a try as well.

Housewife2010 · 01/02/2012 10:54

Does anyone get or can recommend the Amarya box? I'm getting urges to try another one.

I have just signed up to Glossybox. I am so excited! (should get out more...)-does anyone know when it should arrive?.

dingdong3 · 01/02/2012 20:15

I wondered that too Chief...if I sign up to GB today, will I get the box everyone's been talking about here or will it be the next month's one - contents still unknown...
Have already signed up to Feel Unique for Feb so really should get a grip and leave it at that...you're all such a bad influence on me...

StellaAndFries · 01/02/2012 20:34

I think you'll get the choice of January or february's box, I did when I signed up last week. I haven't received either of mine yet, but I'm really looking forward to them! Also there are a couple of Facebook groups so people to swap unwanted products from the beauty boxes which looks quite interesting.

StellaAndFries · 01/02/2012 20:35

STYLISTDEC1411 should give you 50% off of your first glossy box :)

dingdong3 · 01/02/2012 20:41

Now Stella, you are exactly the sort of bad influence I was referring to....offering discounts and FB swapping groups to join.

Off to join up now...thanks!

dingdong3 · 01/02/2012 20:57

For info, the stylist discount code didn't work but the Glossytube one did (from further up the thread). It didn't give me a choice of months to start the subscription so I'll just have to wait and see Smile

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 01/02/2012 21:25

sebastion I'm waiting for my FeelUnique box too . Am excited .
Housewife I'm chuckling at you needing another fix ... Grin

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 01/02/2012 21:34

Hello I have a freebie to gift.
It's an YSL brand new unused lipstick in Violet Singulier
As you can guess it is purple ish and it would definetly suit a dark skin much better than mine .
If anybody would like it please PM me.

mrsmartin · 01/02/2012 22:54

Got my latest in beauty special offer box today. 3 Bamford minis (smell gorgeous), 10 day trial of Bare Escentuals foundation and mini buki brush (be is my usual so great for touch-ups if its been raining/ive been crying - the only occassions i need to touch up), 30ml Liz Earle C&P with muslin cloth (I use the new elemis one atm and people say it is like C&P just more expensive so good to try), 5ml of a sisely moisturiser and a Nick Lowe misturiser (oil control so I'll keep for the summer). Oh, and a sachet of lanolips. Pretty darn good for £8!!

I wouldn't buy the main box they have at the mo - not my kind of products. If I get lots of moisturiser samples I tend to use them on my neck etc as I don't want them to go to waste. Either that or I keep them for the spare room, then when I have guests they have a proper selection of bits and bobs that rivals any hotel!!!

Still waiting on my carmine and glossybox - will rate the products when they arrive!!!

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 01/02/2012 23:23

mrsmartin do you mean the Refresh and Recover box ?
I didnt like the look of that one too much either .
