Are you all nursing hangovers or just clearing up the post Christmas mess?

OP posts:

Wilbur, shame about the house. Fingers crossed someone else comes along soon.

CVEnvy on the biker jacket front - it was clearly meant for you! I'm sure your M&S top looks nothing like the one on the website - you definitely have better taste than that!

I am celebrating with a glass of fizzy water ATM - we had a call to say the dreaded Ofsted were coming in this week, but at the 11th hour it was deferred! I would have been the only one there as the other classes will be out on a trip, so much relief, but till when......???

CointreauVersial · 23/01/2012 20:48

Huffy, M&S sizing is often on the generous side, but I tend to fit nicely into a 10. I have to say this is the first pair of M&S jeans that ever fitted me - no gaping waistband either!

That Per Una top - I was on my way to the carpark and literally did a double-take as I was marching past - something about it just appealed. It does look pretty crap on the website, modelled with sensible trousers and mum boots. Or maybe I am a deluded peri-menopausal women just one small step away from elasticated waistbands and comfort footwear.

Ofsted - what a nightmare. The DDs' school's last inspection was on the day of the Great Snow last winter. We all struggled in as best we could, only to find the inspector was stuck in a snowdrift somewhere.Hmm

Blackduck · 23/01/2012 20:51

Oh bummer on the house wilber. We are at the 'move your bloody arse or we put it back on the market' stage. Our estate agent is seriously unimpressed with their solicitor and I am fed up...
Am liking the jeans very much.......
I am a water rabbit apparently I am serene......Hmm :)
I have, as usual, printed off tax cert on savings account (that I have since emptied) for dp. He has done accounts - which is another story as he is in business with someone else ho has never done the frigging accounts, and dp has handed over the only asset worth anything to him. (do you get the sense I am tad pissed off about all this?)

Blackduck · 23/01/2012 20:53

CV well done on jacket purchase - clearly it was meant to be :)

I have ordered some neck cream, which I am going to mix with polyfilla and slather on about an inch thick. Am depressed about the way my neck wattle flaps in the breeze and even so obsessed that I fantasize about surgery. Which is madness (never, ever going to happen). So how do you become philosophical about the ravages of time when they start becoming really apparent?

Blackduck · 23/01/2012 21:12

Avoid mirrors?
It's my gunt that depresses me, so I think about cutting calories and then dp opens a bottle of wine.

You need a MN scarf, Huffy. Hides the wattle or a surfeit of chins a treat. Grin

I rang my DM this evening. She thinks she has a new melanoma on her leg. I asked her if she had seen the doctor, and she said she noticed it the day of her check at the hospital (she has checks every 6 months) but didn't point it out to them as she "wanted to see if they noticed it." Well, clearly they didn't, and she said it has now grown, so has had to book in at the GP to have them look at it...

Am also being v pissed off with a friend on FB who ALWAYS posts snide comments after anything I post. DH says she is frustrated because she gave up her career to be at home with her kids, and now that they are 14 and 12, and she is trying to get back to work, isn't finding it as easy as she told everyone it would be to walk into a job paying megabucks.

Blackduck · 24/01/2012 06:15

Sending chilled vibes all. Is it just the fagend of winter and the gloom of January that is getting to us all (and, in my case my birthday, which never helps these days).
We met for friends celebration and took helium ballons to St James' park, wrote messages and sent them skywards - we did think we had probably broke several royal park by laws..... It was nice, but sad.

MrsS hope your mum is okay, ruby hope dr's appointment works out. MrsS could you block her for a bit? Or just message her a tell her she is being a serious idiot and showing herself up?

bigTillyMint · 24/01/2012 07:53

ruby, hope you can sort the appointment - hospital admin people can be so bloody unhelpful at times.

Huffy, if you find neck cream that hides a "froggy" as my DS calls mine, let me know, though I think MrsS's suggestion of a scarf may well be the best answer!

Am feeling very old as I have just shredded and my back is hurting again. This is only level 2 - I can't see myself ever getting to level 3. Any jumping movement ricochets up my spine Sad

ruby, you are right Smile I feel guilty, though, that I am not doing it properly. I just want to be like Natalie!

Do any of you have DS's who play x-box? DS wants one for his birthday and I think we are finally going to cave (with strict rules about how much gaming time is allowed, of course!) but I have no idea what I am looking for - so many types of console and GB, etc Blush

Blackduck · 24/01/2012 08:37

Friend died of breast cancer last year, would have been her 52 birthday. Felt we should mark it, and her life, somehow (we did have wild ideas of making a Viking ship and setting light ot it on the Thames - only a small one obviously :) )

Dp and Estate Agent going to put a rocket up our buyers today - only reason we took their (low) offer was because they calimed they were good to go (house sold to first time buyers) and now they and their solicitor are dragging their feet.

bigTillyMint · 24/01/2012 09:01

BD, the balloons and celebration sounds like a lovely way to mark your friends birthday. And much safer than boats on fire on the Thames!

herbaceous · 24/01/2012 09:07

All this talk of shredding... really must get back into it. My excuse is my only chance is when DS is having his nap, and that time at the moment is filled with tedious tax returns, charity admin, etc. However, if I didn't spend so much time on mumsnet, I dare say I could squeeze it in!

BTM - I seem to remember level 3 isn't much worse than level 2, apart from incorporating 'plank jacks', a method of torture the Syrian government might like to look into.

Blackduck · 24/01/2012 09:09

Its the bloody press-ups that get me (no upper body strength), I can do the L2 ones, but the L1 ones kill me......

No x-box here - PS house....

bigTillyMint · 24/01/2012 09:15

Herbs, there's plank jacks in level 2 - I can do those fine, it's the walking press-ups, etc in level 3 that are scaring me to death!

BD, the PS3 is supposed to be good, isn't it? I think DS has his heart set on an Xbox, but I don't know the difference!

Blackduck · 24/01/2012 09:17

No walking press-ups easy-peasy (lots of yoga/pilates here so that is no problem) - sounds like between us we could cover all the moves ;)

BTM - no idea, thats dp's area of expertise!! I am rubbish at such games - I play Little Big Planet and die....alot....

herbaceous · 24/01/2012 09:21

Oh I can't do a full press-up. I will be like Anita for ever in that regard!

Ah. Plank jacks level 2, are they. Well, I rest my case. I found walking press-ups easy!

V impressed that you can do plank jacks. Maybe it's because my lower half weighs 10 times my upper half that I find it so hard.

bigTillyMint · 24/01/2012 10:12

Right, I am going to give level 3 a go. Tomorrow. If I get up in time Wink

Ruby, what moves do you do to get your heart-rate up?!

I cannot do a full press-up either - just move a few cm towards the carpet! When I tried ruby/CV?'s plan to try them leaning on the sofa, I was just as uselessBlush But the Anita ones don't feel like anything at all is happening!

Blackduck · 24/01/2012 12:04

AHHHH

They STILL haven't got their mortgage in place. Apparently there are issues on survey with their house (a survey that was done waaaaaaaaaay before Christmas). Solicitor won't do searches until Mortgage is in place. I think this sale is potentially crumbling. Dp has given them until midday Thursday.

And breath..........
