Are you all nursing hangovers or just clearing up the post Christmas mess?

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 22/01/2012 12:09

Blackduck - mwahahahahahaha at size 8. No, I am a bit of a porker, I'm afraid. Grin

OldQueenie - the Fat Shop is (whisper it) Evans. I don't usually venture in there, as I don't want to buy clothes specially made for porkers (quite aware that I am one) but prefer to go somewhere "normal." But their jeans are quite good, and long enough in the leg for me. The only shop that Paris has to offer "plus" sizes (and in Paris it's virtually impossible to find anything over size 12 or any bra larger than a C cup) is UllaPopken If you have a quick look at the tops (Ulla has a fondess for sprinkling anything with a picture of a flower, a few studs or leaves or sequins, or all of these, and has a special fondness for Snoopy) you will see why this is not an option...

motherinferior · 22/01/2012 12:20

Oldqueenie: I am 48 at the moment - 49 in June.

DukesOfTripHazard · 22/01/2012 12:24

Top evening gals. Was hungover and slept badly but went back to bed and was restored for a day of gallivanting with mates up North London.

DD2 has found my Shred DVD [mixture of emotions emoticon] so I gone and done it this morning.

bigTillyMint · 22/01/2012 12:41

BD, you have my sympathies!

We are now in the post-homework phase - DS has gone to match (I have yet to decide whether to cycle up to watch) and DD is getting ready to meet up with friend and go to park. This is code for meeting up with boy(s) - she had her 2 BFF's over last night after party and there was much giggling and passing around of DD's phone

MrsS, didn't see any Snoopy's on your Ulla link - some of the stuff looks OK, but most of it is very drapey. I could be needing it though if I carry on stuffing myself at this rateBlush

CointreauVersial · 22/01/2012 20:51

Another lazy weekend here, although I did sneak off for a couple of hours of solo shopping in Kingston this afternoon. I bought some lovely jade green skinnies from M&S Indigo (there was a thread here recommending lavender, but I thought that was a pastel step too far). I also picked up an absolutely gorgeous top in Per Una, but I might have to keep that one quiet. Blush

I've made a few more sales on eBay this evening, so I now have to wrestle with the packing tape in front of Birdsong (Eeeee! Can't wait! Loved the book.....).

Herbs, you have my sympathies - that sounds like the week from hell. Anything you can delegate/delay/dump???

Blackduck · 23/01/2012 10:17

Link CV?

Herbs, yes, dp is mid tax return nightmare, and then has to submit accounts as well - same every year, leaves it to the last minute, so I am less than sympathetic (to him, not you!).
Major row re homework and ds's attitude to school, his things etc. But we did cook a lovely tea together and wateched the end of Harry Potter (number 2 - only another 6 to go...rolls eyes)
Kung Hei Fat Choy people......May the Year of the Dragon bring you much peace, health and happiness....

bigTillyMint · 23/01/2012 10:50

I'm a dragon Grin

Quite appropriate, really Blush

Per Una, CV Hmm You weren't having a meno-moment, were you? Grin

Blackduck · 23/01/2012 10:55

So am I if you do it by the year, but not if you do it by the lunar year (I come under Rabbit for that...)

bigTillyMint · 23/01/2012 10:58

Try this?

Blackduck · 23/01/2012 11:03

Rabbit on that one (cos my birthday is in Jan....), but if they do it on Year I come under Dragon.....bit of a dichotomy really - rabbit/dragon! Maybe that explains it all :)

bigTillyMint · 23/01/2012 11:07

DD is a rabbit!

Not that I believe any of it, or European astrology Grin

HuffyTheSamphireSlayer · 23/01/2012 11:09

I was born at the tail end of the Year of the Dragon, so I'm sure all the success and wealth that I'm due will be along shortly. Grin Grin

HuffyTheSamphireSlayer · 23/01/2012 11:11

Ds is a Monkey and dh is a Pig. (no unkind sniggering at the back there!)

bigTillyMint · 23/01/2012 12:17

Dh is a monkey. They got that one right Grin

herbaceous · 23/01/2012 15:08

Well roger me sideways and call me Shirley: I've done my tax return! And it took two hours!

Admittedly there were a number of questions I didn't know the answer to, and as the 'advice' line was constantly engaged I chose to answer them in a creative fashion. Still. I owe bugger all tax, it would seem.

herbaceous · 23/01/2012 15:24

On a Fat Chow tip, I'm a 'wood snake', apparently. The 'wood' element slightly compensating for the 'snake' part, which sounds like a right bitch.

oldqueenie · 23/01/2012 16:20

what is it about doing tax returns...? every year i put it off til the last minute, it hangs over me in the most horrible way like a big black cloud of doom and then, when I finally MAKE myself do it it takes almost no time and is almost painless... but then the same thing the next year. feels so immature and feeble that I can't bear it.

wilbur · 23/01/2012 18:06

We have an accountant do our tax. Silly really, but it's mainly because we have a holiday rental house and the tax stuff on that is a bit boggling, plus dh has to do a tax return and he would never, ever (never as in not ever, even if he went to jail for 30 years) do it if he didn't have the accountant on his back. It does mean I get to be smug now though, as my acccountant's deadline is in August.

I am very low this evening. Having been quite sanguine about our house sale, we got a really good offer last week, from what seemed like great people in a good position to buy so it was all hands to the deck, solicitors back in action, and I have slowly been getting very excited. They have just pulled out. Sad And I'm absolutely gutted - I had started to imagine a summer in a big new garden which was a mistake. It was a private sale, too, so we were going to save the agent fees. Poo.

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/01/2012 18:12

Sorry about the house, Wilbur. Sad

DH does our tax returns. At the last minute. Every year. And we can't file ours online either. It is an utter pain.

CointreauVersial · 23/01/2012 18:20

Well ladies, I've been a bit norty on the clothes purchasing front, a sort of anti-Ruby. Grin You know that grey suede biker jacket I've been lusting after in our local "vintage" clothes shop? Well, I went in today and it was still there, and had been marked down in the sale. And I had a voucher for an additional 10% off. Well, I couldn't walk away, could I? Should I??

These are the skinny jeans I bought yesterday, but mine are jade green. And this is the Per Una top. The front panel is a sort of satiny material, but weirdly, the one I have doesn't have giant roses on it like the website picture; it's much more of a watery pattern. It looked lovely with skinnies and boots, and will go so well with a grey suede biker jacket, oh yes. Grin

Well done on the tax return, Herbs - you see, not taxing after all. Boom boom.

Chinese year-wise I'm a Goat, which is charming. If I were a month older I'd have been a Horse, specifically a Fire Horse, which only comes around every 60 years and is Very Special (apparently). I also have a Monkey DH.

CointreauVersial · 23/01/2012 18:21

Awww, bad news on the house, Wilbur.

wilbur · 23/01/2012 18:44

I like the looks of those skinnies, CV.

.

The tan shade looks like it might do well for spring and break me out of my endless blacks and greys. And you totally deserve the grey jacket, it has been waiting for you, pining, all this time.

Chinese-wise, I'm a monkey, which probably means something, but I'm not sure what. Good with my hands?

CointreauVersial · 23/01/2012 19:00

Prehensile toes? Grin

HuffyTheSamphireSlayer · 23/01/2012 19:01

Herbs - well done on the tax return!

Wilbur, sorry to hear about the house sale troubles. Missed you on Friday. Hope your ds's exam went OK.

CV - nice skinnies. How is the sizing on those? Are M&S sizes still coming up rather large? It's been a while since anything in there as our local branch is a) tiny and b) crap. Congrats on finally consenting to give that grey jacket a home. Grin

HuffyTheSamphireSlayer · 23/01/2012 19:06

PS: dh is a Red Fire Pig. He is Very Special.
