Are you all nursing hangovers or just clearing up the post Christmas mess?

The kitten is curled up asleep on DH's ver' expensive and poncy jumper. I have not told him that we had to get poo crumbs off her bottom earlier, and we may have missed one or two, because I think she still smells a bit farmyardy. Grin

The house is an utter tip - all I seem to have done today is cooking, washing and tidying, and all he has done is faff about with his synthesiser, spend 1000 euros (yes, really) on a pair of new glasses Shock and moan about the state of the house. I want to push his organic, raw almonds up his arse one at a time until his bowel is so full that they shoot out at speed and chip little holes in the loo.

Praps not. But he is still breathing and it is really annoying me.

herbaceous · 11/02/2012 23:35

Without the benefit of the doubt, Mrs S, it sounds like you'd be well within your rights to stab your DH. After you finished with the almonds.

Blackduck · 12/02/2012 07:02

1000euro on glasses!! What do they do? Dp spent about a 1000 rupees on his last pair (remember sea, canoe, oar incident?)
Yes, I know the breathing thing. At least dp doesn't moan about the state of the house, he simply doesn't notice the state of the house which is possibly worse. But if he leaves another empty wrapper on the side I may well join the stab fest.

motherinferior · 12/02/2012 09:23

I may need to wear a hat to work tomorrow partly because I am showing about half a centimetre of grey root, which is about half the length of my hair.

DP bought some highly pricy glasses a while back and then lost them. I by contrast am Making Do with a somewhat wonky pair. I do sound alluring, don't I Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/02/2012 09:52

Glasses here are spectacularly expensive - the prices are kept artificially high by the private health insurance which pays for them. We don't have private health insurance (most people get it through work), hence the shafting.

Will you wear your hat all day, MI? Grin

I have cooked three meals so that I don't have to come in and cook every night. I had a bit of a meltdown on Friday - I got in late, DD1 was going to a party, so I didn't take my coat off, just took her. DH asked what we were eating - I said, as I rushed out of the door "Spag bol or chilli - just something quick to use up the mince." Stupidly, I thought that he would then start cooking when I was out, so that we could eat when I got in. Unfortunately, I hadn't told him that this was what I wanted him to do, so when I got in an hour later, about 8.30, nothing had been done. I, err, vented my anger and threw an onion (chopped, not whole) at him and shut myself in the bedroom with a bottle of good claret, while he and DD2 finally cooked.

He has cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen this morning and has taken DD1 riding and has gone to collect DD2 from her sleepover in the arse end of nowhere in the car. I don't drive - I can, I just don't. When he asked me why I didn't, I said, because if I did, that would mean I did everything.

Still quite angry.

Blackduck · 12/02/2012 09:57

A woolly hat or an interesting hat MI? I love the idea of hats, they just don't like me.
I have three pairs of glasses (all less than£10 each), one has only one arm, the other two are bent out of shape where the dog has sat on them.
MrsS I feel your pain. I would have stabbed at the mince episode.......

motherinferior · 12/02/2012 18:03

MrsS, you are a saint. (In a slightly odd Bacchic cult, but a saint nevertheless Grin.)

I am so wiped. Slept half the afternoon, not in a happy-sleepy way but in an utterly zonked way Shock. Inferiorettes are getting all enthusiastic about cooking supper Shock thanks to DP's new vegetarian cookbook. (I am liking this, very much.)

Hair insecurity clearly running rampant in the Inferiority Complex as DD1 found a small bit of chopped fringe (DD2 swears DD1 made with the scissors, DD1 swears not, I am inclined on the objective evidence to feel DD2 on right track)...and has now attempted to even things up. I leave you to guess what the results look like.

Blackduck · 12/02/2012 18:29

Probably as good as my attempts to cut ds's hair when he was younger - 'a sods haircut' my mother called it.
Oh what cookery book?

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/02/2012 18:32

Yes, what cookery book, please? I have only around 200 cookery books and could always do with a new one. Particularly a good veggie one. Rose Whatserchops is our staple, with Anjoum and Madhur for curries.

I have an excellent recipe for a mushroom goulash - I will email it to you, if you want, MI.

motherinferior · 12/02/2012 18:35

Mr Fearnley-Whittingstall's. DP bought it at my suggestion when DD1 went veggie and he started to worry that my 101 books of veggie and/or veggie-friendly cooking (plus my couple of decades of vegetablearianism) would not suffice.

MrsS, Small Inferiorette dislikes mushrooms but would LOVE recipe as the rest of us adore them. (I like this. I am drinking cava, my children are cooking...)
(I like this. I am drinking cava, my children are cooking...)

Blackduck · 12/02/2012 18:38

Oh Hugh is fab - one of my most recent favs....(along with Mr Ottolenghi and his Plenty). Anyone got madhurs world veg?

motherinferior · 12/02/2012 18:41

We stayed at the next cottage along from his (ie about three miles down the Scottish coast) a couple of summers ago (Family Estate held by his mate Sarah Raven's lot. DP knows her brother through work). DP bumped into him briefly when our various children were at the local GP (poor old DD2 managed to contract fanny intimate infection while there). DD1 and I had nipped out to purchase chocolate Grin

I have Madhur's Eastern Veg, rather stained, from my long-ago student days. I might get World Veg.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/02/2012 18:46

The Kleine Schadenfraulein also dislikes mushrooms, but will eat this as the mushrooms are cooked for ages and therefore firm, rather than "slimy".

I have nice bottle of Claret on the go here...

Blackduck · 12/02/2012 18:48

Oh not slimy - sounds good (that is always ds's complaint). I am supping a nice Rioja given to me on Friday by my local Indian (no idea what i have done to deserve it)

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/02/2012 18:54

I put a top in my Amazon basket yesterday that DD2 liked - it was 12.50. Today it has gone up to 50 quid, WTF? So she won't be getting that.

(Have popped Hugh in my basket, MI.)

motherinferior · 12/02/2012 19:27

I can't be arsed bothered to write my required daily 500 words. Am playing loud country music to annoy my fellow-inmates of the Inferiority Complex.

motherinferior · 12/02/2012 19:38

They have run away at Stand by your Man, the song which puts Mr Inferior off his threat to commit matrimony every single time Grin

Blackduck · 12/02/2012 20:56

What's your required daily 500 words about MI?
Stand by your man would have me running for the hills too :)

I hate the way Amazon do that, partic on shoes...

motherinferior · 12/02/2012 21:00

My race/colour book. Which is going to fail, tonight...am off to watch Being Human Grin!

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/02/2012 07:18

I am getting a cold. Full of snot and feeling sorry for myself. Will drag myself into work shortly. Pesky kitten kept me awake last night - kept attacking my feet, and when it got bored with that, climbed the curtains. It is now sweetly asleep, the little sod.

Blackduck · 13/02/2012 07:24

Blame CV she had it last :)
Ds slept in our bed so I moved into his which was lovely and peaceful. Now need to drag my sorry arse to work too.
Hope it's a better week MrsS, oh and wake the kitten up !

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/02/2012 06:53

Kitten has broken DD1's ceramic "thing". Sad I think it can be glued, but she is doing her "Who, me?" little face. And spent last night attacking DD2's feet. Grin

Blackduck · 14/02/2012 08:05

It's like Puss in Puss in Boots - those biiiiiiig eyes. What is/was the 'thing'?

Dp and I are seething about our absolutely usefless buyers (again), even Easter is starting to look unlikely. Part of this move related to ds's education, at this rate he'll have left home........
I am trying to be all 'what will be will be' and Zen about it, but it isn't working
Sad
