Here we go..

ICC, you can get lots of accessories for the Corolle doll, tiny nappies and so on, so your DD can change her doll when you change the baby!

Dolcee, get well soon.

Red, glad you got the dress, it looks lovely. I like the red wallet too, you will find it easily in your bag. My dad asked what I wanted for my birthday, so I have hinted for a Mulberry wallet, here's hoping!

Annie, unfortunately my brothers got thick blond hair and I got the fine, slightly wavy and easily damaged hair. Where is the justice?! It doesn't sound like the permanent blowdry would work for me. My neighbour is a beauty writer for Red magazine and she said to get a round brush and a Parlux hairdryer. Or I will stick it in a bun like Amber! My baby grabs my hair and tries to eat it anyway.

Thank you Bloss, just feel a bit unkempt at the moment. I need to break out the Shred and go to the hairdresser, I think! The cuff is lovely, maybe for Christmas if you don't go for the bike. I also like oversized watches but more delicate earrings and necklaces.

DD2 woke at 5.30 so I have already watched Downton Abbey, baked a cake, made cottage pie and taken DD1 to school. Wearing the CdeC drapey navy top, straight leg jeans and new R&B rockafella tan boots (the CdeC wine boots weren't in the sale so was drawn to Russell and Bromley instead). I have a babysitter coming this afternoon so going to Westfield ON MY OWN! :)

pickledsiblings · 03/11/2011 10:14

hi carciofi, welcome back Smile the best thing for fine hair is a really good cut, maybe you could go shorter and more 'structured'

FritziGreenEyes · 03/11/2011 10:18

annie I would love to swap my boring straight and flat hair for some of your beautiful curls. But I know, grass is always greener etc etc.

icc I always buy gifts for DD and mean to save them, then end up giving them to her because I am so excited. I have already bought a Corolle Chérie for DD for Christmas. It is wrapped in Christmas paper and stashed away in a box, so I won't get tempted to give it to her earlier.

red Well done on securing one of those last dresses. Will look great on you!

Oh Carciofi now I have Westfield envy Envy - might make it my shopping venue of choice next week!

Second a good cut as best bet, I have recently had mine cut and it looks so much better, though it is coming out in handfuls - can anyone remember when that stops?

My ASOS glitter ballerinas have arrived, and I am very pleased with them. Will make a nice night-out alternative to heels!

Good to hear from you Dolcee and Mrsrcb. Hope you manage to stave off the sore throat Dolcee.

Great to hear about the doll plans - DD has the corolle that I bought her last xmas after recommendations from this thread....but she hardly ever plays with dolls! She may well change and 're-discover' her in a few months, but after buying some (quite expensive) accessories that are being roundly ignored I have realised that just because I think they are cute, I can't force her to do the same Grin. So nothing at all doll related this Christmas. She is currently heavily into writing stories, so we are getting her a good quality writers notebook, as well as lego and plymobile stuff, as she loves her lego.

When I had my hair blowdried in LOndon before the MU, the hairdresser recommended a Brazilian blowdry for me. I have lots of hair and it is appealing - especially on a day like today, when I actually blowdried it this morning (a VERY rare event) only to discover that by the time I had walked to the station in the damp it is a frizzy mess. I am going out for drinks after work so have taken the train in order to imbibe. It wont be a late night though - because we are so far out in the sticks the latest train I can get is 2045 Shock. I have booked a hotel for the Christmas do though! Am wearing TS polka dot dress dot dress&pageSize=20 here - much more flattering in rl than that photo. As it is early evening casual drinks I have gone for opaques and grey biker boots with the dress.

Love your oven Annie. It actually looks very similar to ours, although ours is black, so not as bright and light as yours (and probably not as clean.) I don't actually use all the ovens/hotplates etc very often but I feel very smug when I do!

ICC - Exciting news about all the 'proper' pregnancy symptoms. Hopefully it wont be heartburn next..... I only got one braxton hicks, at around 36 weeks, but it was a big one! I was doubled over, gasping, thinking 'Eek, is this is it? I haven't spent 3 weeks on maternity leave having massages!!' Grin

FritziGreenEyes · 03/11/2011 10:48

notyummy Love your outfit! Have a great evening night out!

carciofi Have fun at Westfield!

FritziGreenEyes · 03/11/2011 10:49

Oh, I forgot to add Manuka honey to dolcee's hot lemon drink Smile

rufus101 · 03/11/2011 11:29

Have a great time at Westfield CARCIOFI, I crave an afternoon on my own. Re the hair, I have fine hair, but hairdressers always say I have lots of it. I have found the Babyliss Big Hair amazing. My GHD hasn't been used once since I got it. That and kerastase volumiser. Thanksfor your very kind words, and its funny how even at our age we still like to make a good impression on parents! I really enjoyed myself, and am looking forward to meeting up again. Don't forget to link to all nice things from Westfield!
Hope yesterday went well NJC. Can't wait to hear all about it.
Great oven Annie, here's to many years of cooking ahead.
Hope VERITY is getting on ok. Was fearful it was starting up again today, the rain was so bad.
Have a good night NY. I have lost count of the items I have bought DC, in the mistaken belief, that it was something is have loved as a child, and they have zero interest in. They are just their own people, with their own individual tastes!

Bloss, forgot to say, I came across the scarf link before, I should have posted it. It's very good.

NY, the dress is lovely. Have a good evening.

Rufus, I'll check out the Babyliss. I quite like the length and think short hair has to be more styled (plus DH doesn't like short hair, like most men!). Really, I want yours or Bloss's hair.

Amber, not sure when the hair loss stops but I have the same problem.

The babysitter cancelled. I wanted to get the red LK Bennett Anna bag (as I managed to sell my DKNY coat) but have ordered over the phone and it's on the way. :)

carciofi · 03/11/2011 13:12

Some of the LKB Anna bags are on sale, if anyone else is interested.

carciofi · 03/11/2011 13:17

Fritzi, forgot to say, I am impressed at your DD asking for quinoa. And relieved that Dana didn't win the presidency!

OllieinOrange · 03/11/2011 15:10

Well I don't know, you wait ages for the perfect peacoat to come along - and then 2 come along at once! Was visiting a friend (by way of a bagel cafe - which had the most amazing Oero cake - and a nose round a few shops) and saw a lovely navy peacoat - v similar to the H&M one but with an oversized wrap collar in ribbed wool. It was one sale so brought Hmm and will make a decision which one to keep tonight - 3 navy peacoats is a bit excessive even for me!

Also saw a lovely ring that may be a good buy from DH for my bday (Mulberry Taylor on hold until DH's job is more stable....). Im not really a ring person but really liked this one once on my finger - quite modern in design. Will ponder further. Should have taken a sneaky pic. Am struggling to think of something that will 'last' given its my big 40.

How lovely that you both met up Carciofi and Rufus. Shame about your Westfield trip - hate it when you get all psyched up to go somewhere like that as a treat and then can't make it. Glad you got the Anna bag tho.

Meant to ask, NJC how did your BE make up hold up all day yesterday? I brought a starter kit way back in Feb and have never used it - keep meaning to watch the dvd to know what Im doing with the tap, tap buff thing!

dolceebanana · 03/11/2011 16:21

Hello...hair went surprisingly well with DD in tow. She enjoyed playing with the young things who were delighted to have her there! Was vv good having her hair cut too...Bloss, your DD sounds cute! Ours is quite comical...and has taken to saying, 'Oh, poobags' to everything...(don't ask).

The eldest DD and DS have just had good half term reviews at Parents Eve...much to our relief...both comical too, DS sagely proffering advice to rest of school apparently, and DD affecting voices in various accents - Hmm
Thanks for the warm wishes everyone ...

petitdonkey · 03/11/2011 17:02

Just popping in - I am reading everyones posts, just not finding time to comment!! DD is still poorly but on the subject of cute things they say, "Daddy, my bottom did get sick in my nappy" was a pretty good way of describing the explosion down there!!!

ApuskiDusky · 03/11/2011 18:53

Hello, I'm briefly burrowing out from beneath my mountain of work to say hello - sorry I've not been around, I'm organising a big event next week which was largely the purpose of my interim role. I've been scanning the thread - verity Shock and Thanks, NJC Grin and a [wave] to everyone else. See you in a week!

dolceebanana · 03/11/2011 19:43

Back briefly after putting to bed my three monkeys angels. They were slightly hyped tonight, so had to be rather stern, although they soon win me round as I'm a pushover. DH back from trip away tonight, so looking forward to that.

Carciofi...love those R & B boots, and you certainly do not sound unkepmt!

Notyummy - have a fab evening...outfit sounds great. Love spotty dresses. I need more dresses, actually...... Your DD sounds very bright. I think the planned christmas gifts sound lovely. Sympathise on the hair front...I have lots of wavy hair too, and it's easily frizzed...grrr at the vagaries of British weather...best seen at the beach in long wavy strands.

ICC -exciting times!

Fritzi - Hot lemon with manuka was just what I needed! Oh, I did add some Brandy though: was that okay?

Red - Do want to see that film too...also want to see Tintin....isn't it weird....I have loved Tintin for aeons and now so popular...I pick a name for my eldest DD (which I've loved for ages: think Magic Rounadabout), and is everywhere now. Hmm....

IceCreamCastles · 03/11/2011 19:55

Ermintrude is a great name dolcee Wink

dolceebanana · 03/11/2011 20:11

Ha! ICC , ah, I've just been on the Grandparents House thread and was getting all misting eyed and saw your post, which did make me Grin

Forgot about that one!

Portia4 · 03/11/2011 20:18

Evening Ladies, sorry I haven't had time to post on the thread lately but I have been readingSmile
That's a lovely peacoat in H&M, it's not on the Irish website though.
Verity I hope all is well with you and that you've managed to find suitable alternative accommodation .
I have had a Brazilian blow dry Carciofi , I think that you really do need thick hair for it to work, a really good cut as someone else said is probably your next best option.
NJC Well done on the interview I hope that it works out.
My sil had a DS last week 7 weeks early, so it has been all hands on board with her other DDs.
Lots of lovely links, but I am determined not to buy anything for the moment as I really have enough.
I am sitting watching the Waltons with DD3, and we are off down the West of Ireland for the weekend with another couple tomorrow sans enfants!

blossoming · 03/11/2011 20:22

Lol icecream, very quick!

My DH is home tonight after 2 nights away. He comes home late on Monday too, so he has barely seen the dcs this week. I wonder if that will give me time off for good behaviour this weekend?

I am ashamed to say I have ordered another pair of J Brands. And I may sell the 910s. I think they're too short for me. Or just keep them and use as jeggings to tuck into boots? The J Brands I've bought are these I can't work out which design they are, and am buying them because it says they have 31.5 inch inseam, which would be more wearable than the 28 inch that the 910s are. I'm never going to pay off my credit card am I?

Hair, who'd have it? Although my angled bob is very popular I find it hard to keep it looking good. I might go for a Flavia next time.

I missed that you were poorly dolcee. Hope the brandy manuka honey helped.

What a shame about the Westfield trip carciofi. Couldn't believe it today when a colleague said she had my bag, only in the big size! I don't normally take the annina to work, I'm bound to leave a festering apple core in it or something. Well done on selling the coat. I sold mine today too for just under half what I paid for it, and I'd worn it for 2 years. Very pleased. Back in the swing of ebay again.

Hi to everyone else, was thinking where you were apuski! And lol at ollie with the 3 peacoats!

MarshaBrady · 03/11/2011 20:29

Snap. Dh is home after a few nights away.

It is really nice to see him.

What lovely jbrands.

blossoming · 03/11/2011 20:44

Thanks marsha.
My DH is due home 10.30. When we were first married he still worked away during the week, and I only saw him at weekends. This was the case till I had DC1. Cannot imagine that now. Bed's too big etc etc (showing my age!)

Richard Corrigan is on BBC2. I LOVE HIM.

redllamayellowllama · 03/11/2011 20:47

Have had a mildly stressful afternoon after my account was completely wiped out. It would appear there was a chequebook in my stolen purse Blush. My first thought really was; I'm sure I haven't spent that much in Whistles. Terrible. All resolved now though.

Yes Dolcee it is annoying when that happens - I never heard DS' name being used or knew of any others, then we moved here and it's everywhere I turn! Had I not been a little drunk I imagine I would have enjoyed T,T,S,S more. Well done to your DCs on their reports.

Bloss you could definitely do a Flavs - seems quite a versatile cut too. But your hair is lovely as is. Very nice jeans.

Mine is at an in-between stage - I am trying to get it very long in order to have lots and lots of layers. I normally get bored at this stage and chop it all off, but not this time.

Yay to new bags Carciofi. Your hairs sound to be similar to mine and I find the BBH works really, really well on it. Wen I can be bothered.

3 pea coats Ollie?!

Could any lipstick afficionados recommend a nice wintery red shade - someone else recommended Mac's Russian Red. Any others?
