Here we go..

OP posts:
pickledsiblings · 27/10/2011 10:26

bloss, i do think that if you lived/worked in london that you would have no trouble upping your game but as it is, you don't want to appear much more incongruous than you already do...your dsis would have an even bigger fit of green envy for starters Grin

pickledsiblings · 27/10/2011 10:29

in case my last post was a bit garbled, what i meant was that you are already the most fashionable/glamorous woman for miles around Smile

Emo76 · 27/10/2011 11:17

I think I'm a HoC natural (there seem to be only two choices for tall women) - I am going to invest in designer sportswear and "earth" jewellery Grin

Verity hope you are doing OK, what a horrible thing to happen.

big wave to everybody - am trying to get organised ahead of Africa trip and super busy at work. Will report more later I hope!

roary · 27/10/2011 12:14

Hello my ladies
Hope you are all well! Have been very busy here packing/sorting/away for work.

Will try to catch up. Bloss are your anti-belt views associated with Spider body shape? I can't figure out how to 'belt' without drawing attention to my midsection.

Also thought you ladies might like

Am currently feeling a bit broke so have been averting my eyes from the links.

blossoming · 27/10/2011 12:54

Bless you roary, I think you've hit the nail right on the head. I was wondering why I was looking like Friar Tuck with a low slung belt.
It is the Classic in me rebelling!
She suggested the low slung belt as a way of 'bringing my waist down' as it is very high. There are other ways, ie wearing clothes that hit on the leg crease (if I lift my leg up 90 degrees, my tops should stop there. Could do it with layering maybe. I'll have to dig out my old T&S and Gok books.
The only belt 'look' that I've liked this morning is this one. But it's brown, expensive, and the rest..
So I'm going to stick to this type of look. My favourite, and very me. I'll paint my nails a burgundy colour, and get some big necklaces, and maybe a cuff. The classic in me is still rebelling against taking off my little studs and replacing them with costume jewellery.
On that note, asymmetry is very good for me, so when I've saved up..this one!

wideawakenurse · 27/10/2011 16:01

The cuff is devine Bloss. For burgundy nail polish I really recommend rouge noir from Chanel. I know what you mean about the belt situation, I find they bulk me in the middle.

Great video roary, especially for me as scarfs are my staple at the moment.

Sounds like a lovely day amber, hoping that DH is making up for the other day. Grin

I had a very stressful conversation with my Mother today. I dared complain that I am feeling overworked and tired and that DH and I are feeling the strain of not spending any time alone together. Her response was, "Well, lots of others cope with it". Er, thanks for that. Just what I needed to hear. Don't know why I said anything because she would never offer to help anyway. Frustrating though. Makes me so determined to be such a different parent though.

red I have the beer braised beef in the oven as I type. House smells great!

blossoming · 27/10/2011 16:49

Absolutely love the video roary. Could be life changing too! Thanks for sharing. Hope you carry on sharing and posting when you're in Oz!

Sorry you had a bad experience with your mother today wan. Dinner sounds yum.
I have cabin fever. Is it wrong to wish the half term over?

MarshaBrady · 27/10/2011 18:17

Oh my have had a looooong champagne lunch with friend. As in we only had champagne Grin. Am feeling quite tipsy. Great, funny, lovely chat. Never long enough.

But this year's version of the party I loved so much is on again. The Pressure.

MarshaBrady · 27/10/2011 18:18

And since I feel as I do, I think I will go out on a limb and say Emo I think you could be Romantic Natural but would need to know what NJC thinks Grin

roary · 27/10/2011 18:51

£465 for a belt??? This may be the first time I have fainted from sticker shock. Tis nice but you could get 1.5 lib Anna bags for that and I thought they were pricey! Reiss often has nice ones.

FritziGreenEyes · 27/10/2011 19:34

Aw, thanks all you are too kind. I wouldn't have such a great wardrobe without you all as inspiration!!! Plus I am only describing outfits I am really pleased with. I am sparing you the details of my lounging on the sofa combo with a glass of red right now.

marsha Meeting old friends + champagne sounds lovely!

bloss Don't stress over belts. If you don't like them, don't wear them Smile. Same with costume jewellery: If you are wearing a statement piece like a necklace or cuff, small diamond studs will be absolutely fine. You don't want to look like a Christmas tree. I have a Chanel nailpolish called "Diabolic". Would be great for you.

roary Watched the link with DD just before she went to bed. We were both very impressed!

wan Such an unhelpful remark from your mother! Hope you can forget it soon... I am dreading the weekend a bit as I have to spend a weekend in a spa with my Mum and my sister. I love them both but our mother has her moments too...

You're right fritzi, I'm not going to stress it. One of the characteristics of a Classic is that everything has to be expensive, so not sure how that sits with costume jewellery anyway. I may email my consultant and put that to her. I think things can be oversized with me, so maybe one of those Chanel J12 watches (is that what they're called?)
Thanks for the nail varnish suggestions. I wouldn't wear them to work, but I will try and look more groomed nail-wise with a pale pink varnish.
I had a mother/daughter bonding over roary's video link, with my mother!

FritziGreenEyes · 27/10/2011 19:43

Might take my laptop and watch scarf tutorial with Mum and my sister at the weekend Smile.

X post njc, thanks for that. I was wearing the wrong top yesterday for sure. At least I've been persuaded to get a crisp white shirt again. I haven't had one for ages. I coveted a Joseph one early this year but didn't buy it in time. DH has always loved me in a shirt. I find them good at disguising bellies too. I think I can wear the Agnes with a white shirt, and some big jewellery at the neck. Some kind of chain maybe?

My sister has always looked good in cheaper clothes too njc. It's very good to have things on paper. I have often felt on my own out there!

MarshaBrady · 27/10/2011 19:50

Dh looks good in cheaper clothes. American Apparel, H&M. I need natural fibres, good colour which usually means more expensive. I'm so glad cashmere is on the ingenue list.

I buy all colours I think. A bit naughty. But strong blues, watermelon recently, even black but has to be incredible quality if black.

I am reminded of that scene in A Devil Wears Prada with Meryl's excellent speech about cerulean blue Grin.
