yes agree with that. I think my mother said enough times the French they know colour for it to stick. (and no I am not French. But my mother is half and indoctrinated Grin)

NJC sometimes my computer rejects links. What is the name of the Reiss coat you bought?

petitdonkey · 27/10/2011 21:18

Bloss - I am fascinated by your style day and would love to do it but I didn't really bond with my consultant IYSWIM. Sympathies for the sickness - so just what does a dramatic classic wear whilst mopping up vomit???

DD got much worse yesterday and couldn't even keep down water so my GP sent us to A&E. She is fine now and my lovely friend took off the other two today and kept them for a sleepover. Today I have mostly been working my WC fold-top jersey pants, long sleeved T and glasses. Big improvement on yesterday which had all of the above plus vomit in hair Grin

petitdonkey · 27/10/2011 21:22

NJC - so sorry your coat search is proving fruitless, will you have any time at all to go to the shops and do a mammoth trying on session. I know it's already been linked to but have you seen this?? I'm a summer and think it may be too autumnal for me but I love it. Planning on trying it on next week: it will be perfect and in the sale when I can buy it after Christmas. this one is lovely too.

notyummy · 27/10/2011 21:34

Oh dear. Sorry to hear about the coat NJC. I like the look of the Oasis one though- fingers crossed. I quite the thought of being dramatic romantic- although the term does conjur up Nancy D'olio trying to the tango in my mind Grin.

Sympathies to the poorly children. Hope the lurgy vanishes soon Petit.

We have booked the Australia trip Shock Grin. Fairly scary amount of money but can't wait!

Portia4 · 27/10/2011 21:51

NY Nancy d'Olio made me lol!
Petit you poor thing, am sending a glass of wine your way!
Bloss I have a Cartier Panthere and a J12 watch, and always wear stud earrings, but do wear lots of chunky jewelery with them- not all together!
I am amazed at the style profiling as it does appear to be somewhat accurate! I am even self employed!
DH brought me home Grazia this evening as a peace offering!lots of 25% of codes in it.

blossoming · 27/10/2011 21:52

Luckily I was mid-shred petit. At my worst!

Thanks for the Pia link njc, and sorry about the coat. You have made me think about slate though. There are Welsh jewellery designers who work with slate. this one for example, although most of her work is too curved for me. Will keep looking, aswell as watching my scarf tutorials! Anyone else at it?

Wow notyummy, so exciting!

blossoming · 27/10/2011 21:59

Or maybe this would be angular enough.

redllamayellowllama · 27/10/2011 22:01

All of this style stuff sounds very interesting. Having had a really good look, I have absolutely no idea where I would fit into any of it.

Shame about the Reiss coat NJC - I was similarly let-down by one of their coats.

Bloss that cuff is to die for indeed, just gorgeous. Am also a fan of Rouge Noir.

Fantastic that you've booked your trip NY; it's bound to be completely amazing. Grin at your equating a dramatic romantic with Nd'O.

Fritzi sounds a gorgeous outift.

Roary that video is amazing. It made me want to go and buy a McQueen scarf immediately (incidentally, does anyone here have one - have toyed with one for some time, but not sure how much I would wear).

How was dinner WAN?

Our house is currently on an island, surrounded by trenches ready for footings. Awful. Luke the hunky builder is boosting morale though.

I drove for the first time in 2 years today - was quite something! Will need to build my confidence back up again, but it felt very liberating, I must say.

I am also now job-hunting in earnest. Not that my searches today have brought up anything other than positions as a recruitment consultant (oh, the irony). Am feeling very nervous, completely out of my depth and under-qualified. Feels like a huge leap.

The Slap is on BBC4 now - anyone else planning on watching?

notyummy · 27/10/2011 22:25

Reviews for The Slap generally v good I think. When i read the book I hated pretty much every character without exception and I am not sure I can cope with seeing such unpleasant people on screen.

Am loving 'How to be a woman.'

redllamayellowllama · 27/10/2011 22:30

NY I am of much the same opinion - and it's making for toe-curling viewing, but am enjoying. Glad you're enjoying How to be a Woman - fab isn't it?

blossoming · 27/10/2011 22:31

race you to it red. At least with that one, no one's going to tell me I look like my mother, or worse still, my maiden aunt.

FritziGreenEyes · 27/10/2011 22:32

Didn't finish reading The Slap...

Don't know who recommended Every Last One, which I really enjoyed reading.

blossoming · 27/10/2011 22:33

such great colours for me.

blossoming · 27/10/2011 22:33

But actually, the NaP stylists could do with looking at roary's video too.

redllamayellowllama · 27/10/2011 22:34

No, no risk of that Bloss! Gorgeous isn't it. Would slot nicely into your wardobe, no? Wink

FritziGreenEyes · 27/10/2011 22:35

Great scarf bloss. Think you should wear to school Wink

redllamayellowllama · 27/10/2011 22:37

That Acne jacket the red one is styled with is pretty damn lovely too.

FritziGreenEyes · 27/10/2011 22:43

red Gorgeous jacket!!

wideawakenurse · 28/10/2011 08:28

Good Morning.

I have my scan today, DH has taken DS to nursery so I am having tea and toast in peace, heavenly!

red the beef was fantastic, thank you so much for pointing out the recipe for me. The building work is really coming along isan't it? Have you decided on which kitchen you want yet?

NY I laughed at you Nancy D. comment. I loved Moran's book too. Great news about the trip too.

Bloss that scarf is stunning, but ouch it's ££ I am currently hankering after this as a possible Xmas gift.

Shame about the coast NotJust, the hunt continues.

Poor DD petite, glad she is on the mend now though.

AmberNectarine · 28/10/2011 09:56

Hello all,

Had a lovely evening with friends and DH coped all by himself! However, the powers that be obviously decided I had too much fun so I was up most of the night with a sickness bug (only had 2 glasses of vino so I know it wasn't that!) ended shivering up on the sofa so I could be near the downstairs bathroom without disturbing the DCs. Think I am over the worst of it now.

It's my parents' birthday today (yep, same birthday, even same year) so we will pop in for a visit later. DM getting a scarf and some L'occitane hand cream, DF some books about woodworking Hmm

Loving all the style chat - would be nice to actually meet some of you to place it (as I now have quite clear mental images of you all!)

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 28/10/2011 09:58

wan good luck today - are you finding out the sex? That scarf is on my B'day list in red - good choice, I love that blue but that colour would make me look half dead (though need no assistance with that this morning)

OP posts:
notyummy · 28/10/2011 10:16

Sorry to hear you haven't been well Amber - hope it passes quickly.

Good luck with the scan WAN - very exciting!

Was nearly seduced by a couple of dresses in the ASOS magazine that arrived yesterday, but a.I don't need them and b. I think they will be far too short on me, going by my previous ASOS experience. They aren't available online yet anyway so I am safe Wink.

Gorgeous day here today. Off for a run before taking DD and DPs out for a trip to a local 'quaint' town and a slap up lunch. Watched Jamie's Great British Food thing las night....luckily after I had eaten because lots of the food looked amazing, but highly calorific!

Only one more day before 'the great escape' for DH and I!

rufus101 · 28/10/2011 11:12

Sorry to hear of all the sick smallies. I can handle anything but vomit.
I have the red MCQ scarf that you linked to in blue BLOSS. Tis very nice and I wear it all the time. Even DH likes although he would faint st the thought of spending that much on a scarf!
Met the lovely Carciofi. We knew so many people in common, I don't know how we didn't meet before!
