Grin

Because moonlight gives you a nice glow and doesn't show up your wrinkles or grey hair.

bigTillyMint · 07/09/2011 21:06

And MI

bigTillyMint · 07/09/2011 21:07

Oh, and Good Luck MI for tomorrowSmile

CointreauVersial · 07/09/2011 21:12

I'm London(ish), but will travel if there's the promise of a good social.

BTM, now you've started a LIST, it's official.

We can do something grown-up (as we are crepeys). Dates??

bigTillyMint · 07/09/2011 21:35

Well, then we need a quiet pub with comfy chairsWink

motherinferior · 07/09/2011 21:55

I'm in.

CointreauVersial · 07/09/2011 22:17

And subdued lighting. Wink

CointreauVersial · 07/09/2011 22:17

And large-print menus (I could go on.....).

wilbur · 07/09/2011 22:17

I will be keeping THAT area of depilation to myself, MI! Shock Unless there are tequila slammers on offer Grin.

Thursday/Fri nights are good for me and not much going on Oct/Nov apart from half term. So we need somewhere not too noisy with large print menus? And huge drinks, natch.

Where would the non-London residents be coming in from, or staying? Just to get a general area to find a good place. If it's anywhere near Waterloo, I have a hankering to go to Skylon at The Festival Hall (used to go when it was The People's Palace but haven't been since the refurb). They have a set menu in the Grill for groups which looks nice. And the bar looks cool. It's not very central though, esp if people are coming from northwards. Or we could a drink somewhere chi chi and then go for cheap eats elsewhere which is what dh and I often do - the glow from the bar at the Savoy keeps us going through omlette and chips at The Stockpot.

wilbur · 07/09/2011 22:18

Damn, CV beat me to it with the large print menu joke.

Attractive young waiters?

motherinferior · 07/09/2011 22:19

Thursdays not good for me as have Choir. Fridays always fab. And - all being well - I should be in town too.

CointreauVersial · 07/09/2011 22:27

Yes, attractive waiters. So we can go "oooo young man!" in lecherous old-lady tones.

I went to the People's Palace a few times back in the day; a good friend of ours worked there as a chef. South Bank is very handy for me if I take a Waterloo train; in fact it's where my mum and I meet to hand over the DDs if they have been staying with her. There are a few other restaurants there, but I can't think which ones.

But anywhere in town would be fine tbh.

WooT! This is going to RULE.

Skylon, as far as I remember, is unremarkable on the food front, but good views, if you can get a window table. Pretty hand for most peeps, I'd imagine. I'll don my best thinking cap to come up with additional options.

herbaceous · 07/09/2011 23:35

Anyone have any dietary requirements, such as soft food that won't get stuck under dentures? Proximity to lavatory at all times? Prune juice?

CointreauVersial · 08/09/2011 00:16

Yay! Ruby too!

Blackduck · 08/09/2011 06:26

Good luck MI!!

Strops - yes turning Japanese round here.

Meet up, hum, I'd be scared that you are actually all tres glam and I am the only real hag! Plus I'm not sure i'd cope in such clever company! I am not in London, but dependant on dates could navigate down for an evening and stay with the folks.

Ds back to school - hooray!

bigTillyMint · 08/09/2011 06:56

YAY!

So a Friday night sounds best for most?

Maybe Skylon? Waterloo sounds good for many?

List:
BTM
CV
Herbs
Wilbur
MI
Strop
ruby
BD
MrsS?
Have I forgotten anyone?

BD, do not panic! I am not glam or clever but people still talked to me at the last meet-up!

Stropperella · 08/09/2011 08:36

A Friday night best for me - and yes to Waterloo too. Blackduck, I am - despite my best efforts - about as glam as a sack of spuds. I will be the one with straw in my hair. :) Also the one who looks truly ancient. I look older than (ancient) dh this morning, as ds had a hour's gushing nosebleed starting at 5.30am. Second time in a week. Am taking him off to the doc's shortly and I shall have to wear a scarf to prevent my neck wattle from flapping in the breeze. Lack of sleep has apparently caused my face to melt.

orangina · 08/09/2011 10:11

Oooh, can I join into a hagsy meet-up? After September please..... GOOD LUCK TODAY MI! Will txt you now....

bigTillyMint · 08/09/2011 10:52

Of course orangina!

herbaceous · 08/09/2011 10:59

Maybe October would be best. Something to cheer up those autumnal evenings, and could warm us up for big MN meet, should we desire.

Thought of another venue option: the bar of the BFI. We could meet there, and then go on. It does get crowded on a Friday, however. Or the bar of the Young Vic. Hmmm.... it's all about finding somewhere with enough seats, quiet enough music, and attractive enough staff, on a Friday night.

Ooh, how about Baltic on Blackfriar's Road? Nice bar area, and lovely food - all nordic. Fish, n that. Juniper.

orangina · 08/09/2011 11:27

Thank you Smile. Waterloo fine. Had delicious dinner in great restaurant somewhere under the RFH I think.... will rack ancient brain to try and remember name.....

orangina · 08/09/2011 11:28

here!

orangina · 08/09/2011 11:29

Called Canteen..... (apologies if it has already been mentioned....)
