Grin

Because moonlight gives you a nice glow and doesn't show up your wrinkles or grey hair.

Have a good weekend CV (and everyone else!). Main concern at last nights viewing was noise - he's a doctor and works nights. Wants to move by Christmas (ahhhh) which would be fab but scary. I have visions of Christmas day surrounded by boxes in a cold house eating cheese sandwiches :) he needs to make an offer though! I am feeling very lonely at the mo, no idea why.

About 35 miles...BUT from a big city, to a smaller town, more rural, so really a lifestyle change. So selling large Victorian semi with massive garden and buying (hopefully) small cottage in third of an acre that is costing considerably more.....I am having moments of Hmm

It's the nearest dp will get to living in a field in the middle of no where.
Dumb questions:
Dp: this pole is structural so you can't remove it. It is holding up the roof
Viewer: what happens if I remove it?
Dp: the roof falls down.
Viewer: so can I remove it?
Dp: as long as I am not around you can do what you like.

Viewer: could I make the extension a foot wider/longer?
Dp: I have no idea, I am not a planning officer.

Viewer: could you level off the stairs?
Dp: refer to previous answer

Viewer: how much do you want for the car
Dp: it's not for sale.
Viewer: but if it was how much would you want

PMSL, Blackduck.

Am drafting secondary school applications. This makes me Nervous.

bigTillyMint · 16/10/2011 17:38

Drafting? I just filled in the online application form. Now I am feeling nervous!

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/10/2011 21:28

Ohhhh, Crepesters, I have done it again. Had friend staying here last night and had two MN friends over. Had too much to drink, had to very slowly walk one of the MN friends home (she had been drinking my 58% proof cognac out of the bottle) - fortunately we got her home before she was sick. The other MN friend stayed over and we got to bed at around 4.00. Owww....my head today. The Vomiting One apparently felt as fresh as a daisy after she had honked. The other three of us sat round my kitchen table eating Nurofen and drinking tea all morning...

Having had a lovely day alone with DS1 on Friday I was treated to the re-appearance of Hell Boy on Saturday. He was truly vile all day. He was sent off during his football match for kicking someone; Shock luckily it was his coach who took him off, not the ref (he then had to watch the rest of the match from the sidelines, and, yes, they lost). This was followed by Homework Wars in the afternoon, during which he screamed, shouted, cried, threw his schoolbooks at me several times, and generally behaved like a two-year-old. Oh, hormones.

Grin Blackduck. Where do these people come from? The stupidest house viewer I had said she was put off the house because there was a dishwasher in the kitchen, and she didn't want one (just take it out ffs!!).

MrsS, I don't know where you get your stamina from.

herbaceous · 17/10/2011 13:06

Mrs S is surely an example to us all.

Just back from my choir 'tour'. Which comprised one concert in Mere, in Wiltshire, spiritual home of the body warmer and skirt combination, and where no-one is under 60. Beautiful place, though. I cleared out the charity shop: Laura Ashley sample jumper, Monsoon black jumper with marabou trim round the neck, geometric print wrap dress, and child's cord jacket with fleece lining. Grand total of £20.

Slightly trying journey there and back. Got a lift both ways, with different people, so had to bite my lip in the back as both drivers chose long, convoluted routes. On the way back it was supposed to take 3 hours, but took 5, due to the Blackwall Tunnel being closed. The extra two hours were taken up by the third passenger in the car reading out every road sign we passed, until I thought I was going to garrotte her from behind with her glasses chain.

bigTillyMint · 17/10/2011 13:18

MrsS, I detect a theme here - MNers and alot of alcohol.....

CV I feel your pain (though not this weekend as we were all delighted to see our lovely friends who sadly live oop North!)Glad it's not just my two that act like thisGrin

Herbs, I can only admire your patience. And good shopping fortune!

Stropperella · 17/10/2011 17:16

Mere, Herbs? Ah, I shall have to visit their charity shop the next time I am up that way. Mere is not far from where my mother lives. And previously only well known to me for the excellent smoked trout paté that is produced there. The journey from where you are sound like hell, though Grin

MrsS, what has your liver ever done to you, eh? Grin

I am too knackered to think straight at the mo' - ds is still afflicted by his weirdy virus and had me up from 3 - 5.30am last night and I have a deadline this pm and coursework to do, grrrrrrrr. OK, he is poorly, but he is also being a prize pain in the backside. I have left him to moulder on the sofa today with dvds and comic books. I hope he feels properly better soon.

CV, I have every sympathy with you on the homework wars front. Ghastly. The school texted all parents today to ask us if our Y9 children had shown us the letter about the upcoming important science test. Oh yes, the one that said they had to do revision. Ahahahahaha

Stropperella · 17/10/2011 17:19

BD, good luck with finding less twittish house buyers soon Grin

Right, sorry for my whinging. I am just soooo knackered. Cannot do without my kip these days

DukesOfTripHazard · 17/10/2011 17:45

I hear you. You with your tedious journeys/boys/ill people. And your nice friends and your ridiculous hangovers and your secondary choices and good chazza shopping.

I hope that's everyone.

Please come and say something on my thread here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/1323184-Why-wont-GP-admit-my-mum-to-hospital?msgid=27979142#27979142 Cheifly please provide me with rational set of questions to ask that will expediate her diagnosis.... or something Sad

MI would be thrilled to be diverted by any length of a PM about your thought processes/choices

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/10/2011 18:05

I've posted on your other thread, Dukes.

Ducks post news when you have a mo. Hope all is okay.

Blackduck · 17/10/2011 21:07

Dukes - how did I end up with ducks?

bigTillyMint · 17/10/2011 21:18

Yes - hope you are getting her into hospital as we post.

Stropperella · 17/10/2011 21:23

DukesOfTripHazard · 18/10/2011 10:34

Thank you everyone. Please go back to check thread and read horrible update.

Stropperella · 18/10/2011 10:43

Oh Dukes, your poor mum. I do hope that she will get the proper treatment now. What a ridiculous performance at the hospital. And it makes you wonder about the fate of all the poor souls who for whatever reason don't have an articulate relative who can kick some backsides for them.

Blackduck · 18/10/2011 12:05

Sheesh Dukes am so Angry and Sad for you, what a rubbish state fo affairs. Hope things improve from here on in.
