Grin

Because moonlight gives you a nice glow and doesn't show up your wrinkles or grey hair.

Ooh, lots of good ideas! My tummy is rumbling already which is not a good signSmile

If it's to be a Friday in October, it could be either 7th, 14th, 21st or 28th. The 28th falls in half-term here, but I think we will be around!

Stropperella · 08/09/2011 12:20

Oh my, it is all so... sophisticated. As far as I know, I could do the 7th or the 14th of Oct, but will have to consult with my aged relatives as to whether they can put me up (or put up with me) on those dates. Remaining Fridays in October no good for me, I'm afraid.

I can also do any Friday in October, although 21st might be a bit of a problem. Canteen sounds yum, or the fishy place Herbs mentioned (I shall defer to the Londoners on choice of restaurant, as I am now sadly out of touch on such matters).

herbaceous · 08/09/2011 13:11

Canteen's closer to Waterloo than Baltic. I've never eaten there, as I stropped off after I'd stood in the 'wait here to be seated' line for five minutes and no-one came to 'seat' me. Maybe if there's a lot of us, being stern with our pince-nez, they'll seat us quickly!

Maybe a bar beforehand, for a 'stiffener'.

I'd love to come, I'm only an occasional poster here on crepeys, but I love the posts......Smile

orangina · 08/09/2011 13:48

Not sure I can do the 14th (might be away), but can do the others..... think when we ate at canteen we had booked? We ate after a concert though, so it was hardly heaving..... Grin

Am happy to go wherever though....

bigTillyMint · 08/09/2011 14:07

Yes, join in beachy!

Stropperella · 08/09/2011 14:15

I have a small rant that I need to get off my chest. About my hair. I realise that I should be glad that I have hair, any hair. But I am deeply cheesed-off about the results of yesterday's appmt at the hairdresser. I do not recall ever saying anything about wanting a back-to-the-80s haircut. But that seemed to be what I came home with. Still, I was sort of resigned to looking like a grannified version of my mid-80s self. Until I looked in the mirror this morning and found that I now look like Margaret Thatcher crossed with a sheep that has been struck by lightning. It appears that my hair has gone into post-haircut vertical shock. I may take a leaf out of my mother's book and simply never, ever venture near a hairdresser again. My mother has not been to a hairdresser for 40 years and has nicer hair than I do.

(am also very probably suffering from PMT, so am feeling very RAAAAAAAAAH. frankly)

Rant over.

herbaceous · 08/09/2011 14:16

You can only come if you've got a gunt.

Maybe we could all identify ourselves by carrying a copy of Chums catalogue. Is that what it was called?

And how about 7 October? Is that good for most?

beachyhead · 08/09/2011 14:20

I have a gunt.......and hence big knickers.......Is there a dress code Wink

bigTillyMint · 08/09/2011 14:30

7 October is fine for me!

I don't think we will be going anywhere that requires a dress code. Unless Herbs turns it into one of her funky parties?Grin

Never heard of Chums, but what about People's Friend - is it still going?

Blackduck · 08/09/2011 14:32

"Until I looked in the mirror this morning and found that I now look like Margaret Thatcher crossed with a sheep that has been struck by lightning. It appears that my hair has gone into post-haircut vertical shock" - Grin Loving it!!

I will try to fit round everyone esle re date....

I am currently in shock as have just discovered that a friend I worked with (but haven't seen for a couple of years) committed suicide in April... am Sad

bigTillyMint · 08/09/2011 14:34

BDSad What a shock. Did he/she leave any children?

orangina · 08/09/2011 14:57

My bulky midriff has somehow sort of crept up on me, which I am mighty pissed off about to be honest. So unless I manage to make myself do the shred religiously between now and then, I will come armed with my gutlet.

(note: would almost put money on the fact that I will NOT do shred between now and then..... sigh)

orangina · 08/09/2011 14:57

(Sorry Blackduck, have interrupted with trivial gut chat, sorry.... Sad)

Blackduck · 08/09/2011 15:01

Orangina no worries - I have a gut too......

Yes, four and one on the way at the time. His wife is in a state of shock (didn't really know her that well, because we were work friends/colleagues and didn't really socialise outside).....bit hard to get my head round really as he didn[t strike me as the type (but then they quite often don't)

wilbur · 08/09/2011 18:52

I can do any of those October dates except the 14th. Can also do first 2 weekends in Nov.

motherinferior · 08/09/2011 19:03

I have no life so will fit right in Grin

Blackduck, how awful about your friend.

I have survived a day in the office. It slightly did my head in. Tomorrow I have to do some different work which will slide into the weekend but for which I can invoice Huge Amounts....

bigTillyMint · 08/09/2011 19:38

MI, glad your first day went well think of the £££'s!

So it looks like Friday October 7th is good for alot of us?

Blackduck · 08/09/2011 20:37

MI -sounds like a good day.
It has all been a bit weird, on one hand it is such a selfish act and on the other hand you wonder where someone must be in their head to do that. He apparently had a row and she thought he had gone to calm down and, well, that was it.....

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/09/2011 07:24

I can probably do the 7th, if DH doesn't moan too much about me never being here (he doesn't know about my planned weekends in Vienna and the US for later on in the year). Will see if I can do a work trip for Thursday/Friday and tag on the Friday night.

OP posts:
Blackduck · 09/09/2011 08:51

I have just seen the suggestion about carrying a copy of Chums, that is fine as long as I don't have to wear the trousers from there (I may be sliding rapidly towards old age but I draw a line there...)

Stropps - dp wants to do Christmas in the Bongo Shock (I suppose it is the perfect excuse for not inviting anyone round.....)

bigTillyMint · 09/09/2011 09:00

Oh God! just realised I think wehave friends coming for the weekend of the 7thShock Will try to rearrange it if that is the night that's best for everyone.
