Autumns-is there anyone out there??!!

After reading another thread about Spring ladies I was wondering if there are many autumns out there? I'm a leaf autumn, had my colours done about 18 months ago and am still trying to sort out my wardrobe/makeup! I'm hoping now that autumn clothes are in the shops there will be a few more things about in my colours!

Have just been told I could be a clear spring.

PigeonPie · 25/08/2011 15:25

Twit - it's definitely worth waiting - and actually quite exciting!

ShirleySharpeyes · 25/08/2011 15:59

Agree - it is deffo worth saving the pennies for a proper consultation - It is very nice to have your best colors officially confirmed - and I have found it does help massively when shopping (either online or in RL).

I have just bought this fab (and cheap) teal top which will be good for layering and this green blouse from H&M which will be OK with jeans.

Am still trying to work out what kind of trousers to go for....I really can't see myself wearing camel colour trews so what's the alternative? I work from home mostly but do occasionally need to smarten up a bit for meetings a few times a week - but don't need corporate type clothes - as am invariably going out to muddy farms so need trousers I can stuff into wellies!

Hi! Shirley, that H&M top is a great find, might have to add it to ds's order. Re trousers, I have navy smart trousers, and I have bought a few trousers from Uniqlo in khaki and dark brown. But I love cords and velvety trousers so the autumn colours suit that.

ShirleySharpeyes · 25/08/2011 20:37

I may well opt for some grey or navy cords - I like the straight leg ones Toast do, but I will have to ebay some bits before I can justify the expense.
Teal is one of my ** colours and I keep looking at purple and berry colours thinking they are Autumn colours, but not sure. HoC do not really include them - do CMB? I have a lovely if ancient cashmere jumper in a deep burgundy which I am loathe to give up but not sure about the colour..... not sure it is truly an Autumn colour advice greatfully received!

ShirleySharpeyes · 25/08/2011 20:40

Thanks Apuski - I shall have a look at Uniqlo - I am really hopeless when it comes to finding trousers; they are such a palaver to try on - a nice new top is so much easier to find!!

ApuskiDusky · 25/08/2011 21:05

The purple I have a ** in is a kind of blackberry shade - not too far from navy in reality. I'm off to a wedding and will be wearing my LKBennett Davina dress in purple which is exactly the right shade. More damson purples are too pink - and I think burgundy may be the same. Having said that, I think as deep autumns we can maybe get away with different colours as long they are rich and deep, which I would class burgundy as! But Clevery knows more than me on all this stuff!

Blackberry shade dress sounds fab - I think I will stick with some of my berry shades - they are dark and autumny to my mind and they tone reasonably well. I also prefer them to mustard (apparently a ** on me - not sure I agree) and camel any day, so will adopt a few more options from the CMB I think. Certainly the 'chicfashionista' site included purples for Autumns as well - I shall try to stick to dusky purples I think. Thanks ladies!

sparkout · 26/08/2011 08:59

Love that teal top....think I may need to go shopping tomorrow!!

I haven't bought from Kettlewell either - also due to ££ constraints - and when H&M, Uniqlo etc do such good cotton basics in our colours I can't really see the point in spending much more ...I have referred to the Kettlewell colour charts though and interested and pleased to see that they class aubergine and blackberry as Autumn colours.

raspberryroop · 26/08/2011 20:53

Hi can I join , I'm a refuge from the spring thread - always thought I was a spring but have had my colours done this morning and ... I'm an Autumn. Still reeling a bit lol

I was 'done' by CMB, and am an Autumn - deep and warm. I never go anywhere now without my swatch book and it's saved me a fortune. I love when the winter season clothes come out, because they're normally more my colours than summer clothes. Greens, reds, purples - love them.

raspberryroop · 27/08/2011 08:46

OOHh hope the same happens to me Prickly - dont really ''get' my colours yet and there is just so much black around !

ShirleySharpeyes · 27/08/2011 09:33

It took me a while to understand my colours - I bought a couple of vests in the right colours to layer with old stuff and a scarf, and a packet of dylon!
But it is worth perservering, I was in TK Maxx yesterday for the first time since I had my colours done, and it made it sooo much easier - I could ignore all the grey and black which I would normally have immediately chosen as my safe colours.

sparkout · 30/08/2011 09:11

Did anyone get to the shops this weekend? DD had a temp and was very grumpy so I had to stay at home with her and it was bloody freezing...I need some warm clothes!

No waiting for the kids to go back to school - wondered if we should start a facebook group like the springs? They are posting loads of links to online items and makeup?

If anyone is interested (sorry it took me so long ApuskiDusky) the bobbi brown lipstick is indeed called Toffee and I think is a great neutral shade for us autumns.

As far as Boots No. 7 goes I have the 3 in 1 eyeshadow compact in "Romantic" which are purpleys bought before CMB and thought they suited me but now I can't tell.
