I still haven't found a ring I love. How about this one?

The Promise Lattice ring (the hexagonal thick band with lattice and stars).

I do really like this one. I think.

wendihouse22 · 03/06/2011 10:17

Bloody iPad..... Stylised.

allhailtheaubergine · 03/06/2011 10:22

Dirt magnet? Do you think?

It's for wearing on my finger Grin

I am trying to find something that I love, but I am REALLY fussy about comfort and can't bear anything that sticks out or catches, so I either need a plain metal band (like in the OP), or possibly an eternity ring, or one where the stone is set into the band, or the band comes up flush with the stone.

I don't really have any idea what I want, but I'll know it when I see it.

Budget about £300 but very happy to spend less, or more if it's perfect. Absolute max prob about £700, but I simply can't imagine there is a ring in the world I love enough to spend £700 on.

There is no particular occasion. It's not an engagement or wedding ring. The diamond ring my dh gave me for my 21st birthday (that I never take off) has snapped and I want to replace it with something. I don't wear any other rings.

So yes, every day.

I have a white gold ring, channel set with princess cut diamons. Very practical and stunning like this, there are plenty about.

The one in the OP is nice enough but it'll date badly and be a nightmare to wear because of it's dirt gathering tenancies...

NieuweBuurvrouw · 03/06/2011 10:33

diamonds

Obviously also available in yellow gold, it's just that white suits my skin tone better.

allhailtheaubergine · 03/06/2011 10:34

The ring you link to is nice NieuweBuurvrouw but not something I feel excited about.

Am interested in the idea of a ring dating. What does that mean?

mmj - any website recommendations for smooth and plain?

Oh I don't think I give a stuff about what people think of my ring in 20 years time Grin.

Is that genuinely a consideration?? Gosh... there really is a whole world out there I know nothing of.

Trouble is, if the ring in the OP was definitely it, I never would have started this thread, would I? I'd just know and go for it.

I'm not keen on the star I think. Looks a bit religious.

I don't know.

I have a better idea of what I don't want.

I don't want anything too run of the mill.
I don't want anything fragile.
I don't want anything mass produced.
I don't want anything uncomfortable or impractical.

I would like something ethically produced or second hand. Nothing that makes me think of exploited child miners and diamond gang wars.

Maybe hand made or made by an artist who gets the profit from what she has made.

I like nature and leaves and birds and flowers and Woo.
I like middle eastern art.
I like things that are imperfect but lovely.
I like natural.
I like romance.
I like kitch - but kitch in a forever piece of jewelry rarely works.

I'm useless really. If I don't know how on earth do I expect Mumsnetters to help me.

Yes! That's gorgeous. Something like that. Gosh, it's expensive. I love the metal. Good find!

I am having a lovely time browsing that site.

OP posts:
OyOfMidWorld · 03/06/2011 11:03

Have you thought of designing your own? Have a look at this site. Some of her off the peg (so to speak) stuff may not suit you but she is a very talented designer and makes all her own jewellery. She takes commissions.

BelleEnd · 03/06/2011 11:04

This?

Perhaps?

Beautiful

BelleEnd · 03/06/2011 11:07

I wants it!

It's easier for me to tell you to browse notonthehightstreet.com
It's faaaaaab

barbie1 · 03/06/2011 11:08

Any thing here

silverfrog · 03/06/2011 11:09

I love this from the site tmmj linked to - not in rose gold, though.

but very reminiscent of my engagement ring design, would complement nicely - might have to hint at dh Grin
