I still haven't found a ring I love. How about this one?

The Promise Lattice ring (the hexagonal thick band with lattice and stars).

I do really like this one. I think.

allhailtheaubergine · 03/06/2011 17:11

Alright Juno. Calm down.

I bet its the same place I've been to Barbie. Somehow they didn't fill me with confidence.

Really? Thats a shame, i swear by it. I always go into the working area and watch what they are doing too. You will know if you have been, its the most busy place in the whole souk. I like that they give you the proper certification for the gems/diamonds and also guarantee the work.

allhailtheaubergine · 03/06/2011 17:36

Oh hang on - are you talking about the old gold souk? Or the Gold and Diamond Park next to MoE?

I like this www.alexmonroe.com/m5/Rings/p484/Wide-Bark-Ring-set-with-Tsavourite/product_info.html alex monroe one. I like big texture.

pointydog · 03/06/2011 17:38

Oh. Big link. I like it in silver.

TheMostBeautifulPoster · 03/06/2011 17:39

barbie1 · 03/06/2011 17:42

The new one next to M.O.E

barbie1 · 03/06/2011 17:44

Failing that Damas is pretty well recognized around here. Dh bought my diamond from them a few years back for about 3,600 gbp, It was set in london and valued around 12,500 gbp.

allhailtheaubergine · 03/06/2011 17:48

I like it too Pointy, but I don't think it would last well worn every day for years. It looks to me like a ring to wear occasionally and take off again when you're doing the housework.

pointydog · 03/06/2011 17:50

Fair point.

MmeLindor. · 03/06/2011 17:53

These two are nice.

Monica Vinader does not look like cheap tat, btw. I have the Candy stacking rings and was asked by posh friend if they were Bulgari.

I lied and said yes

allhailtheaubergine · 03/06/2011 18:21

Oh. OH! I have just found this lady. I LIKE her stuff.

Have you looked Etsy or Folksy? They're great sites for one off items, everything is handmade. Folksy is just a UK site, Etsy is international but many sellers will ship internationally.

I spent ages hunting for my wedding ring and eventually got one on Amazon. I wanted something simple but different. The best bit was I paid about £170 for it, but the valuation price was £350! I love a bargain :)

ggirl · 03/06/2011 19:20

farkin hula hoop is shit

BelleEnd · 03/06/2011 20:45

Ooooh pointydog! That one is bloody lovely!

toastandmarmiterocks · 03/06/2011 21:11

really annoying I can't link to the exact ring... but I have one from this girl tibetan princess open ring Mine is sliver with white sapphire and blue topaz.

tribpot · 03/06/2011 22:06

Am liking Lilia Nash, Aubergine. Yum yum.

MmeLindor. · 03/06/2011 22:49

love this style but without the names perhaps

Trying to think of something you could write on a ring that wouldn't be a bit bleaugh

Or just that style with diamonds. (out of price range but sure that you could find a goldsmith in UK who does similar)

pointydog · 04/06/2011 09:54

Blimey, they look cheap as with all that writing scratched into them.

pointydog · 04/06/2011 09:55

I love alex monroe's stuff but most of it is far too tiny and delicate for my broad, chunky frame.

tribpot · 04/06/2011 11:25

I agree with pointydog, if you wanted a ring like that you'd go to your Year 6 metalwork class and ask them to knock a few out.

allhailtheaubergine · 09/06/2011 09:33

Still haven't ordered anything.

You know what the problem is?

All my friends have a proper wedding and engagement ring. Proper traditional stuff. And some big rocks among them too. And Eternity rings. And special lovely rings they got for their 40th etc etc.

And I want to have a proper grown up ring like the big girls too. I REALLY do. 15 years, a wedding, two children and some good and bad times - I want a ring, damnit.

But I don't actually like those uber traditional wedding / engagement / eternity combos that you can get in every jewellery shop in every high street. They are lovely, but they're not me.

But then anything I do like I might as well spend £30 in Monsoon and have done. I can't seem to find something special that I like and that looks like it's a nice, real ring too.

It shouldn't matter whether other people know it's a real, proper, grown-up ring or not. It really shouldn't. But it does a bit.

Or another way of looking at it is, there is no point spending £300 on a ring that might as well be from Accessorize.
