I'm size 14/16, 5 foot 4. Longish dark hair. Like to hide arms and tummy. Not great legs but who cares about that? Early spring wedding - posh. What can I wear?

Mumsnut · 25/01/2011 14:37

Hire a Pearly Queen outfit.

MamaChocolat · 25/01/2011 14:43

My sister wore a long white dress to both mine and my brother's weddings, and never managed to upstage the bride. This is despite her being a stunning 5'10 size 10 and me and (ex)SiL beinmg 5'7' size14/16.

A bride is a bride. Nobody gives a toss about what anyone else wears to a wedding.

FauxFox · 25/01/2011 16:04

this??

lou33 · 25/01/2011 16:10

Go dressed as barney the dinosaur. Or wear a meat dress like lady gaga

Mumsnut · 25/01/2011 18:41

And maybe sneak one of these into the reception, with a wee veil on ...

A swan and a smile. No-one will notice your legs, tummy, etc...

MamaChocolat · 25/01/2011 19:41

BikeRunSki - don't worry. This will be an exception. It won;t be hard.

Are you very close to the groom? Close enough to be in loads of the photos? Cos if you are, forget trying to upstage her, the best thing to do is to dress like an embarrassing dog's dinner and ruin her photos. And persuade everyone you know to do the same. Grin

FellatioNelson · 25/01/2011 21:55

Ooh speaking of which, isn't it episode 2 of My big fat gypsy wedding tonight? Mine should be sky plussing. Can't wait! Now that should provide all the inspiration you need about upstaging the bride OP. Grin

How about the Mother of Bridge outfit on MBFGW...priceless. :)

QueenLaQueefer · 25/01/2011 22:42

How about a maxi dress?
This?

mathanxiety · 26/01/2011 02:36

Leopard print or fuchsia are always guaranteed attention and if you put the two together, you're bound to cause a stir.

CeliaFate · 26/01/2011 09:50

Does the dc's Mum have a name that you could work into your outfits, like Daisy or Ruby?

Failing that, this would make you stand out. Or any colour that clashes with the bridesmaids' dresses.

CeliaFate · 26/01/2011 09:51

Oh, and make sure your eyes are shut for every photo. Stand near to the bride and groom too so they can't crop it! [evil genius emoticon].

MamaChocolat · 26/01/2011 12:17

I love all you evil women. CeliaFate - might get those contact lenses that make you look like you have demon sheep eyes. Wathced gypsty wedding - bit scared of tall the battery packs. Might try a bit of the danicng the litle girls were doing though. With my leopard tprint ball gown and sheep eyes it will give the kids a reason to laugh instead of cry anyway.
