I'm size 14/16, 5 foot 4. Longish dark hair. Like to hide arms and tummy. Not great legs but who cares about that? Early spring wedding - posh. What can I wear?

OK. I have no principles. What's your budget?

Do you want full length? Or shorter?

Honeydragon · 25/01/2011 13:18

Tethers that's not true

You'd never wear spandex.

TrillianAstra · 25/01/2011 13:18

Drawing attention to yourself isn't going to be very useful for being supportive to whoever you want to be supportive to.

TrillianAstra · 25/01/2011 13:19

I do like the medieval fancy dress.

FranSanDisco · 25/01/2011 13:19

Don't go to the wedding. Sorted.

tethersend · 25/01/2011 13:19

Only in the privacy of my own home, Honey.

madammecholet · 25/01/2011 13:20

waves at MmeLindt & MamaChocolat altho, my name sadly comes from the wombles and not chocolate! :)

Take the teenage kids with you as your date, one on each arm, that should help...Wink

MamaChocolat · 25/01/2011 13:20

Calfs an ankles OK but thighs hefty so not too short. Just fab and glam.

Budget, Mama- focus!

WimpleOfTheBallet · 25/01/2011 13:22

A lovely white suit with a floppy seventies style hat, red lippy, charlies's Angels hair...

MadreInglese · 25/01/2011 13:22

or you could just wear a normal dress but make sure the back of it is tucked into your orange and turquoise polka dot big pants at all times, and bend over at every opportunity - should guarantee you more eyeball than the bride Grin

cornsilk · 25/01/2011 13:22

you want the teenage kids to outstage her as well - what are they wearing?

WimpleOfTheBallet · 25/01/2011 13:24

Like this

SiriusStar · 25/01/2011 13:25

Funeral Dress and black veil. Grin

madammecholet · 25/01/2011 13:25

Go in co-ordinating outfits to the kids...all bright vile green from head to toe.

MamaChocolat · 25/01/2011 13:26

oh yes - about £70 if I can wear it again or a bit more if it's really great. Love Wimples 70's Bianca Jag thing. And could hang the big pants out of the trousers.

KIds - not sure yet. the DD did ask if black with veil was too much.

OMG trillian I saw that programme, thats a perfect choice. Then get changed for the evening disco into cut off jean hotpants with your bum cheeks hanging out and a boob tube.

DingDongMerrilyAsCheese · 25/01/2011 13:28

ahh in that case...

I'll contribute by posting you the delish silk dress - very forgiving shape all sort of drapey.

A friend of mine had to do something similar and hired 'that hat' from Four Weddings and a Funeral, did the trick as that was all people talked about.

MmeLindt · 25/01/2011 13:28

Actually, coordinating outfits with the kids, is good. But subtly coordinating.

DingDongMerrilyAsCheese · 25/01/2011 13:29

duh! I meant the dresss I wore for my 1st wedding...

MrsGypsy · 25/01/2011 13:29

Whatever you wear, make it white. Preferably a dress, with cleavage. Then stand next to the bride as often as possible every time you see the photographer. Grin

tethersend · 25/01/2011 13:30

I'm not sure I can do 'upstage the bride at a v posh do' for £70 unless you're up for vintage?

ditzymare · 25/01/2011 13:30

wimple I love that.
