Need a great dress to upstage a bride

MamaChocolat · 25/01/2011 13:03

I'm size 14/16, 5 foot 4. Longish dark hair. Like to hide arms and tummy. Not great legs but who cares about that? Early spring wedding - posh. What can I wear?

How about this, in all seriousness, a great bargain:

biba dress

WimpleOfTheBallet · 25/01/2011 13:33

Lovely look isn't it ditzy...I always wanted it myself!

Honeydragon · 25/01/2011 13:35

this?

I think I have a code for a further 20% off too?

madammecholet · 25/01/2011 13:35

or here

madammecholet · 25/01/2011 13:37

Here with wimple's big hat idea?

cream jumpsuit

mrsgordonfreeman · 25/01/2011 13:48

Don't go.

It will only end badly if there's a monster bride involved.

Trust me on this.

MmeLindt · 25/01/2011 13:49

There were a few lovely dresses in the Bravissimo catalogue that I received today.

Love this with big hat.

Or this

WimpleOfTheBallet · 25/01/2011 13:51

:)

MadreInglese · 25/01/2011 13:56

Oh I LOVE that biba dress!!

Rannaldini · 25/01/2011 13:58

at 28 quid that js will not be good

don't go

madammecholet · 25/01/2011 14:02

Rannaldini I always think if the outfit is cheap, spend on the accessories to make it look expensive, and vice versa.

I would team jumpsuit with Tan heels/ tan clutch and lots of gold cuff/ and a tan fur wrap/shrug.

or tan snakeskin...
:)

MmeLindt · 25/01/2011 14:09

The black 1950s Bravissimo dress with an extravagant fascinator

or this

or Pill box with veil

MmeLindt · 25/01/2011 14:15

or this

MamaChocolat · 25/01/2011 14:16

Frankly £28 will be fine so if I accidentally get ahmmered and spill wine all over it Iwon;t cry.
But might go the fasinciating 50s route. Red lips and cocktails.

CameronCook · 25/01/2011 14:17

No fashion advice just want to know when the wedding is and request a report afterwards

MamaChocolat · 25/01/2011 14:20

Tehters - love that untold one. will report after second week of March.

MmeLindt · 25/01/2011 14:20

No, to the Biba dress. It is too much.

Think Mad Men, 1950s glamour. You have a curvy figure and long dark hair. Would look fab.

MamaChocolat · 25/01/2011 14:25

Mme Kindt - great name great advice. Thanks lovley ladies.

Butterbur · 25/01/2011 14:26

Did we get an answer about upstaging the bride? Are you her MIL to be? Wear your own wedding dress. That'll wind her up upstage her!

Mumsnut · 25/01/2011 14:28

Matching t-shirts with pictures of the kids' Mum on.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 25/01/2011 14:29

If anyone's interested, I bought the Biba dress in a size 10 and 12, which are out of stock online, but I got customer services to check stock in the branches and ended up ordering over the phone from Westfield.

Might be worth a try for those of you impressed with its sparkly and bargainous nature!

Cream/black lace?

MamaChocolat · 25/01/2011 14:35

Mumsnut - brilliant.
