vin Step away from the black dress! Your VWAs are much nicer Smile

milli Sorry I misread the bit about the tunics. So you won't need a makeover but sound pretty stylish already!

Had to go into work for 2 hours today for "emergency", i.e. a newsletter that needed to be written and sent out today as I have a day off tomorrow and my boss can't do it herself Hmm.

MarshaBrady · 16/01/2011 15:37

What will people wear to our venue choice?

I'm not sure if my original choice will be too partyish??

FritziGreenEyes · 16/01/2011 15:38

hells x-post re vin's black dress obsession Grin

Romanholiday · 16/01/2011 15:43

vin you could buy that dress and give it to me in a couple of weeks Grin

Yes, light grey banished from mine too, even though I like it.

I've been having a massive clear out of stuff from kids' rooms. Have put together 5 sacks of clothes, shoes and toys for local orphanage (having just found out that we have a local orphanage Blush).

Thanks for work on MOAM from me too Marsha and vin. Venue sounds good to me.

loobylu3 · 16/01/2011 15:49

Hello milli- you sound v stylish already! Have you tried high waisted trousers to hide your (probably v tiny) tummy?
There quite a few flared trouser/ jeans in the shops which might be flattering, especially as you are tall. Maybe paired with a cowl neck or pretty blouse.
I was thinking about some capri type trousers and maybe some flared trousers in light colours for the Summer but haven't really looked yet.

vin- if you have lots of black, maybe go for some colour this time. I bet you would look fabulous in red!
(Don't like the fist link btw).

marsha- would love to know what others are wearing too!

MarshaBrady · 16/01/2011 15:55

Thanks Hells! Smile

I will do my own hair and make up, but I don't do much so not too hard!

traceybath · 16/01/2011 16:12

Afternoon.

DT - love the LKBennett dresses and you'd look fab in them.

Horrid weather here and DS1 feeling very poorly so doubt he'll be at school tomorrow.

Goodness knows what I'll wear to meet-up - have people already planned that? I mean what will the weather be like then?

LetThemEatCake · 16/01/2011 16:24

good work on venue NY thanks for sorting that. Thanks too to marsha for all your research.

re what to wear, I'll think about it closer to time but I do think that with so many of us attending we can be as fab as we like - safety in glamorous numbers!! the rest of the venue/ clientele will pale into insignificance/ wish they'd tried harder Grin

what did you have planned re outfit marsha?

Once again today I am channelling Poor Man's 8Hells* in Zara Marant rip-off and jeans. Ash high tops rather than bikers though.

Have been at cinema post-park with dc today to see Animals United, was good! Quite moving actually Blush

cinema again tonight to see lovely CF in Kings Speech.

MarshaBrady · 16/01/2011 16:31

All my research came to nowt! Grump. Might buy myself a new dress for meet up to cheer myself up.

Was going to wear Paul & Joe silk dress.... Might do.

notyummy · 16/01/2011 16:37

Marsha- Imagine all the fun you could have trying out some of those elegant venues you found without the encumbrance of trying to book for loads of people with all sorts of wishlists and budgets. Research has never been so much fun Wink.

MarshaBrady · 16/01/2011 16:42

Besides the one we are going to I don't think I am tempted by a single venue in central London! I'm glad I know that now Grin

I tell thee the next meet up will be in a big park in the sun, no min spend, no seating arrangements just maxi chiffon wearers floating around with beautiful delightful children.

hellsbelles · 16/01/2011 17:08

Marsha & NY thanks for all your hard work on MOAMU!!! Fab.

LTEC Grin - we were A&W twins today almost. Was Miss P wearing her Owl dress? DD was!

Very jealous you get to see the kings speech tonight...I am desperate to see it. We never seem to get to the cinema and usually have to wait patiently for the DVD to come out.

Tracey - No plan on MOAMU outfit here yet. No where near sorted. And won't be till minute week before.

I am feeling absolutely shattered...carb fest at lunchtime has really had an effect...horrible.

cake DH took DD to see that film on New Year's Eve. It's actually a German film based on a book by a very well-known novelist. Enjoy CF tonight!

tracey I cannot bear to think about what to wear to meet-up as I always pick wrong outfits for the weather if planning too far ahead. March could be lovely spring or gale-force icy wind with snow! You'll never know. I just hope I don't resort to wearing black which doesn't really suit me but feels safe...

Have just ordered pizza to be delivered at seven.

Hmph, no CF for moi tonight. Sold out!!

OllieWollieWoo · 16/01/2011 17:44

I'm kinda hoping it is cold as my legs are, and never will be, in no fit state to be seen (pale with broken veins - gross!) Was planning outfit around opaques and shoeboots!Despite having lived in the centre of London for 3 years, I do feel a little bit like a country bumpkin coming to the big city! Hadn't a clue re venues - missed out on the cool bar thing - used to meet DH in the city for Friday night drinks or do restaurants. Seems a long time ago now.
I'm off to Shred - would much rather be sitting next to LTEC scoffing popcorn tho!

MarshaBrady · 16/01/2011 17:48

Thanks vin! Grin

When I used to go out I'd do that ironic dress down thing where you look like you haven't tried. But it was Shoreditch. The P&J is a dress dress. Good for parties. Hopefully ok for a hipster place.

LetThemEatCake · 16/01/2011 17:57

meant to reply to the lovely DT this morning to say that I think you'd look good in a sack but I generally tend (after years of experience!!) to now say no to 2 of the same in diff colours. Never ends up being worth it IME (apart from the tam Tam last year but that's bc I was bfing and heavier and had limited options!)

have been meaning also to ask you - how did your gorgeous full length reiss b'day dress go? what shoes did you end up wearing?

vin I think you would look gorgeous in that fab purple HH that fritzi linked to yesterday - prob a bit unstructured for your usual style but I imagine you'd make it look gorgeous by day with gold flats and then dress it up for night with a metallic heel

next meet up - daytime, high summer. BYO picnic food. Budget directed towards a magician/ puppet show or similar to keep dc entertained part of the time. Rest of the time, waftiness at its best. Wink

MarshaBrady · 16/01/2011 18:03

NY Ignore my pm! Dh prefers the one we are going to. Agony and deliberation ended!! Grin

yes to entertainer.

LetThemEatCake · 16/01/2011 18:03

another swallow scarf but from Oasis this time

hellsbelles · 16/01/2011 18:17

NY - meant to say - thanks for extra advice
for my dukanning friend...I think she's stopped now (!)...

mrsjuan · 16/01/2011 18:23

Evening everyone,
Just having a very quick catch up whilst dd watches itng. Split screen= genius idea cake. It will transform my life!
Thank you so much for feedback on hh. I think the riding up and slightly pregnant effect are caused by size of thighs Blush so will keep for now and assess if healthy eating and shred have any effect in a months time. Otherwise will eBay it. No point returning as can only get credit note for shop which is about 200 miles from me!

Have had lovely weekend with friends visiiting so no time for wisdom or avidity.

A massive thank you to marsha and ny for your mammoth meet up efforts. The venue looks perfect.

I am planning on getting into london at about 3pm so happy to meet up with anyone who fancies a quick coffee or shop before heading to hotel for beautifying.

Bath time calls, should be back later.

notyummy · 16/01/2011 18:25

hells - that was Vin i think re the Dukan. Not a veggie,so I couldn't really help....when I did the Attack I would have really struggled without salmon and prawns. You can have too many prawns though....
