What dress size are you?

Thanks.

I am aiming for 9stone 7 and will expect to be a 12 in some of the more generous shops (like M&S and Next) 14 in Top Shop. I am a comfortable size 14 at 10 and a half stone.

saucetastic · 18/09/2010 13:32

Back in the days when i wasn't constantly preg, i was 5'4" and roughly that weight and a size 12.

Why do you ask?

arsesandoldlace · 18/09/2010 13:34

I am that height and weight and am a 10 in most things, 8 in some, 12 in a few bits.

lollyheart · 18/09/2010 13:34

I'm on a diet at the mo and my aim is 9st 7.

Ive been looking at dresses for a xmas party.

Was wondering what dress size i could be Smile

I'm 5"3 and 10 stone and an uncomfortable size 12.

When I am 9 and a half stone I'm a more comfortable size 12.

To get into a 10 ( a real size 10 not a next size 10) I need to be under 9 stone... this is what I am aiming for by Christmas!

Good luck!

littlemissindecisive · 18/09/2010 13:46

Depends on your boobs Grin

I'm 9stone 7, 5ft4 but need size 14 tops and 12 bottoms

lollyheart · 18/09/2010 13:48

Well my boobs are huge Grin but i'm hoping they will shrink abit too. Grin

HI

I am 5ft 3 and weigh 9 stone 8 at the moment-would like to be 9st 4 but am tackling it at the moment.......however I have a nightmare with dresses as I have very slim legs and bum but a large chest-my top half is a 12/14 but my bottom half is a ten.No chance with dresses in general...sorry

purplepeony · 18/09/2010 13:52

Depends on your body shape. i am 5'3" and weight 8st and am size 10. I imagine that if i weighed another 2 stone I'd be more like a 16 and if 9st 7 then a 14.

Amanderrr · 18/09/2010 14:37

I'm 5'4" and was 9st 2lbs this morning.

I'm a very definite hourglass shape and need a size 12 to comfortably fit my boobs and hips. I normally find trousers and dresses in a size 12 gape on the waist but a 10 is often too small across the hips.

Wish I could lose another 5lbs but only from hips and boobs.

pebblejones · 18/09/2010 14:40

I'm 5'3" and 10 stone; I'm a size 12 everywhere, except Next Petite range, I'm a 14 in that.

Lauriefairycake · 18/09/2010 14:40

I'm 5ft and at that weight I would be a size 12.

It's been a while since I was that weight Grin

mrsjuan · 18/09/2010 14:42

I am 5'3" and 9st 7lb. Can be anything from an 8 to a 12. Generally choose a 10.

lucertola28 · 18/09/2010 14:45

I am 5'3" and weigh just under 7st7

I am an 8 on top or xs and for trousers and skirts depends on make half are 8 and half or 10

Depends maybe on body shape and bone structure too, I was few lbs lighter when I was in early 20s and was size 6 or 8 so I think your body shape changes as you get older

Also depends if your weight is muscle and well toned, you can lose inches without losing a huge amount of weight.

chibi · 18/09/2010 14:56

I am that weight but 4 inches taller

Somehow I am a 12 whilst shorter posters are 8 or 10

How does this work

I do not have a spectacularly large arse and am fairly in proportion

In some shops I am even a 14

?????

JaneS · 18/09/2010 15:03

Which shops do you want to shop in?

I'm 5'4 and when I'm 10st I'm a 14 in Karen Millen/Coast/Topshop but a 10 in East and Jigsaw.

ThingOne · 18/09/2010 15:05

I was a size 10-12 at this weight. I have very large and heavy thighs so maybe my top was smaller than most at this weight? Certainly my "normal" size 12 stuff was far too big.

ReneRusso · 18/09/2010 15:08

10 or 12

Fel1x · 18/09/2010 15:09

I'm 5'3 and 10 stone.
I am a 10 or a 12. Mostly a 10 , only a 12 in more fitted things tbh

FreakoidOrganisoid · 18/09/2010 15:21

I am 5'3" and whilst I have no idea what I weigh I am guessing it is around 46/47 kg as that seems to be my natural weight. I am a size 8, used to be able to wear a 6 but ribs and hips have got wider since having kids.

JillyCoopersJoyousOtter · 18/09/2010 15:27

Im that height and 9st 4lb. Im a size 10. I do have fair size boobs and bum though, and every thing else is tiny, so fit into a 10 comfortable. I think its probably to do with your general shape.

purplepeony · 18/09/2010 15:27

I am amazed at those of you who say you are 10 st and get into a 10!

I am 50 kgs ( just under 8 st) which is the heaviest I have ever been- used ot be 7st 7lbs. if I put on 2 stone I'd need a 14 or above.

Maybe it is all weight distribution? I am 32C bust, 29 waist and 35 hips. If my waist was any bigger I'd need a 12.

I've got slim legs and butt.

littlemissindecisive · 18/09/2010 15:32

Me too...when i was 10 stone i was definitely a 14.

mrsjuan · 18/09/2010 15:38

I think it depends on where you shop, weight distribution and muscle:fat ratio.

Just goes to show that weight isn't a great indicator of how you look (would still love to be half a stone lighter though)

youngblowfish · 18/09/2010 15:41

Chibi, it is vanity sizing. Certain retailers will have generous fits (M&S, Monsoon, Gap) others won't (Zara, Mango, Topshop) I even once heard it being advertised on QVC, when they claimed: 'Well, in some shops you may be a L or an XL, but here at QVC you have a pleasure of ordering a size S or M and enjoying a wonderful fit' Confused. Or something along those lines.

I think LittleRedDragon's response illustrates this practice quite nicely.
