I'm 5'3" and 9st 12 and am wearing size 12. At 10 stone 7 I was in a 14 although I did manage to get down to 9 stone 3 last Christmas and got into a size 10 Top Shop skinny jean! back on the diet I think...

Im 5ft 3 and weigh about 8.5st im usually a 12 on bottom, have wide hips
and 8-10 on top varies in different shops though so hard to tell :)

Think it depends on body shape and how and where you carry weight. I tend to put on weight all over so it gets evenly distributed! I am 5ft and just under 9 stone (yes, I am on a mission to shift a stone again) and am a 10/12. When I am back to my normal 8 stone, I am an 8/10.

Shops vary so much though. I fing Gap, Kew, Boden, M&S on the generous side. Topshop, Miss Selfridge I find smaller

I have been thinking about this and panicking that I have been squeezing myself into clothes that are too small but have checked wardrobe and decided it's definitely to to with weight distribution.

For example: my calves are a fairy big so must carry a couple of extra pounds there but calves don't make much difference to the fit of clothes (except skinny jeans which I don't really wear anyway).

I'm 5'4, about 10 stone, a size 10 on top, and 12 on bottom. A friend of mine who's about the same weight and slightly taller tried on my new coat, and it was v tight on her, so I conclude I must have a smallish frame. With childbearing hips!

I am still amazed that anyone weighing 9st-10 st can be a size 10.
I vary between 7.7lbs- 8st- am currently at upper end and I am a size 10,occasionally 8 top half. You must all have tiny waists and hips because that's where I put the weight.

Crikey if I was below 8st I would be absolutely skeletal, definitely a 6-8.

Like Habbibu I'm size 10 on top and 12 on the bottom - pretty much anywhere I shop.

(I favour Oasis, Warehouse, Topshop, H&M and Reiss for treats).

Size 14 is always too big.

Boobs are 30DD - carry most of my weight around my hips, bum and thighs.

Christ! - only a very occasional poster, but am just really suprised by the variation in sizing here... As per mrsjuan, am wondering if I indulge in vanity(?) sizing, as am 5'4", 8st3ish 32/26/35ish and generally buy size 6 top, 8 bottom. Wtf, how are you women half a stone lighter than me, yet 2 sizes larger? Surely it can't all be on the breasticles?

Maybe this why jeans shopping is always such a thoroughly depressing venture...

I'm 9st 7 but am 5ft 6. Gap = a 10 and skimpier shops = a 12. I've the figure of a teenage boy who has had kids. Am amazed that 3 inches smaller but same weight can get into a 6 or 8.

It is really bizarre reading this. I am REALLY heavy but must be quite dense (not like that).
I am 5ft and 10 stone and a 10-12. (defo a 12 in non stretchy jeans...) At 9 stone I was an 8-10.
At 8 stone I was an 6-8.

Maybe I just wear clothes that are too small for me?

I'd be easily into a 12 at 9'7. It'd be baggy in places.
I'd be a pretty standard 12 at 10 stone.

But I get the feeling I am smaller than most people my weight. I also have heavy thighs which don't matter in a dress :)

Unfortunately I'm currently a 12/14.

5ft 3, currently 9 stone 11. Big boobs so some of the weight is there! I'm a 10 in most shops for most things.

The last time I was 9'7" was about 8 years ago and at that point I was a 10 on the bottom and a 12 on top.

I am currently 10'10" and just bought some size 12 trousers from tesco. They are a bit big round the waist. I did need a size 14 in a dress though.

I'm 5 ft 3 and 10 stone. I'm currently on a diet because size 12s have become too tight and I'm having to venture into size 14s in some things. I've even got a size 16 dress from New Look that fits fine!

I'm hoping to lose another half a stone which should mean I'm comfortable in a 12. I carry weight on my stomach so I'd be unlikely to get in a 10 unless I was nearer 9 stone or under.

I'm 5"4 - probably just under 13 stone and a 12 is too tight in most and a 14 too big in others, so a 13 would be ideal! Totally bizzare and il no doubt have people telling me it's not possible but my scales and wardrobe would confirm - I'm very athletic in that I build muscle very easily, large thighs, strong shoulders, massive boobs, muscly big bum I sound a sight!

I weigh that and I would be swamped by a 14 - 12 bottom and ten top - I guess it just depends

Gosh, I'm astonished at the weights and sizes on this thread. I'm 5ft4in and 10stone10lbs and I'm a size 12. Not a vanity 12, just a 12, sometimes even a 10. I'm small chested and quite straight up and down. On the very odd occasion I compare weights with someone, they are usually astonished that they weigh less than me.

I must have really heavy bones!

Think it depends on shape and where you carry weight, plus I find I have to try all clothes on before I buy and each shops sizing is so different!
