Okay, the cat's out the bag (on MN if not in RL) - this is for my own v low-key wedding in 2 weeks.

Thank you so much to all who gave opinions on my original thread about choosing between 3 dresses.

Dress 3 was never in the running (deepdarkwood summed it up by saying I'd risk being mistaken for an overplumped cushion)

I made it even between Dress 1 which I still insist is navy and Dress 2 which is purple. 8 votes each.

I still really love both dresses but, with apologies to MaryQueenof Chocs and my fashion-advice friend Tethersend, I've decided to go with Dress 1..... ta da!! I took on board what Traceybath said about needing to feel va va voom Wink

So now, shoes - going by advice so far I'm wondering about nude or navy patent courts? I linked to some Clarks options but they didn't get much response so I'm assuming they weren't suitable (at least 2 had a strap across as I struggle to keep shoes on my feet). Am a size 39/40, wide flat feet, not used to heels, will be dealing with 2 toddlers.

Also, is there anything I can get to wear over the top? I would suggest a cardi but Tethers might faint. Anything though? We've got a registry office thing (only our parents and dc there), then afternoon tea in a nice hotel where DP & I will then stay the night, having dinner. So I thought maybe an extra layer for the afternoon bit so I can go to dinner with just the dress for maximum effect? It might be freezing given current weather conditions. I have no idea what to wear though.

Jewellery - bracelets? cuffs? I don't like gold but am thinking silver? I have a plain silver flat wide chain (no idea what the proper name is) that I'm wondering about as a necklace? Any better ideas?

Thank you very much. Since it's secret, I have noone else to talk to about it (except MIL who is a long way away - my mum not that interested)

Right choice, Norkily!

I didn't know it was for your wedding! Tsk. Dress one definitely better in that case.

Huge congratulations Smile

I will look for cover ups and shoes. When is it?

tethersend · 28/08/2010 10:54

Please don't wear a cardi

NorkilyChallenged · 28/08/2010 10:55

Hurrah, glad you approve! Yes, wasn't going to admit it was my wedding but frankly need to drum up some interest and get help Wink

Thank you Grin

lol, just saw cardi post Grin Grin

I get cold though, and cardis are so comfy. Need to dress it down a bit for the afternoon (not for ceremony or for the dinner, our first night together as just a couple since we had kids!)

Sorry, just saw your question, is on 9th. Gulp.

DP just decided he might want rings so am looking online in shock at the prices! Think he might go off the idea if I tell him how much it will add to the cost Grin

Ok I know these are ridiculous price but would look so lovely Wink

Yes do agree not a cardigan Shock Hotel will be warm so perhaps just a wrap but doubt you'll need one to be honest.

Russell & Bromley and LK Bennett are good for nude patent but will be over £100.

Pretty wrap or you could go for little faux fur shrug.

collision · 28/08/2010 12:00

Coast wrap that Tracey linked to is gorgeous!

and these silver sandals

traceybath · 28/08/2010 12:05

I have these in the purple and wear with a navy dress

Not sure about the navy strap ones from KG though.

NorkilyChallenged · 28/08/2010 12:06

Just posting this in the right place (I'm an idiot...)

Thanks Tracey, like that wrap though would probably dip in my cup of tea or something...

How are these? They have the strap across though, but a nice dark blue colour.

I'm not sure I like the ones you linked to but just as well given the price Am going to look in LK Bennett as Tethers also recommended - will try on and see if I can cram my ugly-sister feet into some cinderella shoes

Knew I'd seen patent mary-janes somewhere

NorkilyChallenged · 28/08/2010 12:07

Your links are lovely Tracey but I have manky toes that make me not want peep toe really...

I think the strap is okay under trousers but prob not with a shorter dress, I know.

NorkilyChallenged · 28/08/2010 12:07

Oooh those Kew ones actually quite nice. Is the t-bar okay with a dress?

OP posts:
traceybath · 28/08/2010 12:10

I think so - but would need to try on and see.

I find LK Bennett narrow and not terribly comfortable but I have small fat feet - oh yes - very attractive Wink

OllieWollieWoo · 28/08/2010 12:30

Saw these today and they look good - are they too high for you tho?

here

OllieWollieWoo · 28/08/2010 12:33

These are also navy and on the va va vroom side!

here

NorkilyChallenged · 28/08/2010 12:33

Tracey - I have large fat feet :)

OllieWollieWoo - they do look high but for that price am willing to try them on Wink

Developing a shortlist to go and try on next week, thanks everyone (quite excited now)

OllieWollieWoo · 28/08/2010 12:49

You could always just wear them for the ceremony/pics and find some others for later in the day that are more comfortable??? Smile.

I love wedding threads!

I'm really tempted by the satin ones myself - tho I can't walk in heels either! Would only be able to wear them if I know there was no walking and lots of sitting or propping up against a bar involved!

tethersend · 28/08/2010 13:03

These are lovely- can't decide whether the colour would go though...

yy to a fur wrap- something like this would work.

Crying child- be back later Wink

SoupDragon · 28/08/2010 13:12

If you have wide feet, don't bother with Lk Bennett.

NorkilyChallenged · 28/08/2010 16:25

Thank you all.

Tethers, I quite like the top shop ones too actually. And the Schuh ones second on your list. Not really keen on the others, sorry.

The fur thing was cute but wouldn't actually keep my arms warm! Thinking about the one Tracey linked to though.

traceybath · 28/08/2010 17:47

Right have been to m&s for dinner supplies and tripped over these and tried them on in the name of research.

They looked really nice and were comfortable on my short fat feet.

Would look good with the blue of the dress I think.

tethersend · 28/08/2010 18:00

I like those M&S ones tracey...

traceybath · 28/08/2010 18:01

And bargaintastic too Smile
