Okay, the cat's out the bag (on MN if not in RL) - this is for my own v low-key wedding in 2 weeks.

Thank you so much to all who gave opinions on my original thread about choosing between 3 dresses.

Dress 3 was never in the running (deepdarkwood summed it up by saying I'd risk being mistaken for an overplumped cushion)

I made it even between Dress 1 which I still insist is navy and Dress 2 which is purple. 8 votes each.

I still really love both dresses but, with apologies to MaryQueenof Chocs and my fashion-advice friend Tethersend, I've decided to go with Dress 1..... ta da!! I took on board what Traceybath said about needing to feel va va voom Wink

So now, shoes - going by advice so far I'm wondering about nude or navy patent courts? I linked to some Clarks options but they didn't get much response so I'm assuming they weren't suitable (at least 2 had a strap across as I struggle to keep shoes on my feet). Am a size 39/40, wide flat feet, not used to heels, will be dealing with 2 toddlers.

Also, is there anything I can get to wear over the top? I would suggest a cardi but Tethers might faint. Anything though? We've got a registry office thing (only our parents and dc there), then afternoon tea in a nice hotel where DP & I will then stay the night, having dinner. So I thought maybe an extra layer for the afternoon bit so I can go to dinner with just the dress for maximum effect? It might be freezing given current weather conditions. I have no idea what to wear though.

Jewellery - bracelets? cuffs? I don't like gold but am thinking silver? I have a plain silver flat wide chain (no idea what the proper name is) that I'm wondering about as a necklace? Any better ideas?

Thank you very much. Since it's secret, I have noone else to talk to about it (except MIL who is a long way away - my mum not that interested)

Thanks everyone. Am taking photo away now as feels a bit odd having it out there (even if a bit protected).

Also, this isn't the right place for it but don't feel able to venture into other areas of MN just yet. But we found out that there was an extra person at the wedding. Yep. That is what I mean.

Feeling bit odd about the whole thing but just rubbish at keeping it to myself!

I wondered for a minute if you meant some random stranger or stalker or something, but I think I now get where you are coming from. Smile

However you don't sound too happy so I hope it's not too bad. Feel free to chat about it with us, happy to help.

NorkilyChallenged · 17/09/2010 15:48

Thank you Smile

No not unhappy exactly but pretty stunned. Actually very stunned. But we are happy.

Means rethinking everything though. Included entire wardrobe of size 10/12 work dresses I have acquired in the last few months (sob)

And newly acquired patent high heels (sob again)

Oh good so now I can say congratulations Grin. You'll be back in that gorgeous dress in no time.

NorkilyChallenged · 17/09/2010 15:54

Thanks.

Has taken me over 2 years after dds 1 & 2 so who knows this time. Only just started feeling like myself clothes and confidence-wise.

That's all v trivial I know. But can't really think about all the rest of it so focusing on the shoes Wink

OP posts:
Themasterandmargaritas · 17/09/2010 15:58

No it's not trivial, I think the point is, is that you have done it before and got your confidence and size (you look fab) back so you can do it again. It doesn't matter if it takes slightly longer than you would like.

Besides, the third is always special. Grin

NorkilyChallenged · 17/09/2010 16:01

Oh thanks TMAM for sympathy - it's actually good to just say something. Feel guilty saying anything less than totally positive out loud.

I'm assuming the third will always be the laidback, easy sleeping, easy feeding, no-trouble kind of special. That's what you meant right?

I thought about posting elsewhere but don't actually know what I want to say. Should stop now though as definitely off-topic for S&B!

OP posts:
Themasterandmargaritas · 17/09/2010 16:25

Absolutely spot on. Grin

Don't worry, there's no one here but us. Wink

To be brutally honest I often look at number three and think, life would perhaps have been a lot easier with only the older two, but then he does something heart meltingly cute or says something very funny and I push the thought quickly away. Smile So I think (or hope) that it's quite normal to not be positive 100% of the time.

NorkilyChallenged · 17/09/2010 16:29

Oh that's a relief.

DH totally over the moon so feeling bad that I feel more mixed.

Three is the new two though, all the cool people are doing it apparently Grin

traceybath · 17/09/2010 16:31

Oh how lovely!

We had a littl surprise who is now DD aged 14 months and 3 is utterly fab.

And I gained less weight and lost that and more very quickly.

Congratulations!

NorkilyChallenged · 17/09/2010 17:31

Oh Tracey that's good to hear! Hurrah. Will feel more positive about it Grin

Hurrah - thank you. This has genuinely really cheered me up - think it's a weight off my mind to just have said it out loud.

When Dh gets in, will have a little celebration as we're off on holiday this weekend so we can enjoy some family time Smile

Huge congrats Norkily Smile Bet your dds will be over the moon. If it's any consolation, I lost weight much quicker with my second (at 38!) than I did my first (at 32). My best friend recently had her third dc (a girl-has 2 ds already)and it just seems so right iyswim. And what a wonderful blessing for your wedding Smile Not that I'm religious - but in a humanist way iyswim!
