Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Please join me ladies. Don't want to be too sad and lonely on a Friday night.......

No, don't do Twitter...can just about keep up with this!

notyummy · 27/07/2010 08:44

Morning all!

Blossoming - If anyone deserves a few treats then it is you! The story of how you coped with such a difficult and emotional situation was humbling and I am sure your DD knew how very much she was loved.

Oh - and I love the dress...

LTEC - Hope you manage a period of zen like calm today in preparation for the interview. (I know that may be hoping for a bit much!!)

Fel1x - Glad you liked the dresses.

EIE - I also had a dress fairly similar to the 80s one you linked to. I pestered my mum to buy it for me for AGES. I only wore it once (it was quite expensive as well and parents were not well off - what selfish little shits teenagers can be, eh?!)and then realised that it was a leetle bit naff.

Tracey - I know what you mean around visitors. We have quite a few coming up this month. In some ways I am really looking forward to it because as we have moved around so much, all our good friends are scattered over the country (and beyond!) from Switzerland to Scotland....via Bath and London. When people make the effort to come and see you (especially when they are travelling with kids) I really do appreciate it....but that doesnt mean it isn't tiring.

BTW - There is a 'how to wear animal print at any age' article in the Mail at the mo!

ABO - Lovely purchases. Have a great holiday.

Well, I had a delivery yesterday with mixed success:

This was very thin and nowwhere near as drapy as I was expecting. Clung viciously to everything - inc indent! Will return.

These unfortunately look NOTHING like the picture on me!! They are really tight on my lower leg/calves and then flare out at the top (I know thats the point with harems...) however the flare is reminisent of old fashioned jodphurs/WW 2 German army officer. Not a good look and will be returned.

These however are great. Although I hadnt realised that they are not leather, so not exactly top quality.... That said, I am not sure how long the cloggy thing will last for, so spending LOADS of money on a pair may not be wise anyway. They are very easy to wear and comfy. They do make me feel tall though!

LTEC (My fellow tall one - there must be others on this thread??)- Do you wear 3/4 inch heels on occasion without feeling overly tall? Sometimes I can, but my DH gets a bit shifty about it when I am out with him, as it means I am taller then him!

Have a great day everyone.

traceybath · 27/07/2010 09:21

Don't know why I did a random after Bluewater [going mad emoticon]

Right must go to football and then food shopping and boots. Oh the glamour.

I'm still coveting a mongolian gilet but am aware that stuff would not combine well with dribbly DD.

bunnymother · 27/07/2010 09:45

Dolce - Anusha do lovely dresses. Something there?

carciofi · 27/07/2010 09:49

LTEC, best of luck with the interview.

Notyummy, I am 5'9" and do wear high heels when we go out. My dh is still taller.

Blossoming, agree you deserve the nice little things in life without feeling guilty. Sorry you and your dd had such an awful time.

Libra, I'm really liking all those Oushka bags.

Bunny, shame about your Australia trip. I hope your pregnancy goes well, I am sure the consultant will keep a good eye on you.

I am making a list for winter, pink DKNY cozy, Belstaff boots, Alexa bag (will be quite a while saving for all these, perhaps will wait for Christmas sale!), cream cashmere sweater, and I ordered a couple of things from Boden but not ditsy/dotty print!

Rufus, that wedding sounds like it will be très chic. Going to Howth for the last two weeks in August so look out for a red-faced woman pushing a shouty toddler up the hill!

AB have a great holiday.

MM, how are you doing this week?

Off to the gym now.

DolceeBanana · 27/07/2010 10:08

oh love gilets too Tracey!

Talking of dribbly - DD screeching most days at the moment.... Combination of teething i think,(although already has 8 teeth), and sep anx...she's very mobile in a rolling/scooting way...not crawling properly, and is even trying to stand up in the middle of the room...bizarre! But tried everything and v screamy, so really not able to get on with anything. Have had to let her cry a bit this am as she's exhausted but feel crap!

I'm going to do online food shop and have friend with DCs over this pm...extent to our day today!

Plus, major pmt too! And in unfortunate position as always got periods within one month of childbirth despite bfeeding! Lucky me!

rufus101 · 27/07/2010 10:51

Gosh Carciofi your DH must be really tall!
Really looking forward to wedding. Have only one other friend who is married (!) so had given up all hopes of "a good dayout"!
Keep an eye for for me! Mutton dressed 40 something desperately trying to marshal 3 wild DC in Mauds ice cream parlor!
Love those boots NY.
Saw a love Michael Kors purple bag on the outnet. Will link later. Unfortunately do not have the iPhone skills of NY!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 27/07/2010 12:09

rufus I know the 2 you mean on outnet as have been eyeing up, only problem for me is I saw a MK bag in House of Fraser yesterday and the gold is quite bling.

dolcee sorry to hear about the teething woes, I wish I had some sage advice but we were lucky on the teething front and any sign of whinging and we just whipped out the calpol! what's your budget for this dress you need?

notyummy I am 5'9-10, I could wear heels as DH is 6'5" but gave up after DS as I never wore them just bought and then admired them.

tracey I love wandering around Boots unaccompanied so it may not seem glamourous but I am . You are supposed to be talking me OUT of the bag....

carciofi which belstaff boots are you eying up?

blossoming · 27/07/2010 12:12

At the zoo. Suitably attired.

traceybath · 27/07/2010 12:20

Libra - still had youngest 2 dc's with me so browsing was strictly limited.

God - I'd forgotten how horrid periods are - have dreadful stomach ache.

Oh yes carciofi - which Belstaffs - I did see some nice mid-calf ones in Libertys but haven't seen them online yet.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 27/07/2010 12:27

tracey not sure if you have tried this but I used to take buscopan (along with paracetamol) for period pains and it worked wonders.

carciofi · 27/07/2010 12:30

I really like these boots.

Rufus, I will call in to Maud's specially! I am sure I will be spending a lot of time feeding the seals, dd was crazy about them last time.

notyummy · 27/07/2010 12:35

Nice, Carcofi - but £££. Having said that, quite classic so potentially years of wear.

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 27/07/2010 12:57

hi all

quick post while the dc have lunch

thanks for the good thoughts, interview tomorrow, will let you know how it goes

have new hair which made baby L cry and clinghysterically to his father and P said "mama, your hair looks silly"

so that bodes well

NY yes I do wear heels frequently, tallest are 4 inches I think. DH is just over 6ft so makes me a bit taller than him but hey ho. He's not bothered, the more so as they are 'dinner shoes" (ie I can't really walk in them) so we are the same height sitting down.

have any of you seen the Bianca Jagger styley jumpsuit linked to another thread? "tis lovely - yummy it may be a suitable contender as alternative to harems?? here at Wallis

carciofi · 27/07/2010 13:12

NY, by the time I get the money together for them, I am sure I will want something else!

AllBuggiedOut · 27/07/2010 13:16

Bag is lovely Libra

And the jumpsuit is fab LTEC. I usually forget to check out other threads, but did find myself drawn to the wedding frock one the other day, and did like yours LTEC

AllBuggiedOut · 27/07/2010 13:19

Oh and LTEC did I miss your decision about the All Saints skirt? Saw it on Sunday and it is teeny tiny but gorgeous

DolceeBanana · 27/07/2010 13:49

Cake - what style have you gone for...must be quite different? Kids don't like change do they? Any luck on bag front?

And, I know I said I couldn't get head around green/tan but I think you do have great taste and will look amazing! I felt a bit mean afterwards...I was being genuine, but then thought about it, and wished I'd kept stumm, as it wasn't like you'd asked about that combo!...so apologies!

Sent DH an email this morning of a gorgeous Armani shift dress...caption - 'what about this for the wedding?'....no such luck methinks....anyway, Libra, budget max about £300 plus shoes, bag etc.....

Sorry you feel rubbish Tracey - I'm dosed up on paracetamol...kids being particularly noisy and whingy today and feel like curling up with hot water bottle....feel a bit chilly...where's that bloomin' sunshine!

traceybath · 27/07/2010 14:05

Carciofi - I love those boots and am still cross that they were heavily reduced on the US site but didn't go in the UK sale.

Libra - I'll try that stuff - over 3 years with no periods has spoilt me really.

Right - little bit of quiet time so will do a little retail browsing.

LTEC - whats your hair like? I like that jumpsuit and can imagine you looking fab-u-lous in it.

Where is Vin?

LetThemEatCake · 27/07/2010 14:20

dolce not at all, don't be daft. I'm rubbish at accurately describing colours, perhaps it's more lime and chocolate? but not dark chocolate? bah, who knows. It looks okay. I'm keeping a clothes journal in photos for a week for my blog so when I post it you may judge for yourself!!

Hair is long Cleopatra - heavy fringe etc.

abo thanks re wedding dress . Holding off on All Saints skirt for the mo until i see it in RL. Teeny you say? hmm. Well, with no summer holiday this year maybe no point

tracey and Dolce sorry you feel rubbish

am loving your wishlisting carciofi! and your email dolce - fingers crossed!

LetThemEatCake · 27/07/2010 14:21

hope you are having good day at the zoo bloss!!

notyummy · 27/07/2010 14:26

ooh, LTEC - I am off to the hairdressers on Thursday for a cut and am thinking of a fringe. Am having a consultation first with the stylist.

Honestly, you would have thought it was surgery - i am so tense!

Just hope DD is slightly kinder with me!!

Like the jumpsuit by the way - very elegant. The thing is, I had hoped that the harems would work for work as well as leisure...and the jumpsuit could look a tad overdressed (or under...) dressed for the office

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 27/07/2010 14:38

lol ny . Okay, not the jumpsuit.

see, I've had this style before so i know it's ok when my face is thinner - but grew it out for late preg/ post partum last year (chubby cheeks and fringe no good)

they all seem to love me again today ... i did come home at bedtime which is never their finest hour

now. What was that hula hoops party game??

notyummy · 27/07/2010 14:47

Hula hoops - yes!

Take 2 long pieces of string/wool.

Thread 3/4/5 packets of hula hoops on to the string - roughly equal numbers on each string.

Divide kids up into two 'teams' (we did boys and girls - and the girls easily beat the boys!)

Get another adult to help and hold the strings up at 4 year old head height. No hands allowed - hand behind their back! Which ever team eats the hula hoops first are the winners. Ready, steady, GO.

They all really enjoyed it - I think it was the 'naughty' frisson of speed eating crisps!! I did it outside and the birds ate all the debris that fell to the ground - and DD, whom I found in the back ground eating the left overs after all her friends had gone

OP posts:
DolceeBanana · 27/07/2010 14:50

Oh good Cake..... Honestly, I am such a worrier! I so hate to think I've upset someone...Now, lime and chocolate sound delicious! Whatever....!

Cleopatra sounds good....nice chunky fringe...good!

Delusional on dress I think...he asked me if I'd been on some funny pills!!!? Sadly....

Off to have huge illy to keep me awake!

Oh, saw some fab Kurt Geiger steep peep toe shoes in black suede with little bow on Liberty website....guess what I've been doing?

Just ordered school uniform stuff that I haven't ordered through school...£££s ...!!!
Cannot believe my baby is going to school ...mind you, he's ready for it!!!!

Catch you later...!
