Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Another quick message while pedi is drying...

Papillon on Marylebone Lane just off marylebone high st has the most beautiful (and, admittedly, v expensive) shoes. But that's where I bought DD's shoes. Only shop I really liked.

PlumSykes · 27/07/2010 18:10

Afternoon all,

I've been school uniform buying today too. Alreday got most of it, but have to get the hugely expensive swimming costume from the uniform shop at school, and then went on hunt for shoes that are non-patent, no bows, no flowers, no contrast stitching, no embelishments of any kind. Almost impossible, especially given that DD has a high instep which means than most Mary-Jane styles are no good. I tried 2 independent shops with no luck, then hauled us all into John Lewis, where there was a choice of one style. Luckily they fitted, but now home have noticed a scuff on the back of one, so will have to take them back. Grrrr!

bunny, I walked past Papillon last time I was in London, on my way to VV Rouleaux. Dreamy shoes-probably for the best that DD was not with me!

Today am wearing nude ballet pumps, stone chinos, black washed silk cami and a cropped black canvas blazer. All very subdued, colour-wise for me, though did lift it with a scarlet bag with navy/red/white striped scarf corsage from the fabulously named Lie Down I Think I Love You. Oh, and too much red lippy as usual!

blossoming · 27/07/2010 18:23

Hi everyone!
Like those Belstaffs too carciofi, how discriminatory that they were not in the sale here. Who can we complain too?!
Meant to say before dolcee, 8stone!! Please tell me you're 4 ft 6?
Fringe sounds great ltec. You made me think of chocolate limes, my all time favourite sweet! Best of luck tomorrow!
notyummy or libra: jumping lunges as in Shred 3. What area is benefitting here?

I need fly replacements for a/w. Problem is, fly are great over the rough terrain I go over on school run.

I was only just warm enough today and I took soup for lunch! Then all of a sudden after lunch we rounded a corner and the sun came out. Yup, boiling!
Saw the most adorable baby elephant!

AllBuggiedOut · 27/07/2010 18:23

The hula-hoops game sounds great notyummy! Am in the market for good kids games for DS1's 7th birthday and DS2's 5th which are shortly after we get back from holls. Spy or American themed would be good if anybody has ideas?!

The All Saints skirt is deffo too short for me LTEC, but then I am too short for any kind of over-leggings arrangement. The skirt weighs a ton too, but does feel gorgeous!

Very exciting about the hair notyummy

Hope you're feeling better tracey & Dolce

Did the animals like your scarf bloss

Which shops should I look out for in the US please? We're in Florida for a couple of weeks (Naples) and mum & I have warned the men that we intend to leave them with the boys one day and find a mall. Have never been to the States before so any advice welcome, thanks!

AllBuggiedOut · 27/07/2010 18:27

I find the jumping lunges really hard bloss - as Jillian would no doubt say my upper thighs are screaming! It's definitely tops of legs and round glutes that I feel it. Have done a quick google and found this which is a bit more scientific than what I just said!

rufus101 · 27/07/2010 18:31

Plum outfit sounds very stylish, and I'm drooling over the bags. TKMaxx is great for getting Papillon shoes, can often pick up a bargain.
Carciofi have you seen these Belstaff? I don't know your size, but they have them in brown also. Slightly less spendy.
Now help me decide these or these? I don't know if the first ones are so orangey in RL.
Your hair sounds fabulous LTEC, you'll knock em dead tomorrow in the interview.
My nanny has handed in her notice, so I am on the look out once more. They only seem to have a life span of 12 months. Can't stand going through the CVs, and talking to and interviewing. The agencies charge way too much (about 3000 to 4000 euro) and I know from experience that I'll be getting the same ones if I advertise myself. They don't check them too thoroughly anyway as far as I can see. They have never got in touch with me about anyone who worked for me, which I find beggars belief!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 27/07/2010 19:16

blossoming quickly as making supper but jumping lunges are an amazing plyometric exercise which basically targets most of the main muscles in the legs i.e. glutes, quads, hams and calves. However it is quite an advanced and intense exercise and you should be very careful that your form is correct as it can cause knee problems. The link Allbuggiedout found is a fantastic give that a read.

Will be back after supper to read posts properly. (rufus prefer second boots)

notyummy · 27/07/2010 19:18

Rufus - I prefer the second of the two boots

Blossoming - The jumping lunges work mainly hamstrings (back of thighs) and glutes (arse!). Also a bit of quads at front of thigh and claves. Because you are jumping they are also providing aerobic work.

They are a killer aren't they?!

vinovino · 27/07/2010 19:39

Hello everyone it's vin here

I de-regged.. long story..can I come back?

How are you all! I haven't caught up I think I must have missed about 10 threads but camel capes are often really rather wise (would last for years non?)

I had a major relationship bust-up found out P had had an affair, all very messy, found lots of emails, etc, so RL took over somewhat

However I have just recovered my shopping mojo, having not spent a single penny in a month or more I was a bit too avid in covent garden at the weekend I mean, why buy one trench when you can buy two and 2 handbags and 6 tops and 2 dresses and 3 pairs of trousers!??
ehem..

shred dvd still in packaging....

oh and how did I miss meet up and Gok!???

vinovino · 27/07/2010 19:45

PS I have missed you all

good news- have been offered promotion/rise at work!

bad news- I have to go back really soon and no childcare!

good news- relationship crisis facilitated easy weight loss

bad news- now I've calmed down I'm scoffing too much again

and I have a 15% off single use banana republic/gap voucher email if anyone wants it..

traceybath · 27/07/2010 19:46

Vin - you've been much missed and we've been quite worried about you.

Oh dear about the affair - are you working through it or are you calling an end to the relationship? I hope you're getting lots of support from friends and family.

On a lighter note - sounds like a good shopping trip - any links for us to coo over?

rufus101 · 27/07/2010 19:50

VINOVINO how awful for you. Can't believe you've been through all that. You sound so rational and calm and together. Hope you're coming out the other side and retail is salving some of the wounds. (Hope it's P's credit card you're whalloping)

vinovino · 27/07/2010 19:54

I'm sorry I've been so awol

I did have a pretty rough time. I was just so shocked, you know, after nearly 5 years or so..and the timing of his affair was appalling (mostly when DD was ill) We split up but he is now back here- I moved out and then came back because he said he was moving to his other house but then he turned up again and I'm not entirely happy about that arrangement, feeling a bit doormat-esque it's definitely ended it but we are currently co-existing, all a bit odd. Need retail therapy no links but will work on that more shopping hurrah!

carciofi · 27/07/2010 19:56

Vin hope you are ok.

Blossoming and Tracey, I think we should have a word with Ms. Massenet.

Rufus, I prefer the second boots. Thanks for the link. I don't have £270 either unfortunately so they will have to remain on the wishlist for quite some time! Bummer about the nanny, hope you find someone great soon.

vinovino · 27/07/2010 19:57

sadly it's my card, dammit! sssh may have accidentally bought some new jeans online with his though

traceybath · 27/07/2010 20:06

Vin - without wishing to speak out of turn he sounds an utter plonker and I always got the impression he was not very kind to you.

And you are amazing you know - you've overcome so much and he's an idiot if he doesn't realise how wonderful you are.

Do you know I've lost my shopping mojo I think - I haven't even been tempted by anything for at least a week

DolceeBanana · 27/07/2010 20:10

Hi vin

Welcome back...and sorry to hear about the trials of the last month or so...you sound resolute so that's good...You are amazing! You sound like you handle things, a coper, so you know you will be fine... Bas*ard, though (sorry!)!Well done on promotion!

Bloss - am only 5' 4, with small frame, so 8 stone 2, to be exact, is slim but not de trop if you see what I mean.

A very trying day today....tomorrow we are going to DHs work where I shall dump leave children with him for a bit (girls in the office love to see them!), and pop into Clifton, then lunch somewhere hopefully! Then maybe short hop into Cribbs for desperate quick retail therapy hit...with 3 in tow!

traceybath · 27/07/2010 20:14

Vin - loving your good news/bad news

I must confess weight loss is always my silver lining to anything stressful/horrible happening.

Well done on promotion - and obviously you'll be doing this but do get some good advice on the financial side of your split. You're legal aren't you or having I imagined that?

vinovino · 27/07/2010 20:17

In a peculiar way I am quite pleased I have found out now so I don't waste any more emotional time on him. He really has been awful and at least I now know it's properly over (he seems to think he should be forgiven)

I'd better go DS is trying to eat coins

dolcee I lived in clifton for a while, lovely

tracey! I saw some great leopard print the other day, will try and remember where, I thought of you!!

bunnymother · 27/07/2010 20:19

Rufus - I like the first brown pair - more my kind of rich tobacco colour. What - I can get Papillon at less than £55 per pair?! Thank you!!! And, trust me, DH thanks you!

Vin - I am so very sorry to read this, not to mention really bloody angry for you! Tracey is right - he sounds an utter plonker (when your DD was ill?!?!), and frankly, what would really really make me mad is that it didn't even sound like you thought he was right for you. Hope you have agreed an end date to this co-existing? He needs a hard date to be out by. Oh you poor love, what a horrible thing to be going through. Sending you a big un-MN hug, but backing it up with an oh so big glass of wine and a box of luxe chocolates. And perhaps a long foot rub from a tasty piece of man. Tracey is right - you are so accomplished and together and lovely that it truly is his loss (not that I care about his perspective). Congratulations on promotion, though!! If you are in London and looking for a nanny, I can ask our nanny (she is Filipino and knows many many nannies - she has a network!) if she can recommend anyone.

bunnymother · 27/07/2010 20:22

Dolce - oh dear, your DCs do sound to be a bit trying at the moment. Can you just imagine the spring in your step as you skip out of DH's office leaving them behind for a few hours?!

Vin - yes, I can see how you could feel glad to have resolution to a situation that sounded destructive (am it too Dr Phil to say "toxic"? Think so). Thinks he should be forgiven?

hf128219 · 27/07/2010 20:31

Vino Oh your poor, poor girl. How utterly dreadful for you. But you sound strong. Thinking of you.

hf128219 · 27/07/2010 20:36

Obviously meant to say you poor girl. Sorry.

I am not thinking straight this week at all.

FritziGreenEyes · 27/07/2010 20:38

Oh, vin so sorry to hear these news but glad you are back. We missed you!

After another six hour train ride I'm back from my work trip and pleased to report that I felt fab in the clothes I had packed. Even managed to squeeze in half an hour on the beach during lunchtime break yesterday!

Now will catch up on link and click on all your lovely links.

rufus101 · 27/07/2010 20:50

Thanks for the feedback on the boots everyone. The voting seems to be for the weathered looking pair.
Gosh VIN it's hard to believe he actually thinks you could forgive him and take him back. I'm incredulous. Glad to see you're fighting back on all fronts. You go girl! (Best American accent!)
