Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Please join me ladies. Don't want to be too sad and lonely on a Friday night.......

OP posts:
bunnymother · 04/08/2010 13:43

OWW - oh no, poor little thing!

LetThemEatCake · 04/08/2010 13:43

No kidding. If I were hells' dh I'd spoil her rotten too. Lucky, lucky man

OllieWollieWoo · 04/08/2010 13:44

Wow hells - I think I have a little bit of a crush on you! Gorgeous!

hellsbelles · 04/08/2010 13:46

err - hold on! As much as I love compliments...here's the truth. There is one nice photo. most flattering ever probably. I have a great tan, I have dukaned (so slimmer than I have been for ages). And my fat nose is not shown in all it's glory (trick of the light!).

So please don't oversell me or I'll be too ashamed to show up (in non-tanned, big nose styley) at the meet up.

monkeysmama · 04/08/2010 13:47

I haven't got time to read but it's made me incredibly happy to see you debating me being a sexy beast / exuding sex appeal.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 04/08/2010 13:56

Also. Who was it who wanted the Body Shop lip and cheek stain freebie in rose pink as I have one and won't use it so happy to send. email alcopop100@ hotmail com

LetThemEatCake · 04/08/2010 13:59

sorry to barge in (although hells might thank me for deflecting attention from her gorgeousness) but dh just phoned. JO dates changed. Hol might go ahead after all.

I do love my dh and am proud of his career but it's the inconsistency that does my head in.

monkeysmama · 04/08/2010 14:00

Hells yes it was the pink Bloch pumps that have damaged my feet. My heels are all sore and bleeding and I only wore then to the park. On the animal print front - I am probably not the best person to advise as I'd happily wear it head to toe. However, I do like the coat but agree it's pretty ££££ for fake fur. D&G and Moschino are the Gods of animal print though. Tracey is another animal print lover and I think she is a lot more stylish with it than me (I have a pair of leopard print velvet trousers in my wardrobe ) I might have to find you on FB too.

MrsJuan I would love someone to call me a powerful beast. LOL.

Thanks for all your nice comments about the work offer. Dp was a bit nothingy about it once I'd decided not to do it (mum away, best mate away etc) but you've all made me feel quite proud.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 04/08/2010 14:03

Big woohoo LTEC, better get the Tibi just in case (there is always next year if you love it)

mrsjuan · 04/08/2010 14:09

Woohoo cake! I hope you get your holiday - sounds like you could do with it.

MM I will refer to you as a powerful beast from now on if that will make you happy!

Am petrified of any future meet up now seeing how skinny you all are Hells - sorry to keep on but you really do look stunning. Think dukaning is on my agenda now.

Right - am meant to be working while DD has nap but have written about 4 sentences. Better go.

traceybath · 04/08/2010 14:15

I seem to have become a manual labourer. Just dismantled a sofa and dragged/pulled/carried it from living room to playroom. Am now covered in cobwebs from bottom of sofa - yuk.

But now have a big gap in front of window in living room. DH keen for us to get a leather chair and foot stool to fill gap but that'll be £2k! Which as we've just bought DH's tres expensive bike - can not really justify.

All this though is to maximise usage of play room and leave sitting room tidy in the day and child-free as much as possible. Yes ladies - I have become my mother.

Loving Bunny's comments and MrsJ's mis-reading

I'm traceybath on twitter but don't tweet very much really - am more of a follower

I too suffer from the dreaded spider veins. Don't mind doing short skirts in winter with opaques but not so keen with bare legs.

LTEC - that tibi dress is lovely so fingers crossed you get to wear it in tuscany Isn't JO's wife due her baby soon - surely he'll take a bit of time off for that.

I don't think I have body dysmorphia more body envy of others who are slimmer than me. Sat next to immensely skinny mum at swimming today and felt like a total hippo next to her. Especially as I'd got soaked in rain so had white shirt clinging in most unbecoming fashion.

Hope Eshers having a lovely holiday.

MM - think I'm going to Briston on saturday to get eyebrows threaded and will go and have a look at leather jackets in All Saints.

monkeysmama · 04/08/2010 14:18

Great news Cakey!

MrsJuan I am more than happy to be the sexy beast of our thread. Share your first initial if you don't mind and I'll add you as a friend too. I am not thin btw. I'm not fat either but you can tell I've had a baby!

Bunny I am often taken aback by your skills at reading situations. There are a few times you've written things about emotions I've been very impressed with. I am not sure I'm that sexy anymore but I am pretty comfortable in my own skin and I think that some women find that threatening sadly.

monkeysmama · 04/08/2010 14:20

Oh great Tracey - I will wait with bated breath to hear if it is as nice as I hope. And I am sorry but the wet shirt thing had me laughing out loud . That's the kind of thing that always happens to me.

traceybath · 04/08/2010 14:28

I did wonder why a couple of dads kept smiling in my direction - I thought they were admiring my parenting skills with Bea and Arthur

Right - what have been your worst buys for this spring/summer. Mine have been the jigsaw cowl necked red stripey top and navy dress. I don't like where the arms finish and the dress requires a belt and just does nothing for me. Both are being donated to my sister who will suit them far more.

Also am chucking a way a load of h&m/new look vest tops that have lost their shape and got twisted seams.

So what has been your worst buy?

bunnymother · 04/08/2010 14:31

MM - not sure you are sexy anymore? What?! If Helen Mirren, Charlotte Rampling, Sophia Loren et all (all quite mature ladies, and the latter two have had babies) are consistently getting men hot under the collar, I would bet you sure are, too. Like I said, you either have it or you don't, and its separate to youth or beauty (not that you don't have that, too!!! Just in case you were thinking that it may have slipped away). And I thank you for the compliment on my "emotional intelligence" (ah, Dr Phil, did you hear that?!).

bunnymother · 04/08/2010 14:33

Tracey - wet shirt, oh dear, you would have been a v welcome sight!

My worst buy was an Alannah Hill silk top that does not suit me due to both the colouring and the style. Depressing. Will have to ebay it.

MarshaBrady · 04/08/2010 14:34

The red suede shoes in an 8 not a 7 as I can't actually walk without them slipping off. Although seems to stop being a problem after a glass of wine ot two .

Best buy (we've done this I think) but am changing to navy V Bruno ankle boots.

florenceuk · 04/08/2010 14:36

Just popping in to say congrats on job/babies (twins!)/job offers - and success in dukaning/shredding etc.

Now a confession - I am very podgy ATM, so much so that trying on swimsuits makes me cry. (I'm 158cm and 50kg/8 stone so not horribly overweight, just very flabby). So I'm not sure I've got the right qualifications to be on here in any meaningful sense, you all seem so slim and fit! Luckily I am going to be holidaying in Cornwall where fleeces and wetsuits are desirable beach attire. Not sure what the best way to reduce this podge round my middle (which DS commented on this morning - thanks!) - if you had limited time and energy would any of you recommend the plank? Is this OK if you still have a slight diastasis? Or should I just stick to regularly sucking my stomach in a la Tulper exercises until it firms up a bit?

Despite this, I have been spending lots recently - have into Zara who have lots of nice new season stuff - all cream/beige/flowery - bought a flowery blouse and a rather nice silk tee with little layered tiers on the front - perfect for work. Bought grey skinnies at the Trilogy sale (Anlo) and about 4 t-shirt tops at Jigsaw (their very thin ones seem perfect for summer). Plus the obligatory Boden preview buy of two tees and a boyfriend jacket (not sure if the latter will fit as haven't had a chance to try it on yet). And I recently won this at auction here. It is actually a camel/beige colour (not stone) in real life which, while I was expecting someting lighter, should be perfect for autumn.

carciofi · 04/08/2010 14:37

LTEC, I sent you an email.

Worst buy is a stripey French Connection dress, it just doesn't look right on me. I must ebay it.

I like the leopard print jacket Hells, but I'd prefer it with long sleeves. I'd wear it with jeans or skinny black trousers.

Continuing with the leopard print, these Boden shoes are actually very nice and seem quite comfy but too big for me.

Libra, I like the Boden bag. I would be nervous of using a leather bag for dd, my Skip Hop bag gets filthy so I'd fear for my Mulberry!

Thunder and lashing rain here!

DolceeBanana · 04/08/2010 14:39

Fab to hear that your well-deserved holiday might be going ahead after all Cake! Get the dress, get the dress....! Oh, have requested you on fb again - if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, I say...my friends only seem to converse on there so it's easier!

wet here too after swimming! Well not because I went swimming, oh no, just got soaked through in the downpour whilst hoiking kids from building to car! Glad you like my dress tracey, btw! Oh, think you are TD on fb - was going to request you too?

Btw, Traceyb - do you ever go to N Wrax toddlers? We used to go there and they do also have a v good pre-school. My v good friend's DD goes there...spookily thought you might go there? On occasions...

playroom here too. Much better as leaves a relatively child-debris free sitting room zone (mostly)...but kids think it's the best fun to trampoline the sofas; and I really do become my Mother then!

Tracey - DH has ordered a guitar now, and still searching for a bike....

Blooming awful weather....having a fat feeling day too...think it's the weather!

carciofi · 04/08/2010 14:39

Ollie glad you are happy with your colours.
Florence, have a good holiday. I am looking forward to being able to buy from Zara online.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 04/08/2010 14:48

florenceuk the plank is fine even if you have slight diastasis, sorry don't know anything about tulper. Zara tshirt sounds lovely do you have a link?

carciofi I have a Skip Hop as well which I hate, think it's because its full of bad memories of struggling to cope in the early days maybe why I am so determined to have a nice normal bag this time.

Lightening and raining here as well, trying to be fun mummy with play dough, crayons and toys but think TV will be utilised earlier than usual.

blossoming · 04/08/2010 14:49

Hi everyone!
Gosh I've missed loads! How did that happen?

So glad you're back and had a great colour analysis ollie. Isn't it lovely to have someone concentrate on making you look great for a few hours?

Haven't caught up but congratulations on the twin girl scan bunnymother.

Also hope things work out for you holiday wise ltec.

libra, I have big slabs of size 8 feet. I don't think they've ever looked better day to day than they do right now in the m&s diamanté flats in pewter. I have just ordered a second pair. They go so well with denim and I shall wear them round the house all winter to keep glam (must throw out sheepskin slippers!)

Was happy with how I looked in Cardiff and saw many mothers and too many tunic tops. I'm curious about that thread you've been discussing. I'm glad I've found all of you lot who agree about the 'never knowingly underdressed thing'. Saw my aunt yesterday who told me I looked like a glam movie star! This from the woman who made me cry before my graduation when she insulted my outfit. How things change.

I do hope we arrange a meet up soon. I am not active on facebook and quite envious of all of you knowing what the rest of you look like!

blossoming · 04/08/2010 15:11

Florence, the one thing that has made a huge difference to my tummy is giving up sugar.

traceyb, I'm not surprised the jigsaw dress was wrong for you. I have it in a small fgs!! I do find it a strange shape myself. As for me I bought that psychedelic boden beach dress, and although I liked it over jeggings with a boyfriend cardigan belted over, I will never wear it on it's own or even on the beach.

traceybath · 04/08/2010 15:13

Dolcee - spooky - I used to live in N Wraxall and DS1 went to the playgroup there until he started at K. I used to go to toddlers all the time but don't go very often anymore.

I am TD on fb.

Although must add my photo is very old indeed - need to add some new ones.

Bloss - did you buy anything in Cardiff. I will be getting some new uggs for winter for house purposes only - my house is freezing so have to wrap up warm.
