Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Please join me ladies. Don't want to be too sad and lonely on a Friday night.......

Aww lovely photo Cariofi! You both look great . Bright pink yes.

Hells lovely to have your long posts (I love everyone's long posts never fear they are too long!)

I would love deep red or aubergine patent pumps (flattish). I did say ballerina before but I grabbed some white patent Blochs from Coggles so ok on that front. I found myself squinting at a picture of a patent shoe in the guardian mag today to see the label. But it's probably a stock image three years out of date .

I am so tired today it is crazy. Must not drink too much coffee to compensate.

MarshaBrady · 31/07/2010 14:40

Damn! I still didn't get your name spot on

vinovino · 31/07/2010 15:00

Helloo I am MNing from the kitchen table with DS throwing tortilla and butternut squash at me in disgust from his new rather funky highchair

You are right I was terribly unhappy before the affair business so I need to keep my cool head on, I can so easily start feeling guilty about leaving him, even when he is the entire problem, but then I remember all the history and now this and I harden up again. Agh so tough, I don't like having to do this. I have never actually left a serious relationship before, he's the first person I've lived with and obviously there's DS involved now so it's tricky to work out how to go about it when he doesn't want to move, it's like he's forcing me to stay or leave with a young baby and work and other stresses all at the same time well, worse things happen!

Anyway! Back to W&A A/W talk- capes?! Any other pointers? I have been hiding for a while and am in the midst of a chino-driven fashion wilderness

bunny (is anyone else pregnant?) do you want some new james jeans black straight leg maternity jeans in size 28? I am thinking they may be a bit big size-wise for you but if they would fit let me know and I will send them to you

LTEC you sound very brave with your party! I witnessed a huge childrens party today where they must have invited the whole large class of 5 year olds out for a birthday, there were some very frazzled mums. It made me think about how hard it must be to only invite some children, I am now seriously considering home-schooling!

carciofi · 31/07/2010 15:18

Vino, I really feel for you. It is very hard but do you want to be with him five years down the line, still feeling unhappy? I am awful at advice so will shut up now. You are very generous offering your jeans.

Thanks for the compliments. I hate my freckles! Have just tried various discount codes on my-wardrobe and even the 10% off mumsnet discount doesn't work. Gah.

Marsha, I have dark red patent shoes from Russell and Bromley, I think they do them every year.

PlumSykes · 31/07/2010 15:30

Hey y'all.

Phew, quite a morning. Took DD and her little friend to see Winnie The Pooh at the Open Air theatre, and took a picnic. Dd got very show-off-ish, and I ended up getting super cross with her for getting ice-cream all down her smock, and being generally madam-ish. Came home, changed her clothes, DH has taken her to the park and the baby's asleep, so I've got the papers, the new Easy Living and a cup of tea. Bliss!

Situation with friend has resolved I think, Our lunch was a little guarded, but saw her again today, and things are better. I hope so. Despite the way it sounds, she's a genuinely lovely friend, not hard work at all, so I hope the friendship is not damaged by all this silly misunderstanding.

Monkey, so glad DD is nearly better. I had the pox as an adult an dit was so grim, I cautiously hope my two get it over with soon.

Hells, did your case turn up? Sounds like a fabulous holiday, either way!

Everything, so sorry about tax man bill. I know just what you mean-thought I'd lost the theatre tickets last night, and was all but crying with frustation at lost money/having to buy again. Called box office this morning to explain, they said I'd never had tickets, just need a booking ref, which they gave me, and turn up at the door.

LTEC Congratulations on the job, sounds amazing. Will it be from home, or will you have to sort out nursery etc for the 2 DSs?

PlumSykes · 31/07/2010 15:32

hells, this is my VB bargain dress. Got it in Urban Out sale for £40. Is a realy egg yolk yellow, looks pefectly killing with red lips and no other make-up.

PlumSykes · 31/07/2010 15:34

Aaaaand another thing...

Those of you who Shred, is there much in it just for arms? Have buggered knee quite badly, so can't do anything leg-ish at the moment, which makes going to gym pointless-can't do any cardio, and only about a third of teh resistance machines.

Was thinking of Shred, if there's enough arm-action in it. Whaddaya reckon, Shreddies?

carciofi · 31/07/2010 16:00

It's a beautiful dress Plum. Good that things are sorted with your friend. Enjoy your peace and quiet!

hellsbelles · 31/07/2010 16:25

plum - that is divine. I am in love with it! What an amazing find. Poor you with DD and madamish behaviour - I have similar with DS often (what is the male equivalent?!). Case has now been found so hopefully back early next week - I await to see if everything is in it!

Vino - you really are an inspiration - this will be hard, of course it will, but things that are important often are. You will get through it and we will help in any way we can.

blossoming · 31/07/2010 16:59

Beautiful photo carciofi.
Hope you have a good flight abo. usborne are brilliant I think. I may look for those cards myself.
Marsha, I linked to some gorgeous grey patent flats the other day from Joules of all places.
Virtual support for you vin, and you ltec. Hang in there! Oh and can we play ltec?!

blossoming · 31/07/2010 17:03

plum, maybe not ghe Shred, but if you google '10 minute target toning' there is a 10 minute routine just for arms which might suit. Sorry not linking. Cooking dinner..!!

walkingboots · 31/07/2010 18:21

Marsha I have been eying that A.Wang skirt as well so am . Also impressed that you have mentally made outfits with it already. I am really bad at accumulating "pieces" (as snooty salesclerks like to say) and then not quite putting them together.

Carciofi thank you for your opinion on the boots. I'm just worried the cuffy bit at the front will be at an awkward spot for the hems of trousers / jeans and make them lump out iyswim.

I too prefer the DKNY cozy in the more saturated pink. That colour pink is really nice with chocolate brown as well, if you have any.

Congratulations as well Cake -- you are overflowing with creativity!!

hellsbelles · 31/07/2010 18:55

Marsha - I tried the AW skirt a while back. It was pre most of my weight loss and gosh it was painful to see my reflection and it was short though that could have been my huge hips widening it. I suspect you'll have more success with it.

MarshaBrady · 31/07/2010 19:21

Ooh interesting Hells. I like a challenge these days (as I admit the Acne skinnies were possibly a challenge with the ol' zip at back ). I also liked this Carven one but too exxy for a skirt atm.

Ah Walking. I know it is mean stuff when they sell out so early. I'm amazed when a 'what's new' is sold out, especially if it's over a £1k (but then there may only be one or two of each size). I wasn't sure but then reading 'there's only a few left' always makes me tense!

Love the Sigerson boots btw, I think the fold over will be fine if you have skinnies (I had that problem with some Chloé boots and non-skinnies and it was not good.).

traceybath · 31/07/2010 19:42

Soooo tired.

You know wedding with loads of children are lovely but this venue was tricksy - loads of steps/rooms and no garden so was hard work.

Wore black slim legged trousers, black silk top and cream lace jacket as was chilly. Actually outfit worked well and stood out in a good way I hope from many empire line/floral/coast numbers.

Right will catch up now.

MarshaBrady · 31/07/2010 20:02

(and thanks to Bloss and Carciofi for shoe suggestions R&B seems to not have online shopping, or I'm not looking at the right site, not much left in Joules sale).

Sounds really nice Tracey. I like the idea that the AW'ers are breaking the floral/Coast mould at weddings

MarshaBrady · 31/07/2010 20:04

Or mold? too tired to think about that one!

Whelk · 31/07/2010 20:54

So sorry to hear that everythingiseverything.
I hate it when stuff like that happens.

I'm doing a 10k run tomorrow and although I have trained, I haven't done enough really. Any last or minute tips notyummy or LTEC

On an entirely different note so many of you seem to have three dcs (and still be wise, avid, slim and stylish). We are considering a number 3 and despite awful pregnancies I would love to but dh is much less keen (all sensible, financial reasons). I'm happy where we are but I don't feel done.

Bonsoir · 31/07/2010 21:09

VerityBrulee - rue de Tournon would have been a brilliant place to rent an apartment! I'd live there like a shot if I could afford it

notyummy · 31/07/2010 21:14

LTEC hope the party goes ol.

Glad to hear that weddings have gone well- outfits sound gorgeous.

Vin - you sound so strong. I really hope that this time can pass as quickly as possible. Be brave.

Whelk - top tips. Have a good breakfast about 2 hours before. Mixture of protein and carbs'. At this sort if distance you don't need to mess around carbing up- for 10k the sort of thing recommended is scrambled eggs on toast- with plenty of fluids. Good playlist on iPod (if allowed- some races don't allow them.)

That's it really. Do you have a time you are aiming for?

Have loved watching the athletics tonight. Watching Jess Ennis' parents obviously so proud was lovely. So many gold medals.

Relaxing day spent going to library, watching Oliver with dd(she now has uber villan Bill Sykes to put up there with Lotsa Hugs Bear. Once you've seen TS 3 you'll know what I mean.) Ironed all her name rags on to tiny reception school clothes . Finished the day with a extra long reading from The Magic Far Away Tree.

Zembo · 31/07/2010 21:22

Notyummy you are soooo organised. I haven't even thought about purchasing reception clothing, let alone labelling it yet

carciofi def the darker pink cosy. I've got a fushia pink one.

Whelk good luck on your run tomorrow and with trying to convince your DH re: TTC , I've been working on my DH for the last 10 months or so (in a fairly subtle manner) and fairly hopeful that I'll get my way

Tracey love the sound of your wedding outfit

VerityBrulee · 31/07/2010 22:39

Well, I got my 90 mins to run around town First stop Topshop to look at the cape Verdict is a NO. The fabric is nice and drapey, but the piping is awful and ruins it. If they had left the piping off it would be so much nicer. Anyway, I then looked at the Stella cape which looks beautiful on the hanger, but is so uncomfortable to wear. It feels really awkward and unwieldy. So then I thought of the navy Jigsaw wool cape I have in the wardrobe and the fact that I never wear it because it just doesn't feel right. So my verdict is that capes may look good but that doesn't translate into RL. So that's a fortune saved on the Stella so!

In other wise news, I got these in Mink which are bargainicious (is that a word?!) and really comfy considering they are pretty high (for me at least). I am slightly concerned that I have bought 2 pairs of footglove shoes in the last 6 months - please don't tell anyone!

I also got this bag in deep red which while not the true object of my affection it is the closest I'll probably come to it for the moment!

Carciofi lovely photo, I think the darker pink would be lovely on you

Marsha gorgeous carven skirt!

Tracey love the sound of your outfit

Bonsoir Yes I would love to live there too! But it was too small for the 5 of us even for a week, we will be near Invalides instead, which is not so bad either. Must get some recommendations from you for shopping/eating/fun for dc, I haven't been for a few years and can't wait. You should do the MN guide to Paris as I'm sure you are always being asked this

Off to FILs in the morning, not as bad as going to MILs as FIL is married to a fantasic cook - yum!

carciofi · 31/07/2010 22:43

Marsha, R&B's website is rubbish and you can't buy online but worth a trip to one of their stores if there is one nearby.

More votes for the darker pink so I think I'll give that a whirl.

Good luck with the run, Whelk.

notyummy · 31/07/2010 22:46

verity - good to get real life cape feedback!

I think if I see any in my travels I will have to try one on just to see - although as I have already outlined earlier in the thread, I am fairly sure they wont do anything for me.
