Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Sorry to hear that Everything. Tax can be a nightmare. Just finished our self assessments (well, DH did most tbh.)

Would there be any mileage in future in using one of the companies that specialises in sorting out nanny tax/national insurance stuff? Dont think they are always expensive.

Great news Cake on the job. V exciting. Can understand why you are so re holiday.
DH has been home late every single night this week. Have found it very challenging with DC doing everything in the evenings, bedtime, bath etc. He's home late most evenings anyway, but this week was mad.
TB twas me who linked to the derma roller. Didn't get it done professionally first. Personal view is that, there's not a lot to these things really. There's good instructions on the site.
I use epilator on underarms only. Got the IPL everywhere else. I know I've said it before, but it quite literally changed my life! Was probably too fussy like you Zembo, but couldn't stand waiting to let it grow to an adequate length to wax. No wonder I prefer A/W fashion!
Welcome back Helles, love the holiday wardrobe, very impressive. Hope the missing bag turns up! Your DH sounds so lovely. He's obviously mad about you! (and why not?!)

bunnymother · 31/07/2010 07:46

Everything - I understand just how frustrating those fines are. Key moments that almost made me cry:

  1. DH using the internet in Paris to watch youtube movies. One of the only times I have seen DH stressed was when he realised we would be caned by Vodafone bill-wise. Vodafone global roaming rates = £2,000!!!!! Reduced to £700, but I was so very upset.

  2. Flying bloody awful Ryanair to Venice recently (never again) as it was cheapest flights. Not when you pay £180 in excess baggage. Could have flown BA instead. Almost cried.

Like you, wondered why I bother trying to be careful w money when we wasted chunks on the above, which you get NOTHING for. Just wanted to let you know you aren't alone.

Tracey - get scanned every week so far, and 20 week scan is next Friday. Will drop down to every fortnight after that, hopefully. Am cheered that so far so good, but am still "cautiously optimistic"

MarshaBrady · 31/07/2010 09:15

Oh I know it's awful when you calculate how much expensive mistakes cost, ie something from NaP . Commiserations Everything.

I seem to keep buying the last one of something... This A. Wang skirt. I had a very wakeful night last night and my mind was whizzing through what I could wear it with.. New boots and cream cashmere polo neck in early Autumn. etc etc

I am totally on some sort of AW thingo. I keep thinking about new stuff I could buy. I might need some distraction... (it must be the school holidays, or not)

blossoming · 31/07/2010 09:17

Just read your blog LTEC, and I loved your outfits. Quite inspirational! I think your fringe really suits you too. Also not surprised they gave you the job. What a great outfit. (I know I should have posted that on the blog but got a bit confused, sorry!)

Morning everyone else! DH in full on parenting role, doing the shopping and everything, so I'm left alone to browse, fingers poised perilously over the 'buy now' button!

monkeysmama · 31/07/2010 09:26

Have a good time at the wedding Tracey.

I am a bit unsure about the asos biker skinnies I linked to the other day (the Cain) ones. I have slim long legs but think they make me look a tad chunky which is the opposite to what most people have said. Maybe my recent weight gain is rearing it's head on my legs this time. The mushroom ones I linked to are funny - I really like the cut but they're made of a kind of over washed sweatshirt material so are going back.

Right, house nearly done now. Floors all finished and look lovely. Dd's spots have almost cleared up, off to see one of my best mates and his wife (and rabbits ) for paella later. Happy days.

monkeysmama · 31/07/2010 09:28

Forgot to say, I love your outfits too Cakey. I wish I had something like that to dress for everyday. In my mind I do, I just have no one but dd to notice.

blossoming · 31/07/2010 09:29

So glad things are brighter for you monkeysmama.

traceybath, good luck at the wedding. I've just bought the leather jacket in the black (browns are a no no with my colours). I didn't do any preview orders, but looks like the Boden site is offering 15% off everything today and free delivery/returns. So I don't feel too bad I missed out!
Right, best clear the breakfast dishes before dh comes home!

roary · 31/07/2010 10:02

Everything, we use taxing nannies. Cheap, brilliant, send reminders all the time. They basically do everything other than pay. Worth every penny.

everything - Sorry you are stressed. Hope you can sort out things quickly and forget about it.

esher - Hope you had a great birthday!

VerityBrulee · 31/07/2010 12:27

LTEC well done Fantasic news and well deserved.

Everything hugs to you, it's awful when something like that happens. You have a lot going on at the moment so please don't be too hard on yourself. Money is usually quite tight for us so expensive mistakes really hurt, but just keep reminding yourself it's only money,no-one got hurt.

Bloss delighted you got the jacket We are off to the first rugby game in the revamped Landsdown Road stadium this afternoon, need to find something Leinster blue to wear!

Rufus I am tempted by the dermaroller too!

Had a rare night out last night with lovely friends who are awaiting the birth of their first baby due next week. They are so excited, have the nursery all set up, the bugaboo in the hall and little piles of tiny vests and babygros all ready to go. Dh and I both felt quite broody on the way home! Wasn't home til 2 and dh kindly let me have a lie in so I missed my cape hunting trip to Topshop. Might try a flying visit after match. Since dc have been on holiday I haven't been out of the house on my own for over a month and would love a leisurely stroll around the shops and lunch out rather than a quick dash while looking at my watch all the time!

Bonsoir thanks for the YAM tipoff. We are going to Paris at mid-term and I very nearly rented an apartment just because it's on the same street as the Bonpoint flagship

hellsbelles · 31/07/2010 13:04

bloss thanks for the round up! Very helpful.

I sneaked a peak at the summaries of the meet up. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. Are there any FB photos? I am now very scared of the planned Oct one (but will definitely come)....I knew you'd all be gorgeous but it's rather daunting to hear it confirmed! I may try to bring back a new style statement...balaclava. Otherwise you may ban me from your 'beautiful people' gathering.

So it's tins of salmon now is it? Well a whole crateful to vino - that man is an utter shite and doesn't deserve another second with you. However those words from teh plastic surgeon are quite something...I hope you've taken them seriously and are currently admiring perfect nose in mirror .

bunny, what amazing, exciting and scary news....I had a brief moment (early scan where they told me they thought I was pregnant with identical twins) where I went through much the same as you are. What a complex mix it all is. But suffice to say I spent a lot of my school years in awe of some gorgeous twins - ready made best friends and so happy and contended.

MM glad to hear happy days are back (and I did totally understand your tears)...everything sorry it's now your turn to feel down.

marsha very jealous of the boots...well done. What colour patent flats are you after? The bloch ones here are so comfortable (I know they are £££ but I haven't found any other that match them for comfort).

plum - do you have a link to your triumphant VB dress? Sounds amazing...less so you rather paranoid friend. I hope that has sorted itself out.

Cake - so so sorry about the holiday but how wonderful to get the job - well done. And I spied a link to the MJ bag I coveted - and it's now mine! Thank you so much - and I promise that I won't use it at the meet up - you get first dibs!

Tracey I've followed your lead and bought the cape...can't wait to try it. And you need to get your shopping mojo back young lady! I'm sure we can work on that.

dolcee - the house was, luckily, nothing like I'd imagined so no stress scrabbling together funds ahead.

Waves to verity, choo, fritzi, roma, NY, roary, HF, ABO and rufus (and anyone I've not named)

blossoming · 31/07/2010 13:04

Leinster blue would be good on me verity! Lucky you, we're really missing our rugby.
How did you get on with your apartment search in the end?

hellsbelles · 31/07/2010 13:04

sorry for ridiculously long post.

carciofi · 31/07/2010 14:00

Hells, I bought that cape too, it's very nice.

Everything, oh sorry to hear that, how annoying.

MM, your house must be amazing now.

Blossoming, looking forward to the review of the leather blazer. I got a leopard print skinny belt from Boden yesterday that I really like.

Persuaded dh that a pink DKNY cozy is essential for my winter wardrobe and future happiness, not sure which colour to go for? Bright pink or pale pink

hellsbelles · 31/07/2010 14:10

carcifio - remind me of your colouring?

She did do some more fuschia ones which were a good colour.

LetThemEatCake · 31/07/2010 14:18

going slightly mad with party prep. Needed to seek refuge in the arms of A&W

have just written rhyming clues for a treasure hunt. Why? WHY??

(treasure hunt ends with gold coins - cardboard circles - which are to be traded in for party bags. I hate the whole party bag thing so have made them into part of a game - is that mean??)

carciofi · 31/07/2010 14:22

Hells, pale and freckly with brown hair and green eyes. I put a photo up temporarily!

LTEC, no, it sounds like great fun.

LetThemEatCake · 31/07/2010 14:25

oh god eie that's awful.

am so sorry

tracey have a fab time at the wedding

Verity glad you had a night out!!

thanks to everyone for kind comments re; job, blog and holiday. Have some explaining to do but it will keep!!!

AllBuggiedOut · 31/07/2010 14:26

Aargh, I can't keep up! Am supposed to be packing... But wanted to say thanks walking that place in Miami looks amazing. Right, back to finding 9 hours worth of entertainment for 3 small boys on an aeroplane... Actually a lovely friend as just popped round with some Usbourne "50 things to do on a plane" cards, so a good start!

LetThemEatCake · 31/07/2010 14:27

gorgeous photo carci. Bright pink, I reckon!!

hellsbelles · 31/07/2010 14:34

carcifio - lucky you with that pretty colouring. I agree with LTEC that brighter is better but wonder if that particular bright pink could be a little fluorescent in RL? I've got to run now but will see if I can find an example later.

LTEC - love that you are doing rhyming clues. lucky DC's. Also meant to say that I came across your description of the supermarket date with DH and it made me laugh so much - especially you missing DH's funny walk. We do stuff like that but thought we were just weird. Glad to hear there are other weirdos out there
