Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Please join me ladies. Don't want to be too sad and lonely on a Friday night.......

so Cake, what does the 'role' entail now, exactly. I'm actually very envious! I think Roma's comment hit a nerve with me....DH is doing well (thankfully), and maybe I am a little bit competitive? Sounds a bit weird, but I feel a teensy bit resentful sometimes, and it's silly, as it's all for the good of 'us'....but he's always picking my 'professional brain', and I want to put a charge in!!!! How wrong is that!! I really do need to do something for me before too long...before the brain cells frazzle completely. Don't get me wrong, I adore my babies, but I feel I have so much I want to do....so much more to offer! Excuse the blathering...it's Friday night, DH on a bike ride (yawn), and I've openend the Rose (fatal)

traceybath · 30/07/2010 19:49

Dolcee - will be wearing depending on weather either Banana Republic shirt dress or slim black trousers with cream tank and jacket.

Can wear hasbeens with both so will have bit of a heel but still able to chase children.

Right - does anyone use an epilator - have just ordered one as friend told me this pm how its revolutionised her life!

Zembo · 30/07/2010 20:00

Tracey in the years pre my comprehensive IPL treatments I used to epilate. It does what it says on the packet, and the 'pain' was bearable for me.

DolceeBanana · 30/07/2010 20:02

Hiya tracey! Sounds like a good plan!Love the jackey btw! Lol at 'chasing children' ... did a bit of that at last weekends christening! Then gave up, had a few too many and DH took over (bless him), plus countless lovely people oohing and aahhing over said children, so gave us a break. Terrible confession!

Did have an epilator in 90's on account of crap birthday present from DH surprise birthday present, and found it painful! They may have moved on somewhat from then though, so ignore my blathering!

Do you think you could wear black to a wedding? Obviously black trousers okay, but say, a black dress with other brights, or do you think a no, no? I keep seeing beautiful black dresses (Jaeger have one)...but think, oh, i can't, it's a wedding! I'd wear with say, leopard print peep toes or soemthing, whaddaya think?

traceybath · 30/07/2010 20:03

Zembo - I just don't seem to get round to regular enough waxing so this is going to be the way to go I hope.

Now - next thing on my list is a derma-roller - there seems to be lots though. Romana - did you get it done professionally first?

DolceeBanana · 30/07/2010 20:04

Oh Zembo - Obviously I am a right wimp! In my defence, I have had 3 natural labours! and didn't swear once!

traceybath · 30/07/2010 20:11

Dolcee - I think black's fine for a wedding especially with leopard

I don't have a high pain threshold - 3 c-sections here

DolceeBanana · 30/07/2010 20:11

Bloss - I do love that Bec dress... hope you get it v soon - when's your birthday?

Oh,and feel weird but liked a few Boden pieces this time around, a couple of the dresses and the leather blazer looks fab, but just can't bring myself...

MarshaBrady · 30/07/2010 20:16

Dolcee one of the best dressed guests at our wedding wore a designer black dress. She looked 'directional'. I loved it. (but then I prefer it to coast/floral / kitten heel normal wedding stuff).

DolceeBanana · 30/07/2010 20:16

yes, thought you'd approve tracey!

Oh I'd definitely have a c-section next time!!

DolceeBanana · 30/07/2010 20:22

Marsha - thank you! I keep seeing little black elegant dresses (classic shifts), the 'armani' being a case in point. which I would dress up with fab heels and jewellery/clutch etc....and was left wondering!

I had a talk with the Bride of the 2nd wedding today, and she divulged all the brands of the dresses she knew of (L K Bennett, Jigsaw, et al), so her guests were not wearing the same thing - she is an artist (perfectionist) and v v thoughtful, bless her cashmere socks! So, something chic, 'directional' and anonymous would be fab!

DolceeBanana · 30/07/2010 20:24

Sorry, that sounds rather confused: 'she divulged the names of the brands she knew her guests had purchased...'

MarshaBrady · 30/07/2010 20:28

Sounds divine! Really I would love to see that! And I am sure the bride will. Especially if she is an artist- high visual awareness and good taste. You will look so very chic

mrsjuan · 30/07/2010 20:33

Evening all, just a quicky as have guests (such a good host aren't I?!)
Got these boots for £40 at TKmaxx today. I think I am in love with them

Congratulations Cakey!

Have a lovely time at the wedding Tracey

Night

bunnymother · 30/07/2010 20:35

Almost forgot - happy birthday Esher!!

traceybath · 30/07/2010 20:37

Ooooh they're lovely mrsj but am scared of tkmaxx after I once lost ds1 in there.

Bunny - you are so good at remembering things! Happy Birthday Esher.

Bunny - have you got next scan date yet?

notyummy · 30/07/2010 20:39

Hells - glad you had great holiday. Am jealous. Of the fab outfits.

Oh dress for a wedding. Would love to have an excuse to buy something as funky and directional as it sounds.

tracey at the thought of me in the cinema with my hipflask. Twas emotional though, and beautifully done. Dd loved it.

Had friends round last night, with slightly older kids(7 & 9) who played with dd beautifully whilst the adults opened the prosecco. Slightly too much wine was drunk. In fact the last few days have been a bit unhealthy on the food front. Dh away for a while so I will do a salad and fish thing I think.

Quiet weekend now which is actually quite as life has been frantic recently. Nothing on socially until next wednesday when we have dinner with friends.

Will have to have a look through your lovely links!

Oh, btw- quick snapshot of life in the notyummy house. Dh rushes into study yesterday where I am in the middle of work emails and shouts 'Quick, bang on the window quickly and you will catch him before he goes.' Me(Bewildered) 'What are you on about?!' DH: 'It's the Home Service Delivery Network van. He's pulling out if the street without delivering anything for you. There must be a mistake!' Me:

Tracey I think my pain threshold isn't bad but the desire to be hair-free overides pain for me. I couldn't keep up with the waxing and was also too particular about having ALL the hair removed so epilation worked well for me.

I'm currently pondering what to do re: skin. I don't use foundation and I do look tired. I haven't read about the derma roller thing yet (thanks for the link Rufus) but I'm going to look into other options too. Just need to free my mind enough to do the research . In the meantime I think I need to raise my game on the general skincare front. I currently cleanse with a Molton Brown product and then use Weleda Skin Food as a moisturiser and that's all. I'm generally v cynical about anti-aging creams etc, but might give some medium priced stuff a go. I know the best thing I can do though is to look at my diet and exercise.....won't be easy with Ramadan just around the corner!

blossoming · 30/07/2010 21:55

My birthday's October dolcee. The big 40. Dh home from London, showed him the jacket in the catalogue, he said, you 've got to have it. Shall I get it for you? I said, no, just get me the dress quick before it sells out. (Guilty that I'm not earning). He was quick to say okay though!

DolceeBanana · 30/07/2010 22:00

Lucky you Bloss! So, are you going to get both?

roary · 30/07/2010 22:09

Get both, bloss. Jacket will last years. Most wise type of purchase.

walkingboots · 30/07/2010 22:26

Wow, Mrs J -- those are amazing boots.

Can I ask opinions on these? (Best link I could find.)

I like them because I think they would be walkable (see name), but am concerned that such low-cut shooties would be hard to dress around. Or am I just being silly?

carciofi · 30/07/2010 22:31

I like them, Walkingboots

Whelk, sorry, I just had images of the Pucci leggings and crop top combo that I saw on quite a robust woman last summer! I'm sure you will look rockin.

I also think you should get both, Blossoming

Happy birthday Esher and enjoy the wedding Tracey.

I have worn black to a couple of weddings.

blossoming · 30/07/2010 22:33

Yes I'll get both but I'll pay for the jacket!
