Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Please join me ladies. Don't want to be too sad and lonely on a Friday night.......

roary That is a great dress. I love dresses! I could live in them.

notyummy Meant to say bet you were looking fab when you got that great comment. Glad the 'fringe' is a success.

blossoming · 29/07/2010 21:00

Yes it was me roary. I got the catalogue today and it looks very tempting indeed!! I have gone off the dress and no one needs that many stripey tops! So a bargain if it's just that, right?!

roary · 29/07/2010 21:14

Well, leather jackets are always pricey...but last forever. I can't decide if the shape is as classic as a biker, though. I have a wine coloured one I've had for 10 years and get tons of compliments on still, and I just love it. So a good one is worth the money. THey last forever.

By the way, whatever did you decide re jeggings from Marks? I decided the denimy ones were the wrong colour and am going to look in Canada, where denim crops seem more popular.

rufus101 · 29/07/2010 21:15

CAKE sorry to hear you're not in a good place. I'm sure you'll be back on top form soon.
NY the fringe sounds fab. Love the random complement! Am still toying whether to cut mine back in again. It's at the inbetween stage where I have to pee or get off the pot. I like it and think it hides the lines, but sometimes fear it looks too much of a "bob" and mumsy. Last time I thought it needed either to be longer in length (ala Cleopatra and Cake) or shorter (ala Uma i Pulp Fiction and Bloss!) My mother hates it, but what does she know? She likes my hair "pulled back off your lovely face" (ala Croydon pram face!)
Loved that leather jacket from Boden. It was Bloss who linked.
BTW Bloss have you seen some of the DVFs on sale on the matches site? Like this navy one? Would be nice with that leather jacket. Or I quite like this one Also am quite likeing this one Is it too garden party?

rufus101 · 29/07/2010 21:17

Er that should be "liking"! And meant to say lovely dress Roary

hf128219 · 29/07/2010 21:24

Rufus Like no 1.

blossoming · 29/07/2010 21:49

I remember hf and I discussing the first one back in February! I did try it on but I was too big at the time. It is very short though. I prefer the 3rd of the other two but not for me: that sleeve length is frumpy on me and I can't wear that kind of collar. Great discount though!

Sorry I can't link but I got the Limited Collection cropped leggings in indigo. They are jeggings and fantastic tight fit with no bagging. I think you'd love them. I'm gutted I have to wash mine!! They were about £22.50 I think. They don't come up if you search cropped jeggings strangely.

Biker jackets don't suit me so it will definitely be the Boden one. Probably.

CHOOGIRL · 29/07/2010 22:02

Thanks for all your kind words. She has lots of people around her at the moment, but will definitely ensure I spend time with her in the coming weeks and months.

Lordy as Tracey would say, nipped to Selfridges quickly afterwork - what a lot of tourists there are around in London at the moment. I'm afraid I am a commuter so have limited patience with the amblers. I'm looking for sparkly flip flops similar to the Muse ones I sent back to NAP but nada.

Roma I get my laptop bags from here I find if I put my laptop in my regular bags they go out of shape. The knomo ones are stronger, but don't look like laptop bags iyswim

MM sorry about chickenpox and builders. Think positive - by xmas it will all be a distant memory.

Vin I'm not a million miles from Greenwich - best friend lives in Blackheath. Think Cake is close so we could have an interim meetup!

rufus101 · 29/07/2010 22:02

I'm 5ft 5, so am thinking would be a lot longer on me than the model! Think the middle one would be quite nice for work.
Back to nanny search.

VerityBrulee · 29/07/2010 22:15

Vin your H is a piece of work - have you seen a solicitor? Be tough, do not feel sorry for him. I remember ages ago reading a post from you and thinking 'get out of that relationship'. You deserve so much better, you are young, beautiful and talented, and he is a jerk.

Cakey hope you are OK, will be thinking of you

I am trying to engineer a day-trip that necessitates walking past Topshop and just nipping in to look at capes!

NY I have a fringe and love it, I'm told it takes a decade off me as I have a furrow across my forehead which is now invisible!

Romanarama · 29/07/2010 23:25

Sorry things not great cake. Can we do something to help? Are you feeling like you keep getting dumped on, and at the same time have few opportunities to pursue your own goals? I'm just projecting the way I feel about dh's career hampering mine. I don't begrudge it, but don't always enjoy it. I think it's a very common mother sentiment.

Choo those bags are exactly what I'm looking for. Which one have you got?

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 23:31

I was going to suggest a knomo but thought you wanted more of a handbag. I've had two & dp always uses one. They last well and repair well if necessary. I'd definitely recommend.

Zembo · 30/07/2010 06:03

Morning lovely ladies!

Cake this thread isn't the same without you. Hope you are ready to come back soon. What's all this about FOUR cakes for your DD's party??? I thought I was bad! Anyway I'm sure you throw the best parties, enjoy

Choo those knomo bags look great

MM is your DD okay. Its great to get the whole chickenpox thing over and done with at an early age, can be a lot worse when older.

Have a good day everyone, off to pack as going to my mum's for a few days.

Whelk · 30/07/2010 08:45

Salmon aplenty to you LTEC. I hope you are OK. I was worried about you after reading you after reading your comment on the jumpsuit thread (which I love but think I need to try in real life). Better late than never I have ordered the asos owl. A very wise way to brighten up a simple outfit.

Blossoming I am tempted by the Boden jacket too but I have never kept anything from Boden. I think as its such a classic cut it would last forever.

MM I am sure all the building work will be worth it in the end. We moved into a shell of a house when I was pg with dd1 and it was hell. I actually never thought I would get over how hellish it had been and actually enjoy it but here we are contemplating doing it all over again!

How do you ladies feel about patterned leggings? I have a plain black GAP dress which I think they could work with. Bit muttony though?

DolceeBanana · 30/07/2010 08:57

Hello everyone!

Cake- hope you are okay really....you can bet your bottom dollar that whatever you are feeling like, someone here will be feeling the same, or will have felt the same...so you're not on your own!

Zembo is right...come back soon! And, don't beat yourself up about things. We're all full of angst about this and that...let us lot take you out of yourself - good for a laugh if nothing else!

Have a good day everyone!

LetThemEatCake · 30/07/2010 09:06

morning all - bright and sunny so am feeling a bit more myself - cheered by your collective loveliness and care too, so thanks for that. Will be back on next week after the birthday party. In the meantime happy birthday esher if you;re reading, I have dedicated latest blog post to you - dolce pics of green/brown interview outfit are on there too.

enjoy your weekends

carciofi · 30/07/2010 09:17

Hi LTEC, glad you are feeling sunnier. Hope your dd has a very happy birthday. Just had a look at your blog and great outfits.

I love all those DVF dresses, sigh.

Blossoming, leather blazers are a classic. I have just ordered a load more winter clothes for dd from Boden so no shopping for me for a while.

Vin, yes, be tough. You did not sound happy with him even before this.

Whelk, if you have nice legs I think patterned leggings could look good with a black top.

Looks like it is going to be a nice day here so we are off to sit in a nice cafe in the park.

blossoming · 30/07/2010 10:00

Sorry to repeat myself but it's like bloody winter here! I'm having a wardrobe crisis as I'm so cold. Wearing skinny jeans as my cropped jeggings are in the wash, but paranoid of faded knees or worse still, frayed knees.

Just had a thought, mini boden starts at 12-18 months doesn't it? That's my browsing for today as I didn 't like the baby Boden a/w stuff.

Glad you're feeling better ltec. Looking forward to reading your blog later.

I think the leather jacket would be great for those child free moments. Lunch with friends ( well I can hope!), drink in the pub, shopping days out. That is, days when a hood isn't necessary. If I could better 10% off I'd buy it today.

hellsbelles · 30/07/2010 10:20

Hello all, Am I still allowed to post having been absent for so long and (most heinously) missing the meet up? I hope this post finds you all happy, well and gorgeous as ever.

So what have I missed? Was the meet up stilettos at dawn or a houlihan love in? I?m so jealous and can?t wait to hear how you all got on.

My holiday was bliss ( Tracey ? I know you were considering scott dunn for next year ? if you possibly can ? go for it?.it was total relaxation). And my packing was a surprise hit. I got compliments every evening for my various outfits (which took up less than half a suitcase. Most popular were my ?splendid? dresses www.net-a-porter.com/product/93918 (plus the taupe one that blossoming also has ? but I can?t find a link for) & a new black anglomania one www.net-a-porter.com/product/80166 which is absurdly flattering. Blossoming was it you that found the strapless wonderbra? You star. It allowed me to wear so many new types of clothes. DH said he felt like he was with a movie actress most of the time (I think he meant this as a compliment). And my goddess sister in law was equally kind. I also finally found a flattering halter neck bikini www.heidiklein.com/product_info.php/cPath/9_17_127/products_id/630 ? no small feat when you have a large but saggy chest. It really did make me look a million times better than normal (it?s £££ so I?m embarrassed to link?but it was worth it for me and I ended up wearing it pretty much every day).

Like Felix (I hope I got that right and it was you Felix!) I found my obsessive dukaning didn?t result in too bad a rebound. I ate ridiculous amounts?the food was amazing?but I put on only 3 lbs which I will lose asap (it was worth it)

We juddered to earth with an Easyjet jolt on our return?2 ½ hour delays so ?short journey? ended up taking nearly 11 hours in total. And to top it off a lost suitcase. Am I being too wicked to admit I was slightly relieved to discover it was the DC?s stuff that went on walkabout? Although I got my come-uppance when I realised that my jewellery box, make up and skincare had been stashed in there. Lots of gorgeous jewellery finds from the Pollencia market seemingly lost to easyjet. I?m crossing fingers and toes that it finds it?s way back to me (and of course all the DC?s boden/gap/h&M tastic kit ).

I?ve got a lot of work and unpacking to do?so if someone could please take pity on me and give me a brief summary of the last two weeks I would be forever grateful. If not don?t worry ? I?ll trawl through.

Fashion news?I?ve been invited by net-a-porter to an Alexander Mcqueen preview (at the headquarters). Oh the pressure! I will be relying on you to give me sound advice on what to wear.

FritziGreenEyes · 30/07/2010 10:48

Thanks all for your comments on grey/taupe boot selection! Will order Replay and Diesel ones after short holiday next week. We are going to Hamburg for a few days. Beautiful city and great shopping. We are staying here. Have also bookmarked the place where choo is going. It looks like paradise. Hope you have a fab time!

hf - Have a lovely anniversary dinner tonight!

plum - Hope you could sort out things with your friend.

notyummy - Compliments are lovely!

mrsjuan - I wish I could alter and sew clothes like your aunt.

blossoming - Shredding, baking, packing, styled hair and beautiful clothes. How do you do it? I would collapse with exhaustion... Have a lovely holiday! You will enjoy the sunshine in Nice even more after the miserable weather you had at home. No long sleeved tops or jeans, only floaty summer dresses and sandals .

Take care cake. We'll miss you! Happy birthday to your DD!

We got married when I was 27 and DH 26. That would make him a "child groom" then I guess

OMG vin! Sorry you have to go through this. Reading about your H's behaviour makes me really angry. You deserve better. Is there a chance you can get away with the DCs for a bit to have some space or that friends/family can come for support?

rufus - Good luck with nanny search!

Had a lovely night out at corporate do last night. Concert was great and my outfit fab too. Can't find a link for that dress... Had two glasses of white wine and not enough sleep and feel really hungover today.

MarshaBrady · 30/07/2010 11:07

Finally I have cracked it. The Vanessa Bruno navy suede boots are excellent!

Have some Acne grey skinnies on the way, back later to read through and link.

Welcome back Hells!

Ltec glad you feel brighter, take care on weekend and see you soon

hellsbelles · 30/07/2010 11:22

Sorry ? links done properly ? I blame holiday brain.

strapless jersey dress

anglomania dress

flattering halterneck bikini

I can't wait to catch up on all the A&W finds I've missed (I'll have to devote a good hour or so to catching up this weekend).

blossoming · 30/07/2010 11:22

How great to have you back hells injecting a bit of glamour back into this grey day. Netaporter headquarters?! The honour!

Wouldn't know where to start recap apart from the fact that bunnymother is pregnant with twins and Jamie Oliver has ruined ltec's holiday. Meet up was a success apparently and we were waiting for your return to organise a lunch meet up in October/November.

I have the Wonderbra strapless, but on monkeysmama's recommendation!

As for me I had my hair cut shorter a la Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction (well I can dream..) DH has agreed to buy me the dvf bec dress for my birthday after I tried it on in London, but has yet to actually do it. And I am currently lusting after a boden, no really, leather blazer.

As you see by the title, there is a lot of talk about camel and capes. These will pass me by, as did the hasbeens!

Sorry to hear of your suitcase. Will definitely address mine correctly after hearing that.

Thanks for your good wishes fritzi. Still over a week to go to be well and truly shredded and will take the blast off belly fat dvd with me to do my 10 mins a day when the rest of them go and fetch bread, or something!

blossoming · 30/07/2010 11:27

Just looked at your links hells, you must have looked amazing.

FritziGreenEyes · 30/07/2010 11:32

I am swooning at your holiday wardrobe hells. Glad you had a great time. I am not very good at summarizing threads but as you can see we are into A/W boots/capes/dresses already. Hope your suitcase with all your treasures will turn up soon! Visit to NAP headquarters sounds like a fantastic styling challenge.
