Vape-Free in 2026

Hi - I am looking for others who are quitting vaping.

I have quit multiple times, for months at a time, but I always start again. My DH vapes and is not interested in quitting which is difficult as I always know there's a vape in the house. Although, on the bright side, I have learnt something new each time I have "quit" and now I hopefully know how to be successful.

I really want this time to be different and would love to find some people in a similar position for support and encouragement. Whether you have quit, are currently trying to quit, or just thinking about it. All welcome.

Today is my Day 1.

Well done to those keeping it up and don't beat yourself up if you caved.. I think it gets easier with each quit attempt, maybe because you're better equipped to know what's coming?

@Saltwatersoothe access to DH's is proving a massive stumbling block at the moment but also I'm lacking willpower. It's all excuses I know but things are just really stressful at the moment 😳 poorly pets/kids/work stress etc and I don't want to tip myself over the edge! I've managed to stock up on some liquids in different strengths so I can taper properly, I'm still on high strength for now but will use the liquids as they run out. I'll be rereading this thread and my other one in chat for the willpower bit when I need it. Also excellent points made by @NotrialNodeal that resonate with me too. It's a worry enough, leaving our children, so I need to take responsibility for the things I can control at least should probably cut back on the booze as well for that matter

Hope you all have successful weekends- they always feel hard 😱

Vapeaddict · 09/01/2026 12:08

Just in case it's helpful for anyone.. you can see my initial success and subsequent failure(s) 🫣 but there's some sound advice on there!

We’ll do the booze next year 😂

I’m 5 weeks in now. Still on the step 2 patches. Should have tapered them but I can’t quite bring myself to for some reason. I’m amazed that it’s been ok, I usually have no will power to speak of! I’ve just had the results back from my over 40 NHS check and despite having a really healthy diet, good weight and exercise daily my cholesterol was quite high. Having done some research I reckon it’s due to vaping which is pretty sobering.

Well-done you! Cannot wait to get 5 weeks in! Came on my period yesterday and it made it the hardest day so far. Day 10 today though. Slowly slowly getting there!

Hi, I've just joined this thread. I gave up smoking years ago, started off as a social smoker. I then began vaping with a drink, but ended up vaping daily when my dad was poorly with cancer as it was a very stressful time. I've really struggled to give it up, but have gone cold turkey since New year's day! Psychologically I am struggling, I always used to vape out side first thing with a coffee in the morning, in the car etc. I'm finding it a lot harder then giving up smoking 😭

Welcome! I think a lot of us are struggling without a vape alongside our coffee in the morning so you’re in good company

Welcome to the club!
I'm having the morning coffee now, sans vape. I wonder how long it takes for those associations to break? (if they ever do!).

How's everyone doing today?

I'm on day six now. I feel OK, which I don't entirely understand as I have been vaping 20mg liquid and I haven't used any nicotine replacement so far. I've had withdrawals before when I stopped, but this time seems alright in that regard. Odd. Not going to complain though!

My asthma has been better too, which is another bright side.

However I know I can stop, I've done it many times before, the difficult thing will be not starting again for some stupid reason.

DHs vape - I can relate.

I know it's there! It's always bloody there!

Actually he vaped in front of me yesterday and I felt OK about it... but then I'm feeling good at the moment. It will be when things are going badly and I'm feeling stressed that it will be much more difficult to resist it.

I'm in the process of decluttering and organising the house so I'm throwing away any old vape stuff that I find lurking in drawers so there's less reminders for me to find, and also it's cathartic!

Morning! Well done for day 6! Glad you’re feeling okay, well done for going completely cold turkey. And a good win for the asthma definitely!

Doing okay here, day 8 I think it was seemed to be a turning point for me. We had some friends over for too many drinks last night and it was tough not vaping then but I managed to stay strong which I think is a big win

That's definitely a big win!! Huge well done for staying strong in that situation. Social drinking and not vaping is going to be really difficult for me when the time comes.

Well done to everyone who had kept going!!! I'm back on the wagon after a half day slip up on day 8. Stage 2 patches (14mg) working a treat. I had to pop to Sainsburys to buy a lighter earlier (for scented candles) and didn't even glance at the Lost Mary's behind the counter. Hope everyone is craving free today.

applecharlotte · 12/01/2026 15:00

I also have to say... those of you living with other vapers must have will power of steel! I don't think I could resist - I'm so impressed.

blankcanvas3 · 12/01/2026 16:35

Slipped up today, was at the gates of nursery and a mum I haven’t seen since before Christmas was there. I’d just dropped DD’s in and DD2 was kicking up a massive fuss about it for some reason, felt a little bit stressed and the mum said ‘here have some of this’ (not realising I’d quit!) and put her vape in my mouth 😂 I vaped for about 30 seconds before I realised I wasn’t supposed to be! She vapes 20mg so I got the worst nicotine rush and had to sit down

@Blacksheepatnewyear how's the snow situation now?

Hi everyone, the snow has begun to melt at long last. Weirdly it's been very mild today so we now have black roads for the 1st time. Means I'll have to go into work tomorrow for the 1st time this year but that's a good thing. Im doing OK. Spent the weekend with my boyfriend so no vaping & am feeling the withdrawal again. Will be good to get out of the house tomorrow & relieve the boredom.

Noreeen · 12/01/2026 21:35

Well my marriage almost ended on Sunday afternoon so I am afraid to say I have been vaping again. Back on the wagon tomorrow! 🙄

Oh shit, are you okay? Vape away!!!!

Yeah, I am OK. Thank you!
I think we're OK now, or at least heading in a better direction. But it really was one stress too much.

🤞 it continues in an upward trajectory for you both. Marriage is bloody hard, even harder than quitting vaping

Vapeaddict · 13/01/2026 11:34

Oh @Noreeen how awful, hope things are still going in the right direction with DH. Did you manage to get back on the wagon?

I'm still tapering away, the liquid I'm using is a different brand and it's making me cough. Its putting me off a bit at least. DH was talking about quitting again but, like me, hasn't actually done it yet 😂 hopefully he will by the time I get low enough to quit altogether.

@blankcanvas3 that nicotine rush where you think you might faint is something else! How have you been since?! I remember when I restarted and I hated it- why I continued I'll never know!

What mg are you on now?

I felt like shit all day I couldn’t believe it! It’s put me off vaping again so it’s a win I think. Bad news is I’ve started craving cigarettes….
