Hi - I am looking for others who are quitting vaping.

I have quit multiple times, for months at a time, but I always start again. My DH vapes and is not interested in quitting which is difficult as I always know there's a vape in the house. Although, on the bright side, I have learnt something new each time I have "quit" and now I hopefully know how to be successful.

I really want this time to be different and would love to find some people in a similar position for support and encouragement. Whether you have quit, are currently trying to quit, or just thinking about it. All welcome.

Today is my Day 1.

Just found this thread and popping in to say hello 👋

I am on Day 14 of no vaping today. I vaped for 12 years after using vapes to give up a 20-year, 10-a-day smoking habit, and feel like I was more addicted to vaping than I ever was to smoking!

I’ve gone completely cold turkey, as I need to kick nicotine once and for all and just cannot face having to wean myself off yet another addiction.

It’s absolutely brutal…still having intense cravings and eating too much, but I am determined to never vape again.

I know I can do this. It’s bloody hard, though!

I’m 12 days in now. As well as vaping I used to have the odd roll up - my partner smokes them. Not every day but usually with a drink in the evenings. I’m missing these more than vaping but I know I can’t just have the odd one without either starting full on smoking or vaping again.
Yesterday was a milestone, went out for drinks, sitting outside in the sun with a cold beer and didn’t cave, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it might be. Weird thing is I dreamt last night that I vaped and it took a while after I woke up to realise I didn’t.
I was really pleased when I realised it was just a dream so I’m trying to use that as an incentive to keep going.

Well done, people seem to be doing well

In terms of the mood thing I ate half a pint of ice cream yesterday. That was mad. I would never normally do that.

@Karmatime that’s huge well done!

@MidlifeConfusion1 yes i was over eating a lot at the beginning, it does go away. hope you enjoyed it at least?

2 weeks now, I’m noticing less physical cravings for sure but still struggle not to equate certain moments of the day with having a vape. Morning coffee, every time I need to concentrate on something and an evening drink are my biggest triggers.
On the plus side my breathing feels smoother and deeper if that makes any sense.

How’s everyone getting on?

17 days, the gaps between thinking about it are definitely getting longer.
I’ve got a tricky weekend next weekend as I’ve got friends coming to stay who vape.
